hello all hope ure all enjoying the holidays,im new to this but this website is my new evening social life its fab.ive jus done the course about domestic violence what an eye opener.ive learnt so much from this site i feel like new xx
The flowers are so lovely still, thank you.
I hope you have a fantastic birthday Louise.
I'm sorry your back's so bad hazeleys. I hope you're able to rest so it can have a chance to recover.
Hopeful, I have to say a snooze in my break at night didn't help. I used to find 4am was the worse time.
Hope everyone is keeping well.
Hi All,
Hope all ok with your eyes today Anna, and that you're enjoying life without glasses.
My girls are still with my friend so made the most of my freedom and went out for dinner with a friend last night....looking forward to them coming back today, its been very quiet at home.
Glad you're a bit more mobile hazeleyes, being housebound can drive you crazy but at least you got out for a bit.
Hello Rosadollar, nice to meet you.
Off to work soon, its really busy still, finding it all a bit overwhelming at the moment, I have so much on I find it hard to know where to start. Wrote myself a list before I left yesterday to see if that would help focus my mind.
Have a good day everyone
Hello one and all
How is everyone this morning? Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes, I really had a good day and have talked all about it in the Just For Fun section. I am also hoping there are one or two more treats to come, eldest has sent me a przzie that has not yet arrived.
You have all been busy! Hazeleyes, did you get your good sleep? I was wondering about whether you could sit in the garden and let C play football or even have his own mini Olympics with you as commentator (you can tell him that commentators sit down) Enjoy time with your friend today
PQ, yes a list sounds helpful (says me, the Queen of the Lists) BUT don't forget that only the important things need doing, the less important things can wait. As far as your bedroom goes, I reckon the most important thing on the list is to daydream about what you could do
Hi Sparkling, hope all is Ok your end and you are finally getting some sunshine
Rosadollar, welcome to the Chat thread, it is great to hear that you have benefited from the Freedom Programme, it is a real eye-opener isn't it? Tell us a bit about you?
Kiera, I was reading on the other thread about all the lovely things you are doing, hurrah! We had those thunderstorms too, boo! Have your boys been watching the Olympics?
Hopeful how many nights in a row? I have done very few night duties but it always used to be for me, getting to 5am and thinking "nearly there".
Anna I am sorry that there was pain after your op, hmm they don't tell you about that, did you have to be careful what you looked at then, in terms of TV etc?
Sally hope your daughter is A1 now. I know you have some time off coming up, so you will be busy with them all. Make sure you get a holiday too (that's an order )
Fizzy Liz, a quick hello and hope things are Ok with you.
Well there is sunshine here, so time to get my crinoline and pantaloons on the washing-line
Happy Birthday, Louise!
No nightshifts in a row, one day off in between! The second one was much better than the first, probably because the nurse in charge was a lot calmer.
So only three more shifts and my placement will be done! Yippeeh!
Hope everyone is ok, Hazeleyes had a magical back cure and all is well!
You have done really well to get this placement under your belt, Hopeful, before your chemo. Glad you have days off in between.
How has everyone been today?
Hi Louise, happy belated birthday. I hope you had a great day. 21 again??
Hello hopeful I am relatively new to the site, I assume that you are studying nursing. I hope your course is going well, it was nice to hear that the patients wrote nice things in your profile. I have been nursing since I left school, its a good job & interesting too despite the bad press we get. I am sure that you will do well you have the right attitude & drive. Sorry to hear that your undergoing treatment soon, will keep on site to hear how you get on. Your strength & courage will get you through.
Anna I have went to a number of small festivals over the years & the first 10 T in the parks (now too big, expensive & too old for that one!!). I am hoping to take my son to the Wickerman festival next year with my friend. Thats family friendly as is Belladrum just outside Inverness.
Ps Fizzy 1 - Ikea 0, got the bed up all by myself & only had one small part left!!
My next challenge is its a knockout for one of our cities hospices' on the 25th Aug !! My friend at work is always arranging something!! Anyway there are 11 teams from all walks of life, all very competitive except us, so our mission is to come in last. It will be a good laugh?? Well for my son anyway we are making it a family day & my friends husband will look after my son while I get soaked etc. We just want to raise money for a great cause.
