If you havent seen this then you must
I hadn't thought of that : )
It's weird isn't it that at first no-one would hug him, although that might have been his velvet jacket!
The beginning of the film he looked like he was in an English high street, we are so wary of one another. But actually what fabulous therapy for those days when you are feeling a little blue and dealing with the whole world on your own. I LOVE hugs and regularly try to gain one from my daughter! She is now the same height as me so it is lovely, but I have to say the best hugs are when she comes to me for one, oh yeeaahh!
the best hugs are when she comes to me for one, oh yeeaahh!
:)
I like that too, despite that fact that my son thinks he is beyond cuddles and kisses in public, he still comes running if he hurts himself : )
My 14 year old allocates me one hug and kiss per day at bedtime......unless I let him stay out past his usual time and then I "deserve" an extra one
The guy is called Juan Mann and he tells a story on his website about the little old lady at the beginning of the video. Apparently her dog died that morning and it was coincidentally the first anniversary of her only daughters death in a car crash. The one thing she desperately needed was a hug - and there he was. I love this video - it puts a whole different spin on the world. Big hugs to all.
Oh gosh, that is so sad.
I know that 52 weeks to the day after my dad died, my mum's cat died. She was devastated. Very different, I know, but she did have me (and my oldest boy, who was a baby) and I had her...
Thank you so much for the post Bubblegum! I thought it was great and I love these starnge campaigns that go on in the world - they might seem quite small but they do make a difference to those that were involved and now with the internet to those that get to see about it so it reacher even more people which is fantastic. What a lovely story about the old woman and she seems to start off a realy flow of other people to have a hug which was good too!
I am always asking for hugs and kisses from my two children and my daughter can be a real tease about whether she is going to give me one or not! But yes the best are the ones that come from them without being asked - something money just couldn't buy!
Thank you - it has made my birthday even more cheery!

Here is another clip that makes me well up inside and feel like crying but in a happy way..
All the smiling happy people all over the world.. it's great. It must touch something very basic because my kids love it too, laughing and smiling and dancing to music, kind of universal : )
Hi Bubblegum
Thanks for the post - where do you find these great clips?! i have seen that one before but it is great to see it again and yes the children do love it too. Have you seen the one with the musical steps???

Hi Claire-Louise
A belated Happy Birthday to you for Wednesday :D I hope you had a lovely day. Did you do anything special? Sorry, I hadn't read the post earlier.
Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
Take care
Alison

Hi Alison
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a little tea party in the afternoon once my son returned from school and some friends came round. The children had helped me make my birthday cake the day before which was fun. I can't eat dairy, soya or wheat so a special cake and party food is required.
My mum and dad have come to stay this weekend so I am able to go out this evening as a way of celebrating my birthday so I am off to a day of the dead ball thing with some friends. it involves fancy dress and people really go to town on this kind of event so I have had to make a bit of an effort without spending a fortune but I am quite pleased with my costume so far. i just hope it is warm this evening and NOT raining. Fingers crossed.
Thanks and I will let you know how it goes tomorrow.
Cheers C-L

Hi Claire Louise, I think we have had this up before, but it is always good to see it again, I think it is fantastic! If anyone wants to write similar for One Space, please feel free and we will get it onto the site!
I think peple are sometimes too wary of being hugged by strangers but a SMILE can achieve the same results. Here in Sheffield we are a friendly bunch who chat to strangers on the bus, sitting on a bench in fact anywhere. I find that if you smile at people you usually get one back (some people think you are a raving loony and smile at you anyway). When I visit London which can be a very unfriendly place, I smile like a demented person in the street, ont he tube, the train, whilst eating or drinking. I refuse to let miserable people alter my sunny disposition. Anyone up for a free smile campaign?
Can someone tell me how to get the smilies on the right hand side onto a message please?
Just clicking on them should insert them where the cursor is... I expect they probably have something to do with Java though so maybe that's disabled in your browser, in which case google enable java in and then type what ever brouser you happen to be using.. 'enable java internet explorer' for example or what ever..
or maybe the 'Disable smilies' cheque box is ticked? ....it's below where you type in a message.
did that help?
Thanks bubblegum, that was really helpful. I know that Jean is not a great fan of computers, so I hope that she followed it ok and now has smilies! :D
Hi Bubblegum
That has helped me as I have not got into using them either as I wasn't sure how. :D
Not sure if that has worked though, lets see once I press submit???!!!
C-L
Oh yes it did work - very clever and thank you
C-L
There is a button below the editing input window thing where you type in your post and it's called 'preview' and it happily does just that chaps :)
That way when you are happy it all looks nice and presentable you can then click on 'Submit'
P.S. I can cook too.
P.S. I can cook too.
**gasp** ;)
Bubblegum
That is the proper way to do it, preview and then submit but I am afraid I am a bit to slap dash for that approach - naughty I know!
C-L
I want to marry Bubblegum
P.S. I can cook too.
Hi Alisonacm
I think you better get in line as I am sure you are not the only one :P
C-L
Yes, please form an orderly que ladies, no pushing at the back there.
Hi Claire-Louise
I'm eagerly waiting for whether Bubblegum can dust, hoover, iron, and wait for it..... CLEAN THE OVEN
Answers on a postcard please Bubblegum
"Claire-Louise"]Hi Alisonacm

Funny you should say that as I don't in fact clean my oven..... and then it blew up, really! I was happily cooking sausage casserole and it went bang and sparks flew everywhere inside, like a firework going off or something. I cautiously opened it and there was actually fire coming out of a hole in one of the filaments, at least that's how I recall it anyway.
I told my landlady and demanded a new one, my landladie's my sister by the way and she said it's because you never clean the bloodie thing Simon, so I have to take the broken filament out and then my brother in law will get a replacement.... that was over a year ago, and I still haven't gotten round to it, now it works but just on one filament and so no grill... and it does smell a bit when I turn it on..
Sorry.
Anyway... look at this picture carefully and then be amazed....]
Totally wierd Bubblegum, :o
Gosh! I think I went cross-eyed trying to work that one out!
Looks like a photographic definition of infinity!
If anyone is interested this story is rather funny.. well the mental image it leaves is anyway :)
MMMMMMm!

Call me an old cynic but I would be worried one of them would pinch my handbag. Isn't that dreadful?
