I have been telling the CSA since 2005 that my ex earns more than he says but I could never prove it. My payments have, after all these years, gone from £5 a week to £48 this month, this is because they have found via family tax credits that he earns more than he declaired. CSA are saying that will not back pay as there calculations are based on what they where aware of at the time and this is there policies and procedure on such things. Now i have to go to court to settle the matter ( I think I'll need a lawyer). I have asked the CSA for all contact I have made over the years to show my insistance that he earns more and have now submited a late appeal (which they may not even consider as it has been more than 30 weeks since last assesment). I have also complained to the CSA about there conduct in my case :-S. Can anyone advice me further in this matter or give me any accounts of there dealings is similar situations and the outcome. Thankyou for reading this, I am so worried. :-(

My ex had two jobs, and it took them 18 months to get back to me (despite reminders), by which time he was a full-time student...

I have four children, although my oldest has been non-dependant now for almost two years.  For the last four years I have received £58 a month (which surprised me, as he doesn't have to pay anything as a full-time student), prior to that I was receiving £32.

I hope things can be sorted for you and quickly.

The saddest thing I find is that the other parent chooses not to be responsible for their children...

Hello calypsomaria

Welcome along.

If the father of your baby is not entitled to be here then he risks being deported at any time. If he is not working or getting benefits then what money is he living on? Sadly, if he does not have an official income then there is nothing to be done about child support and you can only get what he chooses to give you.

What about your own situation? If you have a baby to care for, are you getting benefits for yourself and your child? At least this would be something to support you. If you have questions about the benefits you can or cant get, contact our Benefits Expert (click) and remember to mention the age of your child and your status in the Uk, how long you have been here yourself and if you have worked during that time
