Hi
Im currently unemployed and claiming job seekers allowance.
I have just recieved a new job coach and she is determined to send me on a month long training course for employability work skills.
I have no objection to this, except for the fact that Avanta sent me on this same course only three months ago and I passed with flying colours.
In truth, I found this course to be of little help to me, if I was not a native english speaker or had not attended compulsary education then the course would have been of great help to me.
As it was however, I was completing coursework that an 11 year old freind laughed at and said she was doing more advanced work in middle school.
I was wondering if anyone had any information on what courses were available in the hope I can talk my jobcoach into sending me on a different course.
I have no objection to attending a training course, and would probably even enjoy it, but I find it rediculous that I be sent on the same course twice ( with the money coming out of my training budget) when the course is not teaching me helpfull skills, and to display that I have attended it on a CV amounts simply to an advertisment that I have been unemployed for too long.
My job coaches rationalisation is that she isnt sending me on the course for what I might learn but because they will report to her periodically and she will be able to assess weather I am taking my responsibilities as a job seeker seriously.
This is not good enough for me as I would rather spend my time doing somthing that will have a positive influence on my future and my prospect of finding a job.
Please give me any advice you have, I am sorry this is so long but I thank you for taking the time to read this.
Thanks again.
Kind Regards
Jonathan
Hello dark-light
Are you a single parent, I wonder, as that is the group for whom we provide information and different rules apply so we can't really help you if you are not a single parent.
You need to ask to speak to the Manager as it is ridiculous to repeat the course, I agree!
