It is very important that you take part in our study! The Families 24/7 study aims to explore the reconciliation of work and family life. At the moment, we are inviting lone mothers of children under 13 to fill in the questionnaire because more and more lone mothers are working, but not enough is known about how this impacts their family life. We will also be able to see if there are any differences between mothers who work standard and non-standard hours. Given that an increasing number of people are working outside the standard hours of 8am to 6pm, it is of vital importance that we understand the particular issues that lone mother families face. Participation in this study is voluntary and anonymous: at no point will you have to provide us with your name or address. You can also withdraw from the questionnaire for any reason at any stage.

Your contribution is vital!

The questionnaire is open from April 11th to June 30th 2013.

You can find the questionnaire through this link: http://digiumenterprise.com/answer/?sid=1004964&chk=6PZSXW3W

Ah, I just got chucked out of the survey because my children are older than 12.

This doesn't mean, however, that I have nothing to say on the subject. On the contrary. It is not that long ago that I was raising 4, on my own, and had to sort out childcare. I am sure the issues I faced have not gone away (childcare costs have probably gone up, and childminders are equally hard to find and what DO you do when you should be at a meeting at 9, but your childminder insists you don't bring your child because it has a temperature).

I could, of course, go back to the survey and pretend the children were still young.

Thank you all for your comments and interest in our research!

Hopeful: I am really sorry that we didn't bring out that important point, you mentioned, in the covering letter. Indeed, we are focusing on studying parents of children under 13 years in our Families 24/7 research project. I have now edited the text to be more precise. Even though you could not take part in our study, we greatly appreciate your interest in our research project!

Anna: Of course, I’ll be happy to send you a link to the article of the study once published, by email for example. However, as the study is in its early stages, it is probably going to take place sometime during years 2014–2015. Please, send me your email and I’ll be in touch.