Best Wishes to all Fizzy x
Yes, we've had some sunshine and warmth.
Daughter had her first driving test today.
Hopeful, I'm so glad you're nearly done with your placement. You've done brilliantly.
Hi All
Feeling down and tearfull today . Not sure why? Work is busy, had a big row with A last night, just look at my life and see years of hardship ahead of me and wonder if I can cope with this.
Sorry to bring a downer on your day everyone, hope you're all having a good one.
Good morning all. Pq, sorry you're feeling tearful and down. I think we all have those days, but don't really know why. It's probably down to you being busy and work, all the pressure there maybe, and of course the row with A. Hope you feel brighter as the day goes on.
Hi Rosadollar, welcome along.
Louise, just read your birthday thread, sounds like you had a great day. Glad you got to treat yourself at the hairdressers. Am intrigued about the pressie from eldest. Did it arrive yet?
Sparkling, how did daughter's driving lesson go? I'm sure she did brilliantly.
Back is sooooo much better, thankfully. Had a lovely time with TA. We're going over to hers on Thursday. Two bus rides away, but a journey that will be different for C (not our usual route), so he'll enjoy that. Not sure what the weather is doing, at moment it looks nice and bright, but it changes so often doesn't it.
Hope you all have a good day.
Hazeleyes, excellent news that your back is easing. Backache and toothache are the worst! C will enjoy his trip on Thursday. Is he counting the days until 15th?
Sparkling, did your daughter enjoy her lesson? Do you remember your very first lesson? I remember feeling as if I was on Stingray, floating along. How is work?
PQ, ohhh I am so sorry that you're having a rough time. Sometimes everything around us can seem to crash. I think the trick is to accept that this will happen sometimes and also that it will only last a while. I so understand about the forseeing years of hardship ahead feeling BUT this is really a bad thing to dwell on. I am not saying a day at a time, but maybe a week at a time? Take care of yourself and we are here for you
Fizzy you did so well with the flatpack!! The It's a Knockout sounds totally mad and great fun. My son has signed up to do a parachute jump for charity.
Got some flowers delivered yesterday, courtesy of eldest. He was thrilled to have sent them, I think. Clients all went well at counselling and had a meeting with the manager there...they are thinking of running a course for parents of teenagers and you can all guess who has been asked to design it
Louise, that course is right up your street, you'll be brill with it. That was lovely to receive the flowers from your son.
it's a really muggy day here! I should have a jungle in my back garden!
Fizzy, yes, I am studying nursing. I am in my third year and I was doing very well until I had a bit of a health issue (nothing to do with nursing) and had to fight occupational health to let me do my placement, so I am actually three weeks behind everyone else in my group.
Hope everyone is fine!
Hazeleyes, is your back better?
Hi,
So glad your back is feeling better hazeleyes, hope you enjoy your day out tomorrow.
I love getting flowers louise, especially when they are delivered, its such a lovely surprise. I bet your son felt very grown up organising them for you.
My day got better and I managed to get through work without bursting into tears. Been round to a friends this evening with my girls, her cat has had kittens and we've decided to have one. They're only 4 weeks old at the moment so won't be able to bring him home for another 4 weeks. We're so excited, he's grey and white and we've called him Bobby
hi well sunny today. gona do garden tomoz, meant b nice all weekend, well i hope so,xxgot freedom programme tomoz, lukin for ward to it,x
Morning all, yes the weather is better
Hope you enjoy Freedom Programme, kiera, how many women are in the group?
Pancake queen you did well to get through the day, some days are just Eeyore days. Bobby sounds like a real boost to the family. You know what I always say..hold your nerve. Things can and WILL get better. Hope you can get some relaxing time over the weekend
Hazleyes hope your back has continued to improve. Countdown to Harry Potter!
Sparkling you are quiet at the moment, how are you?
Hopeful, hope you have not REALLY got a jungle out the back, the animals can get very noisy and I am sure your plants don't need thaty much compost! Are you still happy with the way the placement has gone?
Dispatched son to work, he is now talking about a short break in Amsterdam with three other grisly youths. Oh dear
He's finding his independance for sure Louise.
pq, I keep toying with the idea of a kitten, but then they grow!! I'm sure you'll all have lots of fun with Bobby.
