Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP)- London

For over 20 years, Domestic Violence Intervention Project have been helping to make women and children safer. With services across London, they work to stop domestic violence and to reduce the harm it causes to women, children and families. They run services for men who have been violent to their partner, and for women who have suffered domestic violence. They support parents and children affected by domestic violence. We are a charity based in Deptford, South East London providing low-cost therapy to individuals and families, walk-in counselling without appointment to those in crisis, as well as support groups, parenting workshops, psycho-educational programmes and activities to improve mental health wellbeing. Finsbury & Clerkenwell Volunteers - South Islington

The Finsbury & Clerkenwell Volunteers help isolated older people in South Islington. The volunteers do befriending visits, run a twice weekly lunch club, telephone counselling, assisted shopping, outings and help with practical tasks. The work is rewarding and can provide valuable experience for those wanting to pursue opportunities in care or community work. Volunteers are required to give an hour or two per week to help with our activities. Good listening skills, reliability and an empathetic attitude are really all that is required.
