Hi
I feel a bit of a fraud on here, but Im asking on behalf of my friend who is from Europe and is a little overwhelmed by the processes in this country for claiming money from an ex partner to support her child..!
This must be a well answered question on here, but hopefully someone can help me!
My friend is separated from the father, and he has never provided any maintenance. How can she go about getting this? She lives here, and so does he (although sh is not too sure where, but has mum and dads address) but my understanding is that he claims to be paid outside of tax brackets (ie cash in hand)
Im not too sure this is true, and would encourage her to pursue this. She has a NI number and is resident here in UK etc...
Can anyone help me help her? I am going to direct her to this forum / website as well.
My thanks xx
Hi TomBhoy, what i would suggest is that your friend contact our 1-2-1 money advice service.
They are only able to answer questions from single parents with care, I'm afraid, so please do get her to send them an email and they can give her all the advice and support that she needs.
Hi and welcome!
The CSA deals with things like that http://www.csa.gov.uk/ (sorry anna, will try to brush up on hyperlinks, I promise!)
My ex husband went awol and I just gave them all the contacts I had for him including his mother and friends. It took them a while, but they found him and they put a court order on his salary. It should be no problem, if your friend is an EU national (I am!)
Hope that helps!
