pink lilly

Just wondering if anybody feels like mw in summer. I have stretch marks, a minimal saggy belly that simply will not go back .... then I turn around and see aome really slim girl in hot pants, looking really good.    Sometimes,  I wish I could have that type of body yknow? Some women's bodies go back too .... how? :0 xx

I am quite surprised that ANYONE has a body that goes back after having a baby. Celebrities seem to have personal trainers and as for the rest of us, sometimes it is luck and sometimes it is hard work. If it really bothers you, you could try an exercise routine (the secret is to do it every day, come what may) or you could think about joining a class such as Pilates to improve your strength and posture. Joining a class could be fun as well.

However, our bodies, like our faces, tell the story of our lives. Stretch marks are a bit of a badge of honour of motherhood. I think they are harder to cope with while you are young and more conscious of your appearance.

It's more about confidence than anything. I particularly think that when I go to the seaside, that is always a confidence-booster when you see how flabby and wrinkly so many other people are..let's face it, if you are going to compare yourself to slim young girls, then make sure you compare yourself to wrinklies too!

pink lilly, how many men do you know have the perfect body? And if they do, are they the kind of chap you want to be with anyway?!

to be honest, i love men that dont have this stereotypical body, i'd prefer a hairy medium built man rather than a buff, muscle built man man :)

Ah well pink lilly you don't expect perfection in a man but you expect it in yourself!!! Any man who would "mind" that you had a few stretch marks wouldn't be the partner you would choose for yourself anyway, I reckon Wink

I like the idea that each stretch mark is a representation of your baby's stretches and kicks! Thats sweet!

A lot of us here in the office are trying to lose weight it is very funny, because we think that we are going to end up with the svelte figure that we may have had in our teens, however the reality is that we may become a little fitter, stronger etc, but it is unlikely that we will ever have the body of a 20 year old again! So lets love the body we have and worry about the bigger things in life.

Hi anna - thats very true, there are WAY bigger things to worry about, thanks for putting it into perspective. I think its on my mind as i know the way society is today, thin this and beauty that, does my head in to be honest.

Any chance you could summarise what naomi wolf is saying, i dont understand it :O .......

Know what you mean, pink lilly, it's a bit mysterious..As I read it, it is saying that her view is women worrying about their weight all the time keeps them in their place, as they are spending so much time doing that, they are docile. EEEK if that is true!

Women are powerful beings, many years ago we were worshipped for being givers of life. Over the centuries we have been suppressed and I believe that all the effort that goes into us worrying about our looks, our weight, our manner, in fact our whole being, is about control and to stop us really seeing what is going on in the world, because if we realised our power, there would be an uprising!!

I have not only not got a problem with my strechmarks (mind, I've never been comfortable in a bikini, but that has nothing to do with the strechmarks), but I also don't have a problem with going swimming without the prothesis, looking like an Amazonian warrior woman. If people want to stare, let them.

This attitude does not stop my friend from standing ready with a towel as soon as I get out the water when she's with me. Bless her! :-)
