The Evening Chronicle is looking to talk to single parents in the North East about unpaid child support.

Are you a mother or father who has had to get by without receiving child support payments from your ex? Have you suffered as a result?

If so, then we would love to hear your story.

Please get in touch as soon as possible.

I commend you for saying mother or Farther : ) unfortunately I do get £5 from my wife, not that I'd miss it anyway.

I would have thought that anyone receiving only £5 a week child support could fall into the category that Ben is investigating if the small amount of help is causing finan cial problems...the knock-on effect of the other parent being on benefits and there being very few jobs around..... THAT might be a significant part of his findings. So if this applies to anyone in the North East then do think about dropping him an email

She's not refusing to pay it, that is the amount that CSA says she has to pay and then DWP takes it out of what ever benefit she is on. From his initial message I assume he is looking into partners that don't make their payments that they are supposed to do.

If she wins the lottery and refuses to give me anything for the kids I'll get in touch : )

I don't actually think there is any point in the five pounds payment myself and in fact I didn't want it but when I first went on to income support, when I became a single parent, the person dealing with my claim insisted that I had to claim it from CSA. I have since found out, or I am am lead to believe anyway that that wasn't the case, but it's done now.

Five pounds, woopy doo! what should I spend it on.

It might be six pounds actually as she didn't pay anything for ages and was in arrears.

Pointless!

I had a CSA letter when my eldest hit 19 saying now you are only entitled to £10 a week rather than the £15 a week previously. I phoned them up and said I have had nothing for years, just close the case. Former father in law found out and now ensures I receive £10 a week.....which pays for son's college fares two days a week!

Thanks for the comments Bubblegum. Unfortunately I am looking for someone from the North East who has had no child support payments at all. If you know anyone who maybe interested in talking about their experience then please pass on their details.

:)
