Hello!

I just need a little bit of advice from someone!

I recently separated from partner and am now the primary carer for my little boy who is two.  We currently live in my ex's house as he is working away.  He is due to come back soon, and as a result my little boy and i will be moving back to my parents house for a while until i find suitable accommodation.

My question really is, will this move affect the benefits I receive?  I receive working tax credit and help paying my sons fees for nursery as  I work part time.

So many things to think about, my head is going to explode Yell

Thank you!

Lou

Hello loopy 6302

No it should not affect your WFTC and childcare subsidy. However, if your parents are in receipt of any means-tested help like Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Income Support or Pension Credit (not sure about this last one) then it could affect them and they should get in touch with Age Uk who give benefits advice to people over 50. When I lived with my Mum, she was getting Housing Benefit plus Council Tax and it didn't affect her money. I still claimed Income Support. That was 5 years and over ago though, so things might have changed since then.

Thanks alisoncam it depends on different factors: if you can be counted as a "non-dependent adult", mainly, and that depends on circumstances, I just didn't want loopy6302's parents not to check it out.

Thanks ladies, my parents dont receive any kind benefit, they are both receiving state pension, but my dad still works(all legal and above board!!)

I think things should stay the same in that case!!  Laughing
