We have been experiencing Anti Social Behaviour from our neighbours since Oct 2012. It started of with noise then eventually intimidation.
As a result of this, in Oct 2013 I put in a request to be rehoused as the safety of my Daughter and mine are paramount. The Police have been helpful, so has my Housing Advisor, after much never giving up battle with the Environmental Health Team, they will now look to prosecute the anti Socials. But unfortunately this does not stop my neighbours, they still continue their nasy behaviours and has affected my health immensely, (our home no longer feels like home) and we live in fear.
We avoid my neighbours to avoid confrontation. But Bristol City Council (BCC) Rehousing team keep fobbing me off and I am worried that I will miss out on the opportunity to be offered on the properties that I have bidded on (they have banded me a 5 whilst completing their investigations). BCC were supposed to get back to me with an update on the 7th Jan 2014, thei has not happened!
I contacted my MP Stephen Williams, Alex Smethurst always replied on his behalf. They did not help me with the noise team so I asked for help with the rehousing team, again I am only left feeling like a "number". I addressed my concerns to my MP of their services, and Alex Smethurst implied that I have to beg them nicely to get their support. Furthermore that they don't have to resolve issued on our behalf!
I am not eligible for legal aid, I have put in a complaint but wanted to know how else I can get BCC to get their act together.
(I can't believe Stephen Williams Officers behaviour, it's appalling)
Please can someone help me?
Thanks in advance guys xx
Hi Sally W
Thank you for taking the time to get intouch. I spoke with Shelter and they said that Complaining to the council formally is the way forward.
It's really bad because the Government wants us to work but when you ask for help from them they expect you to give up your life to make yourself heard. It's been so stressful on us.
Thank you again
Take care :)
Gosh it does sound stressful JazBling. Did you get a response from BCC after you put in a complaint?
Hi Anna. Thank you for your time :) I only put in the complaint in writing on Sunday. But yes it is a very stressful tiring emotional time.
Thanks for asking
I said to BCC (via complaint and my MP Stephen Williams) that Anti Social Behaviour issues need to be taken more seriously, look what happened to poor Mr Bijan Ibrahimi, he got beaten and murdered! It's so sad when we are let down, expecially when it's the very people we rely on, like our local government!
I'm afraid I don't have any advice, I just wanted to wish you well. That sounds like an awful situation to be in. I hope it's resolved very soon.
Aaww thank you just_immi :) I appreciate your kind thoughts for me and my Daughter.
Also thank you for responding to my introduction, I did try and reply but it did not let me (technical error) so I set up an independent one.
I hope you and your family are well
It's nice to have support, I am pleased that I did raise it on One Space :-)
Take care
aww i so hope u get right response you are waiting for. my heart goes out to u both. What a nightmare to be living in and effecting u both emotionally. Keep us up dated it sounds like u are doing everything u possibly can and it must b so frustrating for u .
Aaww thank you very much flowers. Yes it's a waiting game and it is frustrating. I also found out that any bids that I have put on a property will be discredited due their delay in processing my appeal. I also live near family who help with childcare if I'm going to late arriving from work and during half term, so our future is very uncertain at the moment. But thank you for your concerns and taking the time to respond to me. I will let you guys know once I get a verdict. Take care x
We'll be thinking of you JazBling.
You mentioned that you were in Bristol, are you coming to SPAN's annual Event - Make a Positive Impact?
Hi Anne
Thank you for your kind thoughts and taking the time to reply
I always have always attended the SPANs AGM but this year I am unable to because I have a hospital appointment and because St Michaels does not have the eqip needed to do checks for my Balancing Vertigo, I have to travel to Southmead via bus for 10.20am. So depending on what time I get seen and return back to Easton that I can attend. It is a shame because I think it's so important to share knowledge and experience, most importantly support eachother. Also it would be nice to see everyone. It is really sad :(
If I can help in another way please guys let me know x
Sorry Anna for spelling your name incorrectly xx
Its a shame we won't see you there, I am not sure who you are!! However good luck at the hospital
Hi Anna, yeah I am disappointed that I can't make it. I must admit as well that I do no recognise your name, but I'm sure we will recognise eachother by face? I worked closely with Laura Dewar when I was made redundant in July 2013 and I came to the meeting at SPAN on the 04th Oct 2013.
Thank you for your kind thoughts, I wonder what they are going to tell me at the Hospital.
Take care :-)
Hi JazBling, we are going to be running a focus group shortly about how we can improve One Space, would you be interested?
Would other people be interested if I put some sort of survey online? (Not like the usual one we have to do for funders, but more about what you want to see and info that you would like)
Hi Anna
Yeah I'd be interested
Thank you letting me know :-)
Hi JazBling
Here is a link to the information on the focus group Anna has mentioned, you will find contact information in it if you would like to express an interest in attending.
Thank you Sally W, I have sent my reply by clicking onto the link
I have a update on my rehousing issue. BCC refused to acknowledge that we are suffering from Anto Social Behaviour, they did not take into my account my health issues and they ignored that fact that we arre afraid to leave and live in our home! So they banded me a 4! They didn't backdate it (even though they delayed it by months)! It's a nightmare, they want me to live here and pay rent. But if I moved out then they can not allow another family to live here which means it benefits the Council for me to live here! So the Council do not care about our welfare only their money pot! I have got back in touch with Shelter, because the Council are forcing me to become homeless and even more ill. In the meantime I have also asked for information from the Freedom Of Information team regarding Clarification on Rehousing.
Sorry to hear that the Council are still not taking this seriously JazBling, I hope that Shelter has information that will help.
Thank you Sally W, I hope so too. I'm just awaiting to hear from them.
Hi JazBling
Have you contacted Shelter (click for link) to see if they can suggest something?
