Hi Everybody,
I am bracing myself for my first Milestone Birthday since my 21st, I am on 40 on Sunday and feeling a little old, even though I don't usually feel it I am going all Cath Kidstone and flowery and it just is not me. Argggggghhhh help
I wondered if anyone else has a milestone coming up, or even better how you celebrated or commiserated the event.
I have no celebratory plans and have arranged to work just to escape the "suprise" party trap.
Look forward to your replies xx
I have decided to make everyone a milestone birthday, ha!!!! I'm worth it!!! I shall hit the magic 46 this year.
Let's see what ideas my not-so-little-anymore people can come up with, huh?
I'm 50 in August. My friend and her friend (my new friend after meeting her at my friend's 60th) will be coming to stay in a local Travelodge for a few days. They want a 'girlie' lunch at some point, but they will be joining me and the children at the local pub for a birthday tea. Nothing different to the last few years really.
I'm trying to decide what to buy myself though. I've been watching claranets on ebay, as I always wanted to play one! Or perhaps a Kindle as I know I won't be reading anymore college books once these two essays are gone!
I agree with Hopeful. Every birthday is a milestone, and a chance to pat ourselves on the back.
Glad you are looking at a nice celebration, sparkling
I have not had any milestone birthdays myself for a while, Murray72 you share a birthday with my eldest daughter, it was her 13th Birthday on Sunday, she wanted chinese food and a lemon cake
I just found this quote for you and I love it
40 is the old age of youth; 50 is the youth of old age
Did you have a good day?? What did you get up to?
Sally, I hope your new teenager had a good day too!
I Love that quote thank you Anna. I had an amazing day and felt like it was a watershed for me, after my 30's been difficult it is great to look to the future knowing the bad stuff is behind me, I was spoilt by my Son's and enjoyed family time, I am not a party type of person and was dreading having one sprung on me. Phew I escaped.
Sally, Happy Birthday to your 13 year old, I had a lovely chinese meal too my Mum even made me a choc cake ha ha I enjoyed every bite.
Life has only just begun for me woohoo
Woo hoo, you go girl!! Glad you had a lovely day.
I felt the same relief as you are describing when I hit 30, I had friends who were bemoaning the age and I was 'Hooray - thank god thats over - the rest of my life is mine '
I'm glad you had a lovely birthday Murray72
Hey Murray72, I am hitting the big 4-oh this year too, my daughter will be 18 too! I have spent the last 18 years wishing for this year and it is finally here, yeehah!
I plan to do as many things as possible. One thing includes having a photoshoot of me and 8 of my closest friends in a black and white landscape frame :)
I always said that if I didn't get married by the time I was 40 I would have a 'Princess for a day' party!! Ha ha, the idea being that if you get married then you get to wear an over the top dress and have everyones attention - and I Want That! Although the hiring of a hall, buying expensive fancy dress, getting music and food, is currently an expense that I can't cover!
I have been considering going to Disneyland Paris as I have never been and always wanted to as a kid and I never managed to get my daughter there either, so that thought is there.
I can't believe you are not going to do anything at all??
