Other cool stuff that comes in handy is some sort of post production/cataloging type softwear. Before I got Lightroom (that's what the professionals use) I used Picasa, it's made by google and it's free, in the sense that you don't have to pay for it, monetarily anyhow, I could now enter into a philasophical monalog as to how nothing is ever actualy free, but now is probably not the time or place.

Plans for Hallowe'en/Bonfire Night

Have you got any plans? Do you have things you do every year? Do you give out sweeties to those who come to your door?

Maybe you choose not to celebrate them, I have a friend who is Catholic and they choose to overlook Bonfire Night and I know a couple of the churches hereabouts feel Hallowe'en is anti-religion and put on alternative parties for the children that night.

My boys are grown up now but I keep a stock of chocolate biccies in for little visitors.

Irritating and interfering!

In the run-up to the arrival of the Royal baby, there is a funny article on the BBC website today, listing the ten most irritating types of advice for parents. I have been on the receiving end of some of this over the years, have you? What I found was the worst was the way that complete strangers just come up to you in the street and say things like "Should he be squashed in that baby carrier like that?" or "Somebody's cutting a tooth" or (worst of all) "MINE never used to make a fuss in the shops/dentist/church/bus" GRRRRR is all I can say!

Hi,

I have had a couple of things happen to me this weekend which have resulted in me having to complain. The first was a dodgy haircut, the second was my relatively new front door lock failed and the company don't want to honour the gaurentee. Anyway the reason I have started this thread is because I have realised I am rubish at complaining. I am a mouse when I should be a man....if you get what I mean!

What are your experiences of complaining? I need the strength and encouragement to follow this through.

Well it seems all i ever talk about on here is doom and gloom so thought id share some of the funny stories I have been experiencing with my littleangel who is now 9 going on 15 and has the ability to prove to me in 10 seconds flat i am anything but a 'cool' parent...

Her favourite phrase at the moment is "mum you are SO embarressing" I literally dont have to do anything other than say hi to her friends and i have 'embarressed' her.

Having a teenager or two in the house can be a stressful time for any parent, especially one who is managing alone.

We can no longer tell them exactly what to do and how to do it and we want them to learn by their mistakes but at the same time we don't want them to make the same ones as we made.

They can be adorable and they can be incredibly infuriating! The other day I was feeling frustrated about my teen and then I had to stop and check myself, what was I really like at her age?! So here is a thread for us to remember the pains that we put our parents through!

Ok my friend the taxi driver picked up three elderly ladies from their OAP lunch club. It was St David's Day, (the Welsh patron saint)

Driver: Well ladies, did you know it is St David's Day today?
