I hope all goes well tomorrow.

I'm still rotten. Have got out of bed and had a shower. Sat in the chair downstairs. Daughter has taken youngest to options information evening with my friend and her son. I've come back to bed.

Sorry this is so short.

Sparkling I'm sorry you're still feeling unwell, thats been dragging on now. Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Well, we ended up at the seaside yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a lovely day. Unfortunately the girls fell out over where we were going to have our dinner and they bickered and argued from them until we got home which put a bit of a dampner on the day. They're off to my parents today, and to be honest I'm looking forward to it.

Today I shall strip the bedCool Didn't do them yesterday, so one lot is in the washing machine as I type hehe. Sun is shining, but feels very cold, so heating is on too. Not looking forward to this afternoon, but hey ho, got to be done. I had a routine mammogram through the post too, but have had to cancel that, and re-schedule for the Easter holidays. Must get to see neighbours at some point this week, even if it's for half hour.

What's everyone else up to today?

A trip to the seaside, that sounds fab Pq. Apart from the bickering of course. You'll have peace for a few days at least. Are you close to the sea then? Wasn't it a bit chilly?

Morning, how is everyone?

Hazeleyes, eurghh re this afternoon, just good to get it out of the way I guess and then it's done for another year. Fingers crossed, and also hope C finds a watch he likes. I hate changing the beds and yesterday did a load of laundry and put youngest's pillow case in. Hardly saw him because he got in from work just before I went out for the evening so I fed him and dropped him near the gym on my way out...(short break there while laptop plug went wrong)...anyway hands up who thinks he put some new pillowcases on? and hands up who thinks he couldn't be bothered and just slept with the pillows as they were? oh yes.

Sparkling sorry to hear you are still poorly, some of these viruses can knock you for six, hope today is better and that your youngest has a good birthday.

PQ seaside sounds a good idea, and yet I am not surprised you are looking forward to a break, phew. My last holiday with the boys...we rented a caravan at Berwick with my friend and teenage son. Oh my goodness! the three of them were just abominable all holiday. My eldest was 16, the other boy 15 and youngest was 11. Youngest was not too bad and was happy to go swimming and join in things, the other two were awful, especially my eldest. We finally got rid of them all one day while we went to a museum, gave them some money..after the museum we went for a coffee, who should be in the cafe but the three boys, eating burgers and saying "good job you have come, we haven't got enough money for this" We took them to the beautiful and mystical Holy Island, they all flung themselves around, saying "it's borrrrrrrring" and all three agreed that the highlight of the trip was when one of the boys had accidentally squirted tomato sauce all over himself. Never again! Day trips from then onwards.

Hope everyone else is OK. I went to a friend's for a meal last night, house very quiet and tidy as her son is now away at Uni.

I'm guessing your son slept without pillowcasesCool

I wish that the appointments were every year Louise, but they are still every six months, and have been since I was first diagnosed, years before having C even! I shouldn't complain though, as I'm being thoroughly checked, and I'm extremely grateful for this. Decided to get there earlier than appointment time, then hopefully I'll be seen as the first one (fingers crossed anyway) Then into town for C's watch, and maybe a little wander round, though it'll only be window shopping for me (boring)

Lovely that you went to friends for a meal, though of course, you still fed your son!!

Hi everyone, it seems like ages since I posted in this thread, i do read it every day though, but I just never seem to have time to put the kettle on and have a chat!

Same goes for today I'm afraid, however a quick hi to all.

hazeleyes I hope the appointment passes swiftly and C find the watch he is looking for. Well done for being brave and letting C go around the block on his bike, I presume it was uneventful! Remember from the minute they are born our role is to coach them into independency, so you are doing well Smile

pq, I am so sorry to hear that the day at the beach was marred by bickering later on. I wondered if you could have put your foot down and decided that you were going to go somewhere that YOU wanted to go (especially as you were paying!)

sparklinglime, I hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods and it is filling your house with warmth and feeling of wellbeing and you are on the mend.

Louise - I think your son and my daughter must be related, we had a very similar situation here the other day!!

I hope everyone else is well and has a good evening.

Hi all,

The seaside isn't that close hazeleyes, we went to southend which is about 50 miles away, but its the nearest seaside place to us. It wasn't too chilly at first but by 5 o'clock my feet were completely numb!