When you tackle your jungle Hopeful, could you come round and do mine?
It's a beautiful day outside. Going off to friends about 11ish. Spoke to C's friend's mum last night (the one who is coming to H P) It really is looming now isn't it? She was talking about getting a train (she's not coming with us). I told her, am not too good with trains, and knowing my luck I'd end up in Scotland!! Now that would be an adventure for the boys hehe.
Hope you all have a good day, and enjoy the lovely weather.
It's not really a jungle - I just think with the humid weather it should be. I won't e tackling anything anyway (I hate gardening!), but I got a friend to cut the grass for me..... :-P
Placement is ok, Louise. I won't work on this ward when I qualify (I don't think I could cope indefinitely with people who have limited cognitive skills), but it is very interesting.
Weather here is lovely, but I am sat in the library doing a search for my dissertation....
Hazeleyes, I really hope your back is ok now!
I'm fine...
Your son is being adventerous Louise.
Daughter did enjoy her driving lesson thank you. It was mainly talking about how the car works and very little driving. Personally, I feel that is the right way to give a first lesson... She's excited about Monday as she will have a 'proper' lesson then.
We buried FiL's ashes today. Not the easiest of days for sixteen year old.
Scout outing this evening, but very few came probably as the sun was shining. Those who were there enjoyed it though.
Glad you're Ok sparkling. Where did you bury the ashes? Hope 16 year old is ok. My son is all big talk. His passport still shows the picture of a ten year old boy.....he hasn't twigged that he needs to fork our almost £100 for that before he goes anywhere. Hooray that you had some sun!
I now have a proper bench to sit on in the garden, I sit in the shade but it is still nice to see the garden and get some fresh air. Has anyone seen the Hairy Bikers doing that diet? I made the leek lasagne the other day, it was fine except I used too many leeks, I always think you need to do a recipe the first time as instructed and then adapt it to your own taste
Hopeful did you change your dissertation topic or stick to the first one? Is your back a lot better, Hazeleyes? How are you feeling, PQ? Hello to kiera, Fizzy, Looby and everyone else.
How is everyone this morning? Looks like a sunny weekend for most of us.
hi louise sunny today, gona take dog out and mow my garden front and back, hope its like this when me and kids go away 25th, british weather u never no do u,wish i ad bench to sit in the garden, lolx
Hi,
Having a few problems with ex, off loaded all that on another thread so won't bore you with it here.
Woke up to find my kitchen flooded, put the washing machine to start at 5 this morning so I could hang the washing out before going to work and it had dumped all its water on the floor Have had a closer look and I think its the waste pipe in the kitchen thats blocked as the washing was washed ok, so I'll have to tackle that this weekend.
On a plus note have been invited to a party at my ex sister-in-laws on saturday so really looking forward to that.
The bench in the garden sounds lovely louise, and the shade is probably quite welcome at the moment.
How was your trip out yesterday hazeleyes? Did you manage with the 2 buses.
Keira, my lawn is in need of a good mow if you're feeling energetic
hi not that energetic lol, i have quite big garden u no, well water leaking out my washing machine, u no i av ad such bad luck, my tv broke, ad pay 96 quid av it fixed, then my hoover now broke, sparks cumin out bottom, and ignition on my cookerr not working, and my 10 yr old son was elpin out m,owing and mowed over extension lead and mower plug, so threw lead away and next door elped wiv ne wplug on mower, aw so many thingsx
Hi All - sorry but i have not got round to reading all of your posts in the chat room this week, but i hope that you are all enjoying the summer break and being good to yourselves!!
I just wanted to say hi and bye as i am now of for a few weeks, have no plans yet so shall be flying by the seat of my pants which is probably going to be very interesting, i will look forward to catching up on all your news on my return.
Have a lovely break, Sally
There is always something going wrong in the house isn't there guys? Mowing over the lead is a classic one, kiera, glad he was not hurt.
PQ you are having a rotten time, hope you get the repair sorted. Very annoying!
Have a good break Sally.
PQ, I remember a few years back paddling into the kitchen and blaming the dog... Until it dawned on me that it was the washing machine.
I'm sure you'll really enjoy the bench Louise, especially when the sun shines.
FiL's ashes are at the Chapel close to their home, buried with my BiL's ashes. The stone had been engraved and is beautiful.
