I just got back from my daughters parents evening, my two go to different schools at the moment as our local primary is split into two.. but anyway, as I suspected, she's a genius, obviously having gotten bother her looks and her brains from ME!
So I'm feeling rather happy, only thing was her teacher told me that she is rather shy and quiet which leads me to believe that she may be suffering from some sort of mental type split personality sort of thing, seeing as at home she's loud, bossy and anything but shy and quiet.
: )
Awww. That's brilliant!
Well done to your little girl Bubblegum, and well done to you too.
I am proud : ) it's nice when someone says something nice about your children, it washes away all those doubts you have as a to how you might be parenting, for a while at least.. : )
Yes it does, although it is sad to have doubts. I don't mean we should be strutting around self-righteously (as if, lol) but that we can have the courage of our convictions more deeply ingrained.
I'm always double guessing myself and often feel guilty for telling them off or telling them they can't have or do something, I want them to question all authority and rules (just not mine ha!). Have you ever heard of Stelton? I want my children to think and not just do, except sometimes I want them to just do what ever it is I happen to wanting them to do at that given moment, like wear a particular coat without them questioning me as to why, why can't they wear some other coat and I don't want to get into a conversation about the weather and appropriate clothing for rain, especially when we are just trying to step out the door and I thought everything was sorted.
This is a good read and has given me much to think about when it comes to mine and trying to let them develop freely, as best I can given the world we live in anyway.
I have never heard of Stelton and enjoyed reading that, thanks. I must say that "education" to me, should boarden the mind and encourage independent thought rather than mould us all into compliant clones. However, the dilemma is that practicalities occur, such as the coat scenario you describe, where "Because I say so" seems to be the most appropriate answer
Well yes, many children seem to suffer from that, Bubblegum
Glad she is doing so well, you must be very proud!!!!
