I'm J ....single parent to C who is 9 in April....I joined this site a while ago but it looks different - very fresh.....not sure whether it has been updated...
I live on Bedfordshire and have been a single parent for 5 years and happy with life...although wish the summer would come...not a winter person.
I'm also a member of the single parent travel club which is a really good organisation if you are looking to meet other single parents to go on holiday with...they have a fair few group holidays which means that are good value (its non profit!!)
There seems to be a few activities advertised on this forum in my area...so are there any Bedfordshire single parents on the forum?
Look forward to hearing from anyone...just say hello!
Hello daisyday
Hope you are well. am looking forward to the summer as well now. I have always wondered what the single parent travel club was like as i do not know anybody that belonged to it. Maybe it is one to try next time i take little DD away ( already booked a holiday this year for the two of us). Chit Chat room is good to talk in.
I have a little 2 year old DD who is my whole world now.
Thanks Louise & Wayne.....for welcome :-)
I've been on a fair few holidays with SPTC and also organise a few through the club....Last year there were 88 of us at Alton Castle for Halloween and we got reduced tickets to Alton Towers (£13 for children up to 18) and a value weekend @ just £40 per person.... I'm away over Easter with the club too...in Suffolk at a Country House - cheap and cheerful £25 for 3 nights.... although families go Disney....Skiing and lots more.... Nice friendly club but not commercial ...members arrange trips for members...
Will try chit chat later .....
That does sound good!
It is a good club...but I suppose a bit like One Space.... you get out what you put in....
If anyone is interested in the Easter Weekend ...let me know and I can give you details without you having to commit and join the club...I know how daunting these things are....
OK...off to have a mouch around the site now!
Hi daisyday. I would be interested in having a look at the site. Could you perhaps post the link please. Enjoy your scout around the site!
Hazeleyes.... not sure what link you were after...
There maybe a private room left that sleeps 1+1 at a cost of £40 per person for the 3 nights....and there is a shared room available for £25 per person for 3 nights (these are totals not per night!).
There are children from 4 to 12 on this trip both boys and girls... some of the families may have met each other once maybe twice but most have not met ... we will probably do some communual meals (Pasta/Pizza), BBQ if it is nice...there is a camp fire - again roast some Marshmellows if we can.... There are some good beaches not too far noteably Southwold....
Sorry my intro thread seems to have been hijacked by the SPTC.. but if it helps other single parents - then thats great!
hello daisyday
That's great that you can provide the info that will help people.
Here is the link to the main site again if anyone is interested in having a look
Its great to see a thread about SPTC
its only £20 to join and this gives you access to all our days out , short breaks and holidays, thats one off payment for lifetime membership
take a look at all the events members are organising , you could be one of them , if you have any questions please contact me , the club is overseen by a committee of single parent volunteers like me

MODERATOR: I am now closing this thread so it can be as it stands ie publicity for the Club, with links that members may want to explore.
Hi daisyday
Yes the website had an overhaul
Nice to see you here and I am glad to hear that you are finding it beneficial to be with the Single Parent Travel Club. Maybe you could tell us about any trips you have been on?
We ask you not to use your children's names on here so that is why I edited your daughter's name.
Others will be along later to say hello too.
