Hi,

When I first speparated from my ex he would have the girls on a regular basis. The dates would be on the callender and everyone would know what was happening.

However over the past year things have changed. My ex changed his job and now has an irregular working pattern so we never know when he will be having them. Also he seems to be having them less frequently and for shorter periods of time.

The Git that happens to be the Father of my children - who hey, yes are practically grown up. He and The Gittess somehow manage to squeeze in a couple of visits a year.

These visits always cost ME money.

I so want to eff and blind. If someone was to take my blood pressure now the machine would explode.

Last Christmas it cost me £30 for him to get to Llandudno from Anglesey to meet him at the cinema.

This afternoon I read Sergiozeds comments on the programme Exposure, broadcasted yesterday. Sergiozed made a link to the ITV player but I cannot find the post anywhere now.

I took the time to watch it and was not surprised, as the UK is the only EU country that does forced adoptions, has the the highest rate with children going into care, highest in teenager pregnancies, and according to my parenting course teacher (nurses in mental health) the highest out of 21 countries with mental health.

where/ how do you draw strength and inspiration during the low points, what books, music etc

I come on this site generally when I'm feeling low or when my sons dad is been manipulative and Im feeling smothered by his behaviours.

I find reading the forums reminds me, firstly Im not alone, and secondly draw strength from others experiences and often insprired by a womans sheer will and determination to keep going in the face of adversity.

Looking to Start A House Share- Advice Please

A single mummy friend and I have recently started speaking about doing a house share together; we really enjoyed our holiday together last week, and our girls loved it too.

How have other single parents went about doing a house share, how many of the parents were claiming housing benefits, and has anyone found that it helped more by having at least one parent working at least part time?

Mental Health Awareness week

We are supporting Mental Health awareness week this year. It's focus is anxiety, and we think that this is an issue that affects single parents more than most. Between CSA, benefits and the stress of how to deal with relationship breakdown, not to mention dealing with the fall-out with the children, there is always so much up in the air that it's difficult not to start feeling that it's all just too much.

applying for schools

A is due to start school next september.

I have no idea how to apply for primary schools or applying/viewing start dates.

I know I have two schools by me- the nearest has a grade 4 ofsted report which I believe is the lowest you can get and the 2nd school is a Church Of England. I am agnostic so not sure she would get accepted into that one.

As a 1st time mummy I have no idea what im ment to do but read Im ment to start applying by start of 2015.

The oddest thing happened last night. For some reason, nothing to do with me (as far as I know! ), my new phone decided to Friend Request all friends of friends........I have been inundated with emails and notifications saying that xyz has accepted my friend request. So far I have had 156 acceptances!

These people come from all over the world, I can see who our mutual friend/friends are but for the vast majority I never heard of, let alone met.
