Hi,

 

I am hoping someone out there can help me on this Smile

 

I got married in Turkey to an Englishman in 2002 seperated in 2007.

Divorce proceedings were set in place but my husband would never sign the papers.

I have now found he has re married!!!

 

I just need to know if my marriage was ever legal in the UK????

I have spoken to a solicitor regarding this and all they can tell me is that the divorce never went through as no papers were signed by myself or my ex husband.

 

Would appreciate any help on this

Hi ang, welcome, are you Turkish?

Do you have a marriage certificate?

How many children do you have? Do they see their father?

Lots of questions, sorry but need more information, although if you solicitor said you aren't divorced,  I guess they are right!

Hi. If you never got divorced, then I'm thinking he's commited bigamy, which would get him in lots of trouble. I would listen to the solicitor. Good luck.

Hi Anna,

I am British and thankfully dont have any children with him Smile

I have got a marriage certificate from Turkey but not sure if i ever registered the marriage in the Uk.

 

I am so at a loss here it just seems that i cant get a definite answer to whether i am divorced or was never legally married?????

hi im not sure on this one but i would have thought that your solic would be the best one to get in touch with again. cant they find out whether the marriage was reg here ?

have you tried ringing up the registar office to see if your ex did reg the marriage? or you could try cab for advice see if they can offer any help

sorry i cant advise much but i would say your solic is the best one to go back too good luck

Hi,

Thanks for that.Have tried solicitors on this and they cant seem to help thats all they keep telling me is that i am not divorced but cant advise if the marriage was legal over here.

Tried births,deaths and marriages and thats all they advised was that we are not divorced!!!This is sooooooooo frustrating Undecided
