can i help with cost of school uniform
Hi, agree, school uniform grants down to local council. We should all be setting up 2nd hand school uniform clubs in our schools, if these not already available - for all school logo uniform and unusual colours. Otherwise schools should allow none logo clothing. Grants in my area stopped this Summer, and were only available to parents on out of work benefits.
Hi Meow. Take a look here It's been set up by one of our members Tiredmum. Not sure where you live, but take a look anyway.
Great - fab stuff Tiredmum!
Hi everyone
Most school uniform grants have now been stopped however you can apply for a discretionary uniform grant no matter where you live, all local authorities have funds and provision for this but do not make it widely known!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are in our area then please do contact me and we will help you if we can xxx
Thank you Meow xxx
Thanks for that tiredmum. I wonder if they would give me a discretionary grant. Worth a try, as C needs proper shoes.
If I were to be interested in the school uniform that you're selling, how does it work? Obviously I'm nowhere near you, so would I send you money plus P&P with my order?
Hi Hazeleyes,
Please do try for a discretionary grant,

The link gives you some guidelines to go off, BUT do not be fobbed off, all children deserve the right to go to school in the correct uniform and IF the childs parent/parents are struggling as many are this year then there HAS to be a safety net. Please let me know how you get on with that xxx
With regards to our uniforms, we dont sell them we take donations all of which are affordable to everyone. Yes we can post out to people thats not a problem but would ask that the postage is covered.
You can mail us at dovedalepride@yahoo.com where we can talk more about what you need and what we have and if we can help you we would be delighted to xxx
Thanks so much for that info, tiredmum
I find charity shops and ebay good for school uniform, especialy charity shops local to the school area for school logoed stuff, Jumpers for 50p or a pound compared with fifteen odd quid in our local shop.
Another trick, a bit sneaky, but go into the school after a few weeks and say your child lost his or her jumper and that you don't think it had a name on, I'm pretty sure they'll have one fitting that description. Most schools have a box of unclaimed uniform in a cupboard somewhere. My sons school put all the unclaimed clothes, coats and jumpers and stuff in a box at the end of term and said anything left would be given to the charity shop.
I got some good stuff... This jacket, well one just like it, I now have two! one slightly bigger than the other : )
You sneaky thing you
Thankyou tiredmum for the info. Could well be e.mailing one day xx
Hi Hazeleyes, you can mail me anytime at all xxx
Bubblegum you made me chuckle but you are 100% right xxx
Hi gazzamann44. Welcome along. I think that depends on individual councils, like where you live etc. I don't get any help with mine, in fact where I live, it was stopped the year my son started school!!! As it stands at the moment, I will get something toward to his blazer when he starts High School, but that's not for a number of years.
