Here's a thing, I've gone from a 39 inch wast, I say 39, and I'm getting that number from the fact that my 38 inch trousers were rather uncomfortably tight and my belly hung over them a bit.. anyway.. I've gone from that to being able to fit back, very comfortably I might add, into my old 32 inch trousers from four years ago that I could fit into before I gave up smoking and took up drinking wine.. : )

I've done this over the last two months by not eating bread and cycling for, on average, two hours a day five times a week.

So I guess I'm too late for the TV program then : )

shame. ^^

I might also add that I start the day with a large bowl of porridge sweetened with a spoon of honey and a handful or raisins, I generally have a large fruit salad topped with yoghurt for lunch and then cook something nice and health for evening meal, if I'm hungry between meals I eat some fruit, an apple or a banana or something, I generally eat what I want within the confines of fresh fruit and vegetables till I'm full. I feel so much better.

Just felt the need to share that with everyone as I feel very good about myself right now : )

Oh - wow Bubblegum,
that's amazing!

I thought I had lost loads, but you have done so incredibly well.

I've come down from 36" to 32" waist in 5 weeks. If I need to snack, I make sure I have really nice fruit available. I'd like to cycle more, but by time I get back from work it's kids phone call time, and then dinner, then iron a shirt and it gets too late.

My cooking not so good though...

You are right to feel good, you are amazing!

oh well done you two. Funny what a split does, makes you look at everythying!

Although I have been trying to make myself deal with my weight for ages now, all mine went on when I gave up smoking 10 yrs ago & has crept up ever since. I have lost half a stone since he left 3 wks ago, so nothing major but I want to keep it up now. I think it is simply because I have been eating when hungry & stopping when full (like Paul Mckenna says) & not comfort eating anymore. You would think that the comfort eating would have got worst, but I think the devastation was so awful that to start with I couldn't eat!

I now need to keep it up & start watching what I eat, only eat when hungry & stop when full & then maybe I be a nice slim babe soon & get a hunky new man

Has anyone on here lost weight because of their split & then kept it off? apart from bubblegum of course.

Mine hasn't been because of my split with my wife, that happened four and a half years ago : ) long time now, I was thinner then than I am now, most probably due to 'STRESS' !! :) it was after that I put on about four stone and not through comfort eating like you mentioned, I gave up smoking and along with that took up wine drinking : ) and when you are tied to two small children and living on your own you cant really pop out and do some serious exercise : )

Yes it would interesting to hear about peoples' experiences :)

You have all done well with your various losses and Bubblegum, that sounds like such a healthy regime. I did a no-carbs diet a couple of years ago and lost 3 stone but that also meant no fruit! ....with unfortunate bathroom consequences

Paulasgems you're right: eat when you're hungry and stop when you're not. That is the "secret" that thin people know!

I so know that. Are you eating now though?

Is it 6 weeks for me? I forgot to have dinner again last night. Doesn't seem to be problem yet. I not seem to get hungry. Have thrown away flowers I bought Louise from kitchen table. They not looking their best after 6 weeks. Threw the vase away too.

Hope you are OK.

Paulasgems,

Aaaaaaw Me and the Boy,
that's no fun.

Most cameras deliberately have unflattering distorting lens, it's to get people to buy more expensive cameras.

I would go on, buuuut I'm, eerrr...having my ears plucked.

Oh it would be fab if one of our One Spacers went on telly!

You could advertise us!! You would also lose weight with some great support! How cool would that be?!

I have added a couple of stone over the last two years, so now I am trying to lose it, I was walking half an hour each way to work which worked wonders, but I can't get back into that since i have new car (well its old, but swankier than previous jalopy!)

My method at the moment is using a smaller plate, it is great as I just can't eat a lot now!

Bubblegum, riding your bike 2 hours a day, wow thats fab, where do you go?? Don't you get bored?

Anna,
where did you get that word from?

jalopy

My dad used to say 'the old Jalopy' when referring to some of the cars we used to have.

Quote:
The origin of the word is unknown. It is possible that the non Spanish-speaking New Orleans-based longshoremen, referring to scrapped autos destined for Jalapa, Mexico scrapyards, pronounced the destination on the palettes "jalopies" rather than multiples or possessive of Jalapa.[1]

Origin: 1929

We find a definition in print in 1929: "Jaloppi--A cheap make of automobile; an automobile fit only for junking." The definition has stayed the same, but it took a while for the spelling to stop bouncing around. Among the variants have been jallopy, jaloppy, jollopy, jaloopy, jalupie, julappi, jalapa, and jaloppie

Other early terms for a wreck of a car included heap, tin lizzie (1915), and crate (1927).

And I got that from wiki.

Hi babsek, did you speak to the producers of the programme? What have they said? Are you going to be on???

How exciting!!

Well, I registered my interest and they called me straight away, saying they were very keen... then they took my vital stats... and decided they were not interested!!! My BMI is something around 26... and they said they were looking for people who have a BMI of a minimum of 35, but had found some people whose BMI was 40 or even 50... apparently (they said) it won't make enough of a difference to my life(!)

Hi babsek,
couldn't you binge on eclairs and appeal with new body stats?

peck on the cheek.

babsek that would be QUITE a few eclairs to get up to a BMI of 50 from where you are now!

Oh how unfair of them, obviously you are the wrong size for good ratings. We must keep an eye out for it so we can have a good gossip about it afterwards.

Well done for making that first step, don't let it put you off trying something else.

Thanks for your messages... yes, I could def try a few eclairs to get to 50, and it would be great fun... not sure about the getting it off part though!! I think I am actually just lazy. All these years I have been saying I couldn't really do regular exercise because I smoked... well, I gave up 4 weeks ago, and I'm no more active, and I often tell myself that working and having a 3 year old is enough, but I know I need to take some form of exercise. I take my daughter swimming weekly, but nothing really for me which would get me sweaty and burn off some calories... any ideas? I need to take said 3 year old with me, and the only I keep having mentioned is cycling, which I'm not sure about...

I guess general walking and running around and football in the park together? Your little one will soon be at nursery and you could use that time to do a bit of adult exercise. I have bought a Fit Ball to use at home but have been too lazy even to watch the instructional DVD so I have no room to talk.....

Likewise... I bought a Wii Fit, and decided to have a tv dinner one evening (chips.... yes, I know...) and I needed a tray for my dinner, so I ate off my Wii Fit...

Ha ha, thats really funny!!

I too have WII fit, but I find it such a pain to drag it all out and move the table, shut the dog out of the room so she doesn't jump on me or the board, tell my daughter to stay away, as she has a habit of coming in and just sitting on the sofa watching me, then asks if she can have a go and I end up leaving her to it!!

Far too much like hard work!!

Walking is good though, you just need to find somewhere that you need to go on a regular basis and ignore the car as you leave the house!