Just got off the phone with MiL. Seems her phone is sorted, thank goodness.
Hazeleyes, I hope the bus trip and day went well.
Hope eveyone is ok.
Wishing everyone a sunny, happy weekend, with no more appliances breaking! They always seem to have a habit of all breaking at the same time - probably to test our resilience or something!!
sparkling - sorry to hear that your son found yesterday difficult the stone sounds lovely.
kiera - glad you have a great neighbour, have fun tonight! Have a look on gumtree for a garden bench, my friend got one for £20 a few weeks ago!
pancakequeen, have a fun party tomorrow night
hopeful - I hope you get some sun over the weekend and you can forget your dissertation for a few hours.
Louise, enjoy your bench and Sally, I look forward to hearing all about your families summer adventures on your return
Have a nice break Sally, hope the sun shines like it is here right now!
Sorry to hear the tales of washing machines and water leakage, never fun. My water went off late last night....panic mode! Rang the water company and within the hour had a technician (spl) out. Couldn't find the stop tap anywhere, major issue. Eventually discovered it.....next door!! Turns out we have a joint supply (not on meter of course) and the holiday makers had turned it off not realising it affect me. *sigh* All ok now.
@Hopeful, hope the research is going ok. I hated the dissertation last year, drove me nuts, especially with all the other essays we were doing at the same time, as well as work and kids. Be worth it once it's done. How long you got to go now?
Am getting excited as I will be doing my first ever endurance ride on September 2nd. It's only 10 miles but over jumps (2ft 3 -2ft 6) on a brand new course. Only had this horse on loan for a few months but she is a sweetheart and love her to bits. Fulfilled my lifelong dream of having my own horse....technically she's not mine, on loan, but still. The kids love her and get to ride her too and learn about working with and around horses, so good for them in many ways, especially my son.
Ah, I am combining the old idea for the dissertation (Leadership) and the new (patient centred care) and will see what title I will come up with.
ladytelita, I have - in theory - till April, although most essays are due around December. Better get my act together!
Hope everyone is ok - will join in more again once placement is done.
Morning one and all
Wow ladytelita hope the ride goes well. My sister always loved horses but was not able to have one. So every Saturday she would work at the local stables and in exchange she got a free ride at lunchtime. What a nightmare with the water though!!
Hopeful we look forward to having you here more soon
Sparkling, that was nice that they put his ashes with those of your Brother in Law.
I did not realise I would cause such a sensation with my bench! I have always wanted one, sat out last night after tea as well, I am sure it will do me good to get more fresh air. The neighbours have got a hammock swing, I would be scared to sit in it
Hazeleyes did your day out go well? Kiera what is the plan for this weekend? PQ hope you are Ok and last night was quiet.
It's nice and cool here this morning, I might cook the tea in the oven shortlyand then just reheat it in the microwave this evening, I hate having the oven on when it is so hot.
Hi all,
Had a lovely evening with my friend, she has a little boy who my girls adore so he was in his element with his own little fan club. Had a few glasses of wine more than I should so have a bit of a headache now plenty of water will put that right hopefully.
Got to tackle the washing machine now, the joys of single parenthood!
Hope everyone has a good day.
hi well went out last nyt, my eldest daughter babysat, bit hungover today, bathed the dog, lol, gona bath my little girl and my 2 boys are avin bathes, my 10 yr old son slept at his mates house last 2 nytsm hes back now, windy where i amxx
Hello kiera and pancake queen sounds like you both enjoyed your nights out.
PQ did you get the washer sorted? Kiera, everyone in your house will be sparkly clean!
My son was late for work yesterday morning, only ten minutes but still!! so guess who was up and making a cuppa very early today to make sure he was out of the door on time? he went bowling last night so I was worried he would sleep in.
How is everyone today? Whats the weather report and what is for Sunday dinner?
Aw, Louise, no matter how many times we tell ourselves they're old enough, we still fuss, don't we? I hope he appreciates your effort!
Our weather was lovely here, but I didn't appreciate it. Today I am missing my husband loads; don't know where that's suddenly come from. It's like I feel everything would be a lot easier, if he was still here. I'm allowing myself today to mope, but will snap out of it by tomorrow, I promise!
