Hello from Leamington Spa
I am the mother of an 18 month daughter.
I moved to the area to escape Cardiff city without a clue about this area, and the pregnancy happened, and the father was a skunk.
So I am just getting used to being a mum, weighing up what to do next, I havent worked yet. I wouldn't want to do more than 16 hours, but with no family to hand to help with childcare it financial doesnt add up after paying for childcare. So I am looking to volunteer through the Children Centers.
I am finding the looooooong lonely evenings excruciating.
I am 38 years old and finding it difficult to find mums in similar situations. I was nieve to think I would meet loads of single mums and we would all help each other out. Well 18 months on and I am feeling very stuck.
Would like to hear from people to help the evenings fly.
I am finding this layout and format very confusing, how do I keep track of my post? I am sure there was a reply previous to yours now I cant see it.
We are both busy everyday at the children centers. I just moved here so dont know anyone personally, I have no family support and the mums I meet in the day have their own family to be with in the evenings/weekends.
Hi leamington Spa
Welcome to One Space. Have you tried the mother and toddler groups? I actually didn't really like them, but others swear by them. I did find though that once my son started nursery/school, I started making new friends.
It must be quite daunting for you though as you're in a new area etc, though also exciting at the same time?
Keep posting, as this is a really great site, and the people are wonderfully supportive.
Take care
Alison

hello there
I am sorry to hear you are feeling low in the evenings. This site has been a bit quieter in the alst few days sue to an overhaul but now we are up and running again, we will have plenty of people on here to day hello to you.
Have you been in touch with your Health Visitor to find out about toddler groups etc in your area? Also try net mums, see this link http://www.netmums.com/coffeehouse/
I know that not everyone using these services will be lone parents but there will be some and anyway other parents will be glad to have friends even if they are partnered. So stay with us, though as there is plenty going on here