Anna we did end up going to my choice of restaurant, unfortunately it was absolutely awful (didn't help the situation) I complained about my meal because part of it was inedible, but there was something wrong with all the food, I'm not very good at complaining so am going to write them an email instead (chicken I know). I could here the waitress apologising to a lot of people so I don't think I was the only one.

The girls are safely tucked away at my parents. I've had a bath, am listening to my music and about to have my dinner. My house is peaceful for once Cool

Hazeleyes hope you got on Ok yesterday, sorry I had not remembered they were twice a year, boo. I still have annual smear tests following the removal of a part of my cervix 10 years ago, I think this year is the last annual one and then it goes onto the normal 3 years. Did C find a watch?

PQ a peaceful house? bliss Cool Enjoy your child-free time and recharge your batteries. Yes it is very cold out and about, when I was on the train last week I could not feel my hands or feet!

Sparkling how did the birthday go? Hope you are starting to feel better now.

Am off to York later today, need one or two things for the house and also want a new scarf so might as well make a nice trip of it....and I want a hot water bottle!

Had a good time last night at housegroup, one of the chaps who goes is an artist and has painted some really interesting views of Whitby and he was telliing us about his painting. I draw like a two year old so always admire anyone artistic.

Hi pq, I am terrible at complaining at restaurants, my daughter gets very embarrassed, but because I worked in them for years when I was younger, I do expect a good service and good quality of food!

I am sorry to read of your awful restaurant experience though, I hate it when that happens.

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday Smile

Hi all.

Just thought I'd give you all a quick update. We're going through a trying time at the minute. My niece died last week after being in hospital for 16 weeks. I'd taken J to see her as we had an unexpected day off due to heater breakdown and she ended up having to be resuscitated while we were there. It was horrific and every time I close my eyes it's all I can see. J fortunately was busy playing with some toys and missed a lot of what was going off. Then fil has had three mini strokes and been in and out of hospital. He's home now, but it was a scary time. I was with him when he had his last one. Started to feel like I had a curse on me. Ex has been really bad with his back and has been staying with us due to the medication he's been on. He's not supposed to be left alone overnight. He had been staying with his sister, but had to move out as his mum went to stay with them. It's not been ideal, but there was nothing else we could do. J has been fine with it, but he asked this morning when daddy was going home so it would be just us! Friday is the answer. Its been strange, but he has kept to himself and stayed in the spare room. He's not been sat downstairs with me at night or anything, hes gone to his room.

It is J's birthday today. He's had a fabulous day and been thoroughly spoilt. Can't believe my baby is five. He's all grown up now he keeps telling me.

I hope everyone is keeping well. I am trying to keep up with things,  but its been a bit difficult. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon

Wow Looby, J is five!! You sound really busy. J's dad is very lucky that you have been able to have him to stay, I was glad to read that J had realised that Daddy is going home again, it can be a confusing time for a child if both parents are in the house again. I am so sorry about your niece and glad J missed the worst of things and hopefully your FiL is rallying. it sounds to me as if you need some TLC yourself!

Sparkling how are you feeling? I saw on the other thread there were some sneezles around...eurgh

Hopeful I am thinking you have finished your radiotherapy, hope you are not feeling to exhausted by it all. What is the news of your Mum?

Hazeleyes, gosh it is Thursday already, isn't the week going fast? Hope you are feeling OK after the tests. What are you doing today?

PQ back to work....but still less hectic with just you in the house.

I am meeting with my counselling supervisor today, I see her once a month to discuss my counselling work. She has her own supervisor and her supervisor has a supervisor (who has a supervisor etc etc) as issues of confidentiality mean that we work independently so need to check out our work with a colleague.

Hi all.

Looby, I'm so sorry to hear about your niece, plus your fil. An awful time for you. Happy birthday to J for yesterday. Hope he had a great day. You're brilliant having your ex to stay as he recovers.

Pq, how are you enjoying the peace and quiet? I wonder if the girls will be bickering at your parents? Guessing not, or not as much maybe!! Always the way though eh.

Louise, I have to confess to doing what your son did, with the pillowcases hehe. I did however put one back on, and left two off. Back on now though. Hope your meeting goes well today.

How are you feeling Sparkling? Much better I hope.

Hi Anna, C did get his watch, and is delighted with it.

Hospital went okay. Back in August. A few 'patches' have appeared, which means of course that more can appear before my next appointment. Am keeping fingers firmly crossed that another operation isn't looming. A bit gutted by the news, but staying optomistic. Louise, I'm pleased that you'll soon be going from annual smears to three yearly ones. That's great news.

