My son tomorrow and my daughter on Thursday and I'm sad, I've loved the holidays and it's great having them here in the house watching them play and going out for walks and talking, there are downsides, like the fact that the house constantly looks like a bomb has gone off but I can live with that... and now they have to go to school, soon they will be all grown up and leave home : (
It seems like only yesterday that they were little babies that I had to do absolutely everything for them, now they are six and seven all growing up and expressing their own little wills and wants, with their funny little personalities.
I love them so much.
I wish I could watch them grow up for ever.
: )
Life, it only happens once, you can't take anything with you at the end so be happy and enjoy it while it lasts.
: )
I know where you're coming from...
xx
Me too
I hope your son has a good day tomorrow Bubblegum.
I don't want Thursday to come :(
Louise, put some heels on, hehe
hehe they would have to be Bay City Roller platform boots!
My, that takes me back. Shang a lang!!!
The first band I was ever into (appart from the Wombles) was the Rubetts.. anyone remember them : )
I was about seven.
Can't say I remember them Bubblegum. My first pop idol was Donny Osmond, I used to imagine he was singing just to me, lol. Have to say, I still have a soft spot for him.
And yes, he still sings just for me :)
ha : )
My nan thought he was wounderfull : )
I remember the Rubettes. The were ok. Hated Bay City Rollers (I used to have a different middle name for them!).
DONNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY **sigh**
I'm wondering how old Bubblegum's nan is now!!!!!!!!!!!
wot? like bay sparklelime Roller!
:)
Are you suggesting I'm same age as Bubblegums Nan??????????? Nooooooo. Surely not, I know I had C late in life, but........
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now then, now then (gosh I sound like Jimmy Saville).
I remember the Rubettes, there was that lead singer with the very high voice and the white flat cap: "Sugar Baby Love" was the record.
All the girls at school used to wear tartan scarves round their wrists for the Bay City Rollers and wear trousers with very high waistbands.
a very high voice. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shhoooody doooo waaaaaaaaaaahhhh
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sugar baby love........
(and this is WITHOUT cider)
and yes, I am singing it out loud
Sugar Baby Love???? I know that, I know that, hehe. Just didn't associate it with the group that Bubblegum mentioned. Not on cider, but had wine, cheers all. xxx
Going to u tube and gonna put it on.
Thankyou Bubblegum, you have sooooooooooo reminded me of how old I am, lol. Going to sulk now. C has shouted at me to turn the music down,
What is it with the younger generation??
No fun, are they!
Nope no fun. I'm now depressed thinking how much older I am than Bubblegum. No wonder he's got so much more energy climbing those mountains etc, hehe
x
Hi Bubblegum, how did son's first day go? Daughters tomorrow? My son starts in the Juniors tomorrow, and he is so excited, whereas I'm not. Its great to see him so enthusiastic though. We've just had a BBQ in the garden, and we had lots of laughs. I was geeing him by saying, 'Oh don't go tomorrow, I will write you a note, saying Dear Miss, ..... C wasn't at school because I did a BBQ, and we ended up with food poisoning', hehe.
Normality returns, as in early baths, early bedtimes, me ranting in the morning, 'get up, hurry up with breakfast, brush your teeth, move, move, move, we're gonna be late'. I so hate it.
How was your 1st morning?
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow
I actually got it wrong, as I'm crap at stuff like that, remembering dates and times... they actually both start today, that's why I'm up at seven in the morning drinking coffee and eating toast and thinking about going and getting their informs..
I'm going to let them sleep in till about eight and then gently rouse them seeing as the poor things have been used to sleeping in till eleven at times during the holidays, my daughter once lay in bed till about two, until I tipped the mattress up :)..
AND! I took them up the mountains for a seven hour march yesterday up to Tal Y Fan, which is about 2000+ feet high, and even my legs are hurting so theirs must be a bit too but at least we all went to sleep happily at nine last night, even the dog is still asleep.
Back to normality now though : (
later chaps.
Good morning to all those who have just completed the school run and are torn between how nice and peaceful it is at home, and missing the children like crazy....wherever you are on the continuum.
It's been a strange old summer any many of our children are onto pastures new, with Junior School and Secondary School starters....as well as sixth form and college. WOW. It is such a challenge to be a parent and to be that rock to them during all the upheavals, and going through our own emotions as well. You are all so fab.
Hi
Very peaceful, but right now, I don't think nice is the right word for me. Now tomorrow...... lol
*You are all so fab.* Louise, you missed out your very good self, so I shall change it to We are all so fab.
I've posted about mine and C's first morning in the day chat thread.
Hope everyone is well.
x
You are fab too, Louise.
Son has got into College. Hurrah! Looking into the logistics of him getting there on a bus now.
Ok Ok we are ALL fab (puts down own trumpet )
Brilliant re colllege!
I have posted more about the school thing and a link for sparkling to look at, on the Daytime Chat thread
Me: what happend in school then?
Them: Nothing!
: )
Oh the fateful parental question......
In a way, what my youngest has said today was sort of sad. He's loved his first day at secondary school.
"The best part was being away from those who think they're clever - you know the ones who keep putting me down and wouldn't play football with me"
Yes it is sad...but he has certainly got his head screwed on!
He comes out with the most remarkable statements.
I've written a letter to the PE teachers today about his osgood schlatters.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood-Schlatter_disease
I worry that they will make him carry on partaking in a sport when he's in pain - as it can be agony for him. I hope they listen. They're not known to be sympathetic mind... I've had to warn him that he could find these lads are with him in PE lessons. But then youngest is so good at sport that he doesn't mind! If he has to come off limping, he knows its because of his knees and not because he can't face them.
Ahhhhh that's lovely. I am glad you have had such a lovely summer together. Never mind about the state of the house, the dust will only come back again heh heh.
Sadly, time goes faster the older we grow (and the older they grow). it is hard to accept when your children become adults, too. I still haven't got over being the shortest in my household