Hope everyone else is not hungover anymore (I don't sympathise there - it's self inflicted)! ;-)
Hi all, busy weekend for me, had a great time at the party on sat night and a lovely day with the girls yesterday.
I fixed my washing so have been feeling really pleased with myself .
Hopefull, I can't begin to imagine how you feel, not having experienced anything similar myself. I hope you get through today ok (hugs).
Stayed up to watch the closing ceremony last night so not very with it today, I'm yawning already which isn't a good sign!!
hi nice today and windy, but weather report says raining lata great, got my washing out already,i watched film last night, the birds, god not seen it in ages, watched bit ceremony, george michael he was really gudx
Morning all, I am guessing that hangovers are now replaced with tiredness! I watched the closing ceremony at a friends house, we didn't get home til 12:20!! I am yawning too pancakequeen.
Not quite raining here, but I don't think it is too far away!
ladytelita, your endurance ride sounds fab, I love going riding with my daughter, whenever we go on holiday, that is our 'treat'!! I look forward to hearing about it.
How are you doing today Hopeful? I hope that you were kind to yourself yesterday and let yourself just be in the place you needed to be.
Good morning all. Lovely weekend weather, so made the most of it, just by sitting. Bliss. C's had his pool out, and I did get in too! Went over to a friend's early evening, and arrived back at midnight, so C is still snoring. Had lovely time. H P day is getting very near now, so Wednesday I'm bound to have C asking 'are we going yet?' a great deal of times. He has googled it, and apparantely once we've had the tour, we can then go off by ourselves for however long we wish Our tickets are for 3.30, so I can imagine us leaving at closing time, 9pm
Glad everyone is okay. Kiera, I saw that film years ago, wish I'd got to see it again.
Absolutely awful what happened to twelve year old Tia. So very very sad.
Yes, you're right about Tia, very sad
It's awful. My heart breaks for her mother as she's lost so much more than a daughter.
Much better today; I had my last day in placement (already!!!) and no time to mope. I had some really good feedback from my mentor, and it's a bit of a shame that this was only four weeks - it takes about three to settle in and learn how a ward works - I could have done with a couple of weeks more.
I also think the Tia story is just horrible. No words for this, really. :-(
The weather has just turned during the last hour and it is now raining. Is it because in theory I have the next couple of weeks off? :-P
Hope everyone is doing fine!
Good morning one and all
Hopeful well done on finishing your placement! Are we allowed to say how proud of you we are?
Hazeleyes, one more sleep until HP. C will burst with excitement......
Yes the Tia case is very upsetting, but lots of questions remain; they have not formally identified the body. Why? Is she unrecognisable? Why didn't they find the body before?
PQ are you working today?
Kiera how are you?
Sparkling any more driving lessons lined up for your daughter?
Glad everyone enjoyed the closing ceremony. I was glued.
My youngest was an absolute monster last night, He has done five shifts in a row and it is his sixth and final one today before days off (he usually does five but had to swap because of holidays) We have an agreement about nights out/times to get in. He came storming in yesterday evening saying "I am a grown man earning my own money, you treat me like a child if you expect me to be in at a certain time"
I resisted the temptation to say a. it was your agreement, b. for a grown man you are behaving like a toddler and c. which of your friends has put you up to this then? although all these things went through my head.
I said Ok so you are unhappy with our agreeement, let's amend it then, could you put forward a suggestion of what you think would be better? This took the wind out of his sails, (HA) and he chuntered a bit, and I just kept doing really annoying summaries like "So what you are saying is that you would like X but you don't mind about Y" He said I am too tired to go out now we have had an argument. I said there has not been an argument, we have discussed your feelings and I have agreed what you have proposed. He just skulked off to his room.....
Hope everyone will have a good day, I have one counselling client and a meeting about the new parenting group proposal.
Morning all, my internet isn't working at home so can only access the site from work, that answers your question louise.
Loved your story about your son louise, I shall have to remember that aproach.
I've only got this week to do then I'm off for another week. Off to Denmark on saturday, never been on a plane with the girls on my own before so that will be interesting.
Hi hopeful, glad your placement went well, I'm a nurse too and remember how long it can take to settle into a ward, so to finish after 4 weeks must have felt strange.
