Hello everyone, I'm a single mum after my partner passed away in Dec 2010. We had a daughter together (now aged 5) and he was step dad to my son (now 12) I'm finally getting back on my feet and have joined this site looking to make friends with other single mums/dads.
welcome dizzyn - sorry to hear about your partner - you will meet lots of new friends here - everyone is great
Hi dizzyn and welcome to One Space!
Firstly I am very sorry to hear of your bereavement, I can only imagine what you have been through and all the different emotions you have had to cope with, as well as the practical things.
I hope you soon feel at home here, I think of it as a big kitchen table where we can pull up a chair at any time and be sure that sooner or later, someone comes along to share a cuppa with us. We've got lots of information on practical topics too.
Tell us a bit about your children? Do you have local family/friends who help out?
Hi dizzyn. Welcome along. I'm so sorry to hear about your partner. How are you all coping? Like the others have said, it really is a great site, warm and friendly, so I do hope you stay with us.
Hi, thanks for your lovely warm welcome. My daughter is 5 and my son is 12. They have kept me going over the last year. I'm far too independant for my own good and find it hard to ask for help. I have a small family and some really good friends but they all seem to be married or in relationships!
I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel and would like to make some new friends who understand what being a single parent is all about.
:)
Well we certainly do that on here, dizzyn
You might also like to have a read of our article Making New Friends, which has lots ot tips about this very topic.
I am presuming you are all fulltime mum at the moment with no work outside the home, have you had any thoughts about whether you would like to do any courses etc for the future?
Hi Louise, yes I gave up work last year as I just couldnt handle the pressure. I'm currently studying part time on a counselling course which I really enjoy. Its something for me and I'm hoping to become a counsellor once I'm fully qualified. I'll have a look at the article about making new friends, thanks for the advice
Hi dizzyn, that all sounds interesting, and your own emotional experiences will help you a great deal if you do go ahead with the counselling,
Is it back to school after halfterm this morning?
Hi dizzyn
I'm so sorry for you loss.
I'm glad you're enjoying the course
This is a great board for support and friendship - even if it is virtual...
Hi dizzyn
Sorry to hear about your loss. But glad you have found your way to One Space
Your course sounds interesting how long have you got left til you are qualified?
