I live with J whos 9 and he has ADHD and is my world and best mate
I have been a single parent since new years day. My hobbies are being a single dad and taking J to various football matches he plays in or kickboxing lessons.
Mondays tasks nearly done, just waiting for bedsheets to dry lol

Hello kpw99, good to see you here. Good to know your son enjoys his sports, does he have any support with his ADHD?
hi louise, he loves his sport. the school help him and understand him but apart from them we dont, he is on meds which last 12 hrs so its pretty manageable
That's good to know. Is your son's mum still around? Maybe you could tell us a bit more about your situation?
mum is still around, she sees him for a couple of hours after school on wednesday, and she rings every night for a couple of minutes. She walked out on new years day night 10 minutes after coming home for the first time in 4 days. 8 days later i found out she was having an affair with a woman for the last 6 months. She wanted me out of the house and move back in with her lover and my son. but i didnt want to leave my son and he wanted to live with me. I also got made redundent in January and had my car written off for me, and had a court order slapped on me by her because she told lies to her solicitor but thats been quashed now, but apart from that its been a good year
Hi kpw99 and welcome from me too! It sounds as though you have had a pretty tough 2013.
How is your son coping? It sounds as though you have kept him involved with the sports that he loves and life as normal as you possibly could for him.
How are you coping? Did you know that your relationship was on the rocks?
My son is coping really well, he has seen what has happened. My ex and her girlfriend sat him down 8 days after she had left and told him "this is my new partner"
I knew that the relationship was going through a bad patch and i tried everything i could to make it better, now i know i was fighting a loseing battle because she was having the affair

Morning kpw, it feels really important that you are keeping things level for your son, everything must have come as a real shock to both of you. It does not sounds as if his mum was very tactful in the way she told him and she is not spending much time with him now.
What are your thoughts about work, have you had to sign on for Job Seeker's allowance? We have seen quite a few single parents being treated unsympathetically bu the Job Centre!

I am not looking for work as I am my sons full time carer due to his disability. I have claimed all the relevant benefits that I can.

You have been through an awful shock and your ex must have been having a tough time too, do you think things could be amicable again between you? I imagine you and your son have had some interesting conversations this year too!
