Single Parent Action Network Embarks on Exciting New European Project
Single Parent Action Network (SPAN) Embarks on Exciting New Pilot Project for Single Parents across Europe.
We are pleased to announce that Single Parent Action Network (SPAN) has secured funding to embark on a new pilot project funded by the Erasmus+ programme. The project, called Stronger Parents, Stronger Families, will support single parents around Europe to enhance their employability skills, improve their career prospects and achieve an accredited qualification in Pathways to Work.
The programme named i-One Parent European Network (i-OPEN) will benefit from the wealth of knowledge that the partnership brings from other single parent organisations; APERIO in the Czech Republic, Intermedia in Italy, One Family in Ireland and One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS). The project will not only help support single parents into the workplace, but also look further down the line at a career of their choosing, whilst at all times keeping the CHILD at the centre of the programme.
The Pathways to Work training will look at employment skills, finance, personal development, self-management, nutrition, health, fun/connected child, benefit entitlements, family law and relationships.
Due to pilot its courses in November 2015, i-OPEN will consist of eight 3 hour workshops, which will be supported by online materials and lead to a final accreditation. The pilot courses, for 5 single parents in each country will be available to parents in Italy, Czech Republic, England, Scotland and Ireland.