I do wonder about the Tia story, I read on the BBC website yesterday that the police have apologised to Tia's mum for not finding her body earlier, they put it down to human error! How awful for her, not only has she lost her daughter but her mum seems to be implicated in the whole thing as well.
Good morning all. Louise, your son is obviously tired after all the shifts, and without a break really. Late nights cause lots of upsets don't they? C gets quite shirty with me, and I know it's all to do with the tiredness (though of course, he doesn't do shifts, hehe) You seem to have handled it well, as always.
Well done Hopeful. I hope you can now relax for your hols. The weather will turn brighter I'm sure.
pq, you've something lovely to look forward too, Denmark. It will be a great break for you and the girls. Do you have family or friends there?
Yes, Harry Potter tomorrow, and now it's getting close, I'm quite excited too. C has planned what he is wearing already. His new school trousers What else would he wear for H P day? 'Come on Mum' Plus his cloak of course. He's lending other one to his friend, which I found really nice of him. The other lad doesn't have things like that, as his Mum doesn't see the point (wish I was like her)
Tia case. Even though they haven't officially named the body as hers, when that monster was charged, they named her then apparantely. Last night I read that she was in the loft, in a black bag (awful to think about it) The neighbour thing, and the police not finding Tia sooner, I can't help but wonder, did he have Tia in his place whilst police were searching the first few times, and then Tia was moved back to the Grandmothers? I guess we'll find out more when it's all released. Sickens me to my stomach. God Bless her.
Post Office day, so best sort myself out.
Yes, PQ, it was really strange to leave just as I was beginning to feel part of the team!
Louise, I wish I thought of things like that at the time of arguments! I am proud if I just keep my calm!
Have fun with HP Hazeleyes, it sounds like everyone can't wait now!
Sparkling, hope is all well...
Good weather today, yay! Have been to meet with the teacher at the new school for No3 son, and she sounds really really positive. Will try to get No1 son to take No3 son on a tour and then we'll have a proper meeting with the school to set out a plan.
Have a brilliant day tomorrow hazeleyes
Hopeful I think anyone who keeps calm when a teen kicks off SHOULD be proud of themselves, and that includes you! It is definitely about being "detached". Unfortunately they often engage us when we are tired, stressed or worried ourselves and it doesn't take much for us to snap. Girls do it more than boys, try anything to provoke a reaction.
That sounds really positive for no 3 son's new start at school
Hazeleyes, how is the wizard in the cloak and school trousers going to last out till 3.30? I have had a look online and yes I think it is going to be a rather late night for you, heh heh.
Son has now finished his shifts hooray, was in a much better mood and went to dog sit for a friend, who is away for the night and his dad is on nights so they asked my son to sleep at the house and look after the dog. He has optician's this morning. As he was leaving last night he said "Oh, text me full details of the opticians in the morning" Never one to miss a trick, I said "Well, as you told me yesterday, you are now a grown up man so I guess you are able to remember your appointment time and to collect a receipt." HA!
How is everyone this morning and what does today hold?
Hi All,
Still no internet at home. Contacted Sky who said it was my router. If I wanted a new one it would cost me £39 plus postage, I told them if they wanted my custom they could send me one free of charge......a new one is in the post as we speak
Work is really busy as I prepare for my week off next week and I am frantically trying to work my way through a mountain of ironing so we've got some clothes to take to take to Denmark, but otherwise all is calm at home this week
Hazeleys, hope you all enjoy your day at Harry Potter world, I've heard its really good.
Hopefull, how much time have you got off now?
Something to look forward too Anna. I remember when you put in a post that your brother had asked girlfriend to marry him. Blimey, my memory is still intact, (if nothing else, hehe)
Took a slow walk out today, couldn't handle another day in this flat. So, park ten mins away, and because I was on a guilt trip about C, decided he could go there. I sat while he climbed. Nothing in park though, apart from the climbing frame, that is for his age. Oh, a swing of course, and that's it!! TA texted me, she coming over tomorrow. Will be nice, and looking forward to that, as is C. We're sick of each other's company at the moment, and boy is it showing!!!
Hope you've all had a good day. Off to bed shortly, not been sleeping great because of the pain, but tonight is gonna be a good one (can feel it in my bones)
