Is taking revenge ever a good idea?

I'm writing a magazine story about whether it’s ever a good idea to take revenge on someone who you feel has hurt or betrayed you. It doesn't have to be about trashing their favourite suits or sleeping with their brother, it can be anything. Did it make you feel good or looking back was it a bad idea?
