Hi, does anyone have any ideas how I can get around a problem I'm having?
I recently moved areas & know only one person here. I've been looking for work/training & found the perfect course that I am desperate to do, it's only one day a week but the problem is that it ends at 4 so I wouldn't get home until 4.30 & my daughter gets out of school at 3.15. I'm having major financial trouble & can't afford childcare out of my own pocket even if I can find someone to take her, the jobcentre are no help at all & the charity running the course has already used up their allocation for the year. My one friend works full time so wouldn't be able to help & I feel a bit stuck. This course would do my confidence the world of good, is in the area of work I want to go into & could lead to a lot of other opportunities. I just wanted to hear other peoples thoughts because I have no-one to talk to at the moment and my brain is struggling. Thanks in advance x
Hi Sally
Thanks for your suggestions. I found out that there's a karate class at her school, she'll do a trial session this week to see if she likes it & because I'm on the work programme, my adviser tells me I might be able to get funding to help pay the fees.
I'm feeling very positive about it now :)
What a creative solution, PM Silver, well done
Hi,
Just to update, I'm on week 3 of my course and really enjoying it. Many thanks for your encouragement!
I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end PMSilver, what course are you doing?
Hi PMSilver, i can empathise with your predicament, having been stuck several times for childcare myself.
In the past i have contacted the training providers to see if i am able to leave the training earlier and make up the time in the lunch break or possibly do the additional work out of the class.
Has your daughter made some new friends? i know that it can be difficult, but when desperate i have approached one of my childrens friends parents to see if they could have them for an hour or so after school that one day a week and offer to reciprocate on another day for them, though scary to ask, it has worked.
