Why is it?

That when you're a woman of big build, shall we say, that men believe that you are very capable, strong and are doing ok without help, yet if you're small and petite it's the complete opposite?

Not sure how true that is...I'm only little but often people don't help me!! However I am lucky enough that if I can't reach something on the top shelf, I am light enough to climb up the shelves!! People stare at me like I'm mad...so maybe its just that alot more people are ignorant nowadays. I always help people whenever I can and just their smile and a simple thank you makes my day!! So I guess its their loss anyway

I always used to envy my friend because she is so tiny that she buys childrens' shoes (and avoids the VAT heh heh)

I agree that people imagine I am some sort of Amazon....BUT there is one driver of the Tesco van (when I somtimes get online deliveries) who hands me each bag with great trepidation. It may contain only a box of six eggs and he always asks "will you be abe to manage that?"

Hi,

Speaking as a bloke I've not noticed this.

The women in my life have been of varying shapes and sizes, though they do generally tend to have had curly hair : )

I like curly hair and necks, with a body attached of course... and oh yeah.. mumble, mumble, a personality too.... I suppose.. (not wanting to appear as shallow as a puddle)

I am of course willing to lower my standards..

as I am a very charitable fellow...

:)

When I was a kid and when my parents used to argue, or when my mum kind of lost it with my dad at least, she used to call him a male chauvinistic pig and say he thought he was gods gift to women. She used to do stuff like tell us... go tell the chauvinistic pig dinners ready, or, ask god's gift to women where the car keys are, stuff like that..

Dunno why I just wrote that... it seemed to make sense when I though about it, maybe it's the three quarters of a bottle of wine I have drunk.

Sorry.
Bubblegum.

I find I go over how my dad was with my mum. DV is awful to grow up with. My dad would say such horrid things. Sometimes I feel guilty as I was 'daddy's girl' - although I had to be as I could get him into a good mood.

I loved my dad, but hated what he did to my mum.

I don't think these things ever leave us.

Is this the last bottle then? I didn't open mine. Think I'll go to bed to watch Jonathan Ross.

I never thought about it at the time, don't think, I'm sure it had some sort of effect on me but I didn't notice, not at the time. I was always on my dad's side, I never got on with my mum, though I do now, sort of, she's OK : )

God knows why I just woke up at four in the bleedin morning !!?

My son is gorgeous.
It is my birthday tomorrow, (21 again)
Earlier this evening, he tempts me with presents that he has for me, (paid for by me). He gives me clues, and says I should open one because it will disappear by morning!!! I go through the gesting of what it could be, (knowing it is chocolate). I ask if he could hide it in the kitchen before he goes to bed. No, he says, cos, you will find it when you make a tea. Begs me to let him open it. I give in, and open the chocolate, which he promptly tells me we must share because he hasn't chosen the one with nuts because that wouldn't be fair as he doesn't like them!!!!!
I just love him for being him xxxxxx

Thankyou Mousie, Sparkling, Pansy
That really made my day. My son bought me a keyring with my name on it, Take A Break mag, and chocolate (which he finished off this morn) He made me a beautiful banner.
I have a friend popping over later, (I hadn't told her bout birthday, but my son did). I was hoping it would be good weather so we could sit in garden, (unscrew again), but looks bit cloudy at the mo. Got reading homework to do with 7 year old, but then the day is our own.
My little darling casually reminded me that I left school over 28 years ago. Talk about knowing how to depress someone
Hope all of you have a great day.
Take care and thankyou again

Hi Louise
Thankyou for the birthday message, :) Son (7) has been moaning for few hours, over nothing really, think he is tired. That will teach him to get up so early,  . Don't know why I'm laughing as I'm the only one here to listen to it. Boy does that drain on you. I have asked him to tidy some of his stuff away, and his reply was 'stop bossing me around'. My reply, 'I'm your mother, and it is my job to boss you around'.
When my friend pops in, it will be different story with him.
Shouldn't complain really, normally he is good. Will go and make cuppa, take deep breaths and count to 10. (Why do people say that, it never works)!!!
I did see Sadsy's post about the freecycle, thankyou.
Take care
Alison

Just wanted to wish you a happy belated birthday to you alisoncam!

I love hearing about your boy! I have just put up 2 articles about blogging in the Info Library/Looking after You, wondered if you might be interested, as I think you would definitely have a knack for it. Have a look: The world of blogging!

You are a valued member of our One Space community and I for one really enjoy your company. :D

Hi Anna
Have checked out the blogging site. It sounds really good, but I couldn't do it. I wouldn't want my son's father finding out when my son first sneezed let alone anything else!!!!!!

Hi alisoncam

Did you read both the articles? It mentions that it could be a good idea is to post under a pseudonym, don't post pictures of you or your children if you don't wish the world to see them, you can make it as anonymous as you wish!
