Computer Problem, Can Anyone Help!!! Damsel in distress!!
Hi
Just another prob to try my patience! I am able to access the internet, but when I click on the Internet Explorer icon, I get a message that website expired. If I then click on Favourites, scroll down, I can access One Space, buttttttt, we cannot access FB, (and my son does the farm). Also I cannot access my BT mail or Yahoo mail. When I click for it, the message website expired appears. Is anyone computer minded????? Sadsy, Bubblegum??
I know Sparkling isn't able to get onto the internet either, but not really sure what the problem is on her computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Take care
Alison

Hooray! Glad (and very surprised :? ) that it worked, not going to add "IT expert" to my CV yet though....
We had some more snow here overnight but not much. I had a long drive yesterday, set off late as the roads wer like glass, was relieved to get home.
Was your son's school closed yesterday, alisoncam? I imagine that most schools will be open today.....keep us posted
Hi Louise
Schools were and are open, much to the disgust of some parents! We've had rain, so this morning, it was quite icy going to school. A few people actually fell, one Mum was near to tears as she fell and really hurt herself. No grit in playgrounds. I've been sitting here anxiously expecting a call from the school, saying my son has hurt himself! I will be so relieved to get him home safe and sound. I will make the decision tomorrow as to if I think it's safe enough to walk. Quite honestly I don't care what the Head will make of it, I'm past caring!
Still no cigs, since yesterday morning. I've had two hour phone call from son's half sister's mum, and could easily have reached for one. My mouth is zipped regarding lots of things about the 'sperm doner' with her. Was told today, she has been speaking to him, and even asked what price it would be for all of us to have a holiday where he works :o I put her straight on that one, my son isn't interested, and I sure as hell wouldn't want to take my son. Getting into debt to visit a father that doesn't pay maintenance or wants anything to do with him????? Get a life.
Oh god, here I go again. Sometimes I feel like I'm going insane. Being without the phone line was actually bliss. At least I didn't have to dread it ringing.
Got to grab a sweet or two now.
Take care when you're out and about Louise

Thanks alisconcam :)
I had to drive again today but it wasn't too bad and the roads were really quiet as everyone is avoiding driving. Someone gave me a copy of that Paloma Faith CD, which is really good so I sang along as I drove.
Walking in it is a different kettle of fish altogether. It is like an ice rink. I can well imagine that there were lots of falls at school. The good news is that the thaw seems to be coming and once it has all melted and the water drained away then the iciness should ease. I have never known anything like it any other winter, let us hope that this is the last of it now.
Sorry to hear you had to endure a two-hour phone call :? Do you remember we were discussing limiting how much time you spend on her? I have just been trying to think of a cunning plan to limit the time and the best I have come up with so far is that when she phones , you immediately say "oh hello X, I have just got half an hour today, as I have an appointment, I will just set the alarm on my phone so we don't overrun." When the alarm goes off, if she won't respond to your remarks that you must go, try the technique of repeating her name over and over again (this is while she is still talking) Eventually she will stop and you can get your goodbyes in. For difficult phone calls I find writing a script helps. if you keep a card by the phone with your chosen assertive phrases then it is much easier to read them out.
And by the way I do agree the holiday sounds rather bizarre! :o
You did really well not to have a ciggie when she phoned!!!!!!!!! :D
Hi Alison
Sorry to hear that you had to endure 2 hours with the other mum but I do think that what Louise has suggested is great advice for al of us to use when we have difficult phone calls to deal with. Thanks for that Louise.
Well done for not reaching for the cigs during that phone call though Alison and for doing so well with cutting back/quitting. a big pat on the back for you.
Has all the snow started to thaw where you are? It has all gone here and I hope we don't get more again now. It was nice at first but I am ready fo spring now! I know what you mean about Jan 2010 not being so great as I have been ill for the vast majority of it. i often think that Jan and Feb are quite hard to deal with as there is all the excitement of a new year but then jan and feb are not such great weather - still cold and dark.
Roll on march and april I say! do you have a least favourite and best month?
Cheers C-L

This woman never ceases to amaze me with her ideas...
Hi Sparkling
Good to see you up and working, (computer that is). I can't get onto Yahoo messenger at all. Won't accept ID or password. Messed around with it for days, but don't know what else to do. :(
Will catch up with you soon hopefully. Have fun with Thumper.
Take care

I have been hoping to catch you too.
I've decided that computers hate me!
xxx

I've decided that computers hate me!
that would be an idea. :)
Now then, alisoncam, one swallow doesn't make a summer. In other words, I don't know the answer!
Sounds like it is Yahoo's problem rather than yours though. Can you email them?
Ok, I've been fiddling with it all afternoon, (yahoo messenger), I uninstalled it, then tried re-installing it, but it gets right to the end, then stops because of some error or other
I tried getting some sort of help on line, but oh no, that's too easy, so to that question Louise, the answer is I cannot even get help from Yahoo!
I shall give it another go tomorrow, in the meantime, I am ready to head off to bed.
I drank half of the sleepeasy drink, (I tried C-L honestly). Maybe even that half will help me a bit. Thankyou anyway for recommending something :)
Take care all
Alison

Hi Alison
I am sure half is enough to do the trick! I first added a teaspoon of honey to it to make it a bit more easy to swallow but have got totally used to it neat now!
Sleep well

Pidgin is a good IM client and you can be logged into multiple protocols at the same time, so like you can be logged into MSN and Yahoo at the same time and have all your contacts in one place
It's good.
Hello alisoncam
I am no expert (far from it  ) I was going to say try downloading Mozilla Firefox as an alternative browser but of course you need to go on the Net to do that DURRRR. Try going onto your favourites and once you get the One Space page up then type the address of what your son wants in to the address bar...or have you got a Google bit on your browser bar at the top? It sounds like an Internet Explorer problem rather than your computer