C went to his friends for a few hours yesterday, and then a friend from school popped in for some of the afternoon. After that, C and I went to neighbours for hour or so. Plans seem to go to pot for us, so I've told C no more planning, we'll just wait and see what the day brings. Today, I'm having a real lazy day, though I have caught up with the washing. My hip has been causing me lots of pain. X-ray came back normal, so am wondering if it's to do with the cold. When I'm indoors, I seem lots better. Wierd, but.......

Only a short one, sorry.

Still not brilliant, but managing to get to work and share the germs.  Bought my colleague a box of ultra soft tissues today - a change from the usual jammy dodgers.

I had planned on having tea, but can't face 'proper' food again.

My 'other' neighbour has died.  Sadly she fell downstairs early on Sunday morning, and luckily had one of these emergency alarm things she was able to push.  She was very frail, and I know tired and fed up with things.  She will be missed.  Her neighbour was very sweet thinking of me and came to let me know this morning before I left for work.  My neighbour also phoned me.

Very sad, yet all I feel is how she is resting and at peace.  She was so kind to us (as were most in our little corner of the estate) when we arrived, giving me curtains and bits and pieces for the house (we were homeless).

Anyhow.

I hope half term is passing peacefully (I'm far enough away that my coughing won't be disturbing you).  I hope you're also having some of the sunshine we are.  Well worth the cold temperatures. for.

No sunshine here today or yesterday. In fact, the temperature has changed again (and not for the better either) Half term is passing very peacefully thankyou. We're both enjoying the time together I think. Definately cannot hear you coughing from here, but do sympathise (honest)

Neither of us are hungry. C made us both cheese on toast earlier, I even let him turn the toaster on and didn't get up and check, which is a first. Normally I would turn the gas on, but I've got to let him eventually, so today was the day. I did however check that the gas was off!!

Hello to Hopeful and Kiera and Happy Mamma and everyone else who visits the chat section

My meeting went well yesterday. Son got in from work and the tea was in the oven and he suddenly went to the gym (got a lift, he and his friend are trying to get six packs for their Greek holiday in July) then was home and getting ready for bed later when he suddenly got an invite at 9.45 so got dressed again and went clubbing. Luckily he is not at work till 12.

Morning all,

My meal out last night was lovely. We went to wagamamas. Had a lovely chicken ginger noodle dish.

Louise, your son is really living the life of the young. I remember going to benidorm when I was 18, going to bed after the beach for a quick nap and waking up at midnight, getting up and going clubbing anyway...it seemed like the most sensible thing to do!

Sparkling, sorry about your neighbour, but as you said they are at peace now. You obviously have happy memories of them and their kindness. Also sorry that you are still poorly, persistent coughs are a pain and can be exhausting.

Anna, good for you taking your daughter shopping, muchos brownie points for you Cool. Hope she didn't wipe you out??

hazeleyes, I think Louise might have a great idea here, get C cooking! How wonderful to have him interested in the kitchen and cooking you some delicious food!

I lurve Wagamama's its our special treat place, you know what you are getting and it is reasonably reasonable, glad you had a good night pq.

Daughter didn't wipe me out last night, in fact she told me she wants to go halves on everything, which suits me fine! Smile She finally bought some clothes that weren't black or grey, she has some khaki and maroon stuff now and it really lifts her! She didn't understand what I was going on about, but I know that you do!

Tomorrow is my brothers birthday and it is to be Chilli themed! My daughter wants to dress up and I have decided to be a Red Hot Chilli Pepper (band member) so hopefully I will get away with it Cool

Hi all. Today is another lazy day here. We're so loving them, and making the most of last few days. Yesterday we visited a friend from school. Another TA went, and her son, similar age to C, so that was great. Then, they all trooped back to mine, again, it was lovely. I slept very badly last night, so my eyes are drooping already. Might have to take a nap at some point. Hip isn't as bad Louise, but definately pain still there. We have snow flakes, aarrgghhh.

Have a great time Anna. We were talking about Red Hot Chilli Pepper yesterday!

Enjoy your takeaway tonight Louise. Gone are my days where I'd get up and go out at 9.45. Oh to be young again!! C's behaviour has been great (touch wood) When it kicks off, it does take me by surprise, and I go into shock, as it is so unusual, but thankfully, this holiday has been lovely, and no surprises!!

