ginjenny

Hi there,

My name is Jenny and im a 35 yr old single mother for 16yrs.

I married in 2004 but split in 2006 and moved to my fathers 2 acres property.

Augest 2012 I started my own little catering buisiness up, snack wagon.

The years living father he never paid any council tax which i was unaware of as he delt with the bills at his property. He then built me my own self contained log cabin at the back of his property.

I notified the council about my new home, they billed me for council tax from 2006 (on my fathers property) £6000. As i hadnt claimed benefits since before I was married i had to pay, my father said that as i hadnt paid rent i should pay the whole amount. Since living at my fathers, with no qualifications, i worked in bars and cafes getting whatever hours i could to support my daugher.

Dept collectors turned up last and I had to find £2000 on the spot, luckily my father paid £1000 so I was left with a £1000 to find in 10mins. I did it. They now have arranged with me a payment plan of £200 a month.

The problem is, is that I now have this years council tax to pay £75 a month, plus last years. But from my catering van im only taking home £100 in my pocket after paying out stock and rent ( im hoping i can build on that soon its still early days).

With having a 16 yr and being on my own, im truly struggling i cant sleep, im crying all the time, now, i dont want to give up what iv made, iv finaly acheived something on my own and i enjoy it, i was happy, but i dont see how i can stop this dept building up around me..

I put in for working tax credit over a month ago and still nothing, they siad on the phone i was entitled to something.

I need advice on how to deal with this and is there a way around it? Are there things we are entitled to claim, benefits, dentist, anything?

I work in the debt management business and been in debt so I know how awful it feels and I know with council tax there is very little flexabiity there is.

I hope you get it sorted and yes you should get tax credits on such a low income