Pq, I've never heard of that food place (I must get out more, hehe)

Hope you're on the mend Sparkling. Keep warm this weekend.

We had some flakes of snow here too but it has not come to anything (phew)

Teen group went well this morning, they were discussing a situation each of them had brought, it was fantastic as it covered situations such as alcohol, contraception and the whole issue of parental control and that as children grow, we tend to make an assumption about how we don't want them to change , whereas not only do they HAVE to change (as they become their own person) but also WE as parents have to change, too. SCARY or what?

Glad I can have a quiet rest of day as even though I love teen group, it's tiring

I have a bit of a situation here.....youngest normally gets home about 7 after Saturday night at the clubs and brekky out. Heard him come home about 4.30. Knew he had a bit of a sniffle though. Saw some different shoes in the hall, thought oh well he has bought those and not shown me them.but no! he came down a few minutes ago and explained he had a girl in his room (eek), she has been chucked out of somewhere, not sure where yet! She is at work today and got a friend to go to tonight (phew) I "think" she is just a friend. Anyway he has taken her a drink upstairs. Why do I feel a bit shocked? Will keep you posted.

Hi all,

Had a lovey evening with my friends on friday night and spent the day and evening with another friend on saturday. We had a day out to cambridge, haven't been there since I was a teenanger, it was lovely to wander around, although very chilly!

Louise, I think you are right to feel a little peeved that said girl didn't pop her head round the door at some point to say thank you....maybe she was very embarresed???

Sparkling, I very rarely go to the drs either but I know that feeling when you realise you have tipped over into being really poorly and need some help, hope the gp can sort you out.

Hazeleyes, sounds like you and C have had a lovely restful week, what a treat for you both.

My girls came back today, my parents brought them home for me. My dad did a few odd jobs round the house and my mum did some ironing, I gave them dinner and they have headed back home...parents can be fab sometimes.

The girls have returned as they left...in full bickering mode...my tranquility has truely been smashed.

Hi pq, welcome back to parenthood! Hopefully you are feeling a little revived though and ready to keep those boundaries in place, the pocket money strategy and family meetings?

Tonianne24, happy birthday for yesterday, I hope you had a good one Smile The One Space forums are used by members all over the UK and unfortunately we are unable to give out personal details, however info about your group in Bristol is in the Local Information forum.

sparklinglime, i hope you get a quick doctors appointment OR you have woken up this morning feeling better?

hazeleyes, I hope teacher training goes well, I bet C will love having the school to himself! Take it easy this evening, it sounds as though you have had such a relaxing time last week, so you need to ease gently into the new term :)

Hopeful, how did your essay writing go? I hope your cold didn't get in the way. When does your work have to be in by? (I am quietly smiling inanely, as I have finally handed in my last piece of work - yeehah!!)

Louise I would have been peeved too with no thank you's, but I hope you got the whole story from your son now. Smile

The party was fun on Saturday, didn't dress up as a band member (white vest top, blue jeans and tattoos!) in the end but wore a green silk top with black jeans and my daughter wore a red top with black jeans, so we did kind of make an effort!

I hope everyone has a good day!

Despite phoning on the dot of 8.30am, and it being continually engaged since, have got through and no slots left - try again tomorrow.

Ruddy ridiculous system - and I say that to my neighbour who struggles to get an appointment and she's a pensioner.

They don't let you call in either. Smile

Fun and games sorting out cooking for youngest, who got dragged around Asda while being yelled at for not mentioning it sooner than 7.50am on the day stuff was needed.

I love mornings.  Especially Monday mornings.

The funeral of my 'other' neighbour is on Friday.  Her daughter phoned me yesterday evening.

I hope first day back at school goes ok for everyone.

Glad you enjoyed your evening out kiera.

I actually think it's a teen thing Louise. My friend has a teen son, and his friends treat her house like their own, with no hello, goodbye or anything. Wouldn't have been like that in my day!!! Glad you enjoyed the film.

We have the same system at our Drs Sparkling, it is ridiculous, you're right. Hope you manage it for tomorrow morning. Do they do it where you can be at the door at a certain time (ours is 8) and then at least you know you're guaranteed an appointment at some point during the same morning?

Pq, I hope the girls soon settle for you. Had they been bickering at your parents too?

Waves to Anna, and everyone in the chatroom.
