Pain in my side is, well, a pain cool  A pulled muscle.

Passed the online OU thing.  Gosh.

Joint party for my son and daughter at Scouts.  They had a great evening.  Off to bed with a hot water bottle for my side.

I'd like to get up and feel better tomorrow.

I do hope everyone is ok.

Good morning all. Bowling today for us, wish I could say I was enthusiastic, but even though I'm feeling much much better, it still takes it out of me, doing even a little bit. Yesterday I managed to strip and re-make one bed, then I defrosted neighbour's fridge. Came home and promply fell onto the settee. I had promised C some games, so we had a game of boggle, hours later, tennis on the WII, and then in the evening, Catchphrase. Nothing has been done in the flat, so that is a definate for tomorrow (it's getting me down now).

How's everyone? Sparkling, hope you can manage a day doing nothing. Take it easy and rest! Bubblegum, lovely to see you here. Are you working now? I was wondering if you're doing a TA position (sounds a bit rude doesn't it, hehe). Louise, how did last night go? Was it the eggheads?lol. Mich, shall read your update in a moment, hope all good with you. lrh, Bella, Hopeful, how are things with you?

Wonder if Anna is sipping cocktails by the pool smiley

It is lovely to see you Bubblegum - and glad you had a good Christmas.

Sparkling I am not surprised you have pulled a muscle with all that coughing, poor you/. WELL DONE on passing your Open University module though smiley

Hope the bowling goes Ok, Hazeleyes. I can't believe it is Friday already, and the weekend again,

The quiz last night turned out to be a book quiz organised by supporters of the local library, I really enjoyed it. There were ten teams and we came third! I met a couple of nice women there and they suggested that I could join their book group as that meets monthly at the library so I think I will. I have also started looking around for some sort of singing group to join as I love singing and now son has got so independent, I can do something more ambitious. I have found one about an hour away from here but they only have a few meetings left before their break so I may wait till September but in the meantime they are doing a "Turn up and sing" for part of The Messiah in March so I might give that a try. Will have to get the music first and have a look tra la la.

Bella, yes Bubblegum's kids did his avatar but what he hasn't told you is they didn't put any trousers on him so he had to edit it smiley

Hi all,

just had results for the dreaded essay (the one that took me till four in the morning and I said I was happy to just scrape through): 69! I had to check three times to make sure it was really my result. Other essay was 85 (what is going on???) so I am feeling very happy now! Only the rewrite of the other one and that's it for this year!!!! Oh, and wait for result of presentation, but I feel confident about that one.

Glad to hear everyone's doing fine! :-)

Do we get to come and see you when you get your part Louise?

Well done Hopeful.

That sounds brilliant Louise.  When I was in sixth form, we did part of the Messiah for a concert, and to me it sounded fantastic - and I still remember the words.

Hope the bowling was good hazeleyes.

A friend called today.  Told her I was feeling so washed out still - and very tearful about silly things really.  All of a sudden I feel its going to take me a while to get over this cold, and possibly the dramas too...

I do hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi everyone - hope those feeling not so good are starting to recover - sparklinglime i think i would try some echinacea - you are supposed to take it when you are well to keep your immune system boosted but it might be worth giving it a try. I think illness takes its toll and leads to us feeling down and tearful - some of it will be frustration as well as feeling under the weather - wishing you a speedy recovery.

Louise you sound like you are on a mission - maybe during the next party you will sing to us!

Great news about your essay Hopeful - well done

Hazeleyes hope bowling was manageable

Hello to everyone else too!

LRH there will still be down times and dificult days, but in general I know you are beginning to feel considerably better and I am pleased to hear that. It was a good idea to go and mix with nice people!

Sparkling, I would like to say that I bet it did you good to be able to tell your friend how rotten you are feeling,. Don't forget that some of these illnesses can leave us feeling really low, even after the physical bits clear up. I know a few people this winter where bugs and colds have just gone on and on and on......must be to do with the weather. The good news from your point of view is that March (to which you always look forward) is nearly with us and there is more daylight and spring is in the air. Hope the weekend improves things for you.

Hopeful., WOW you must be thrilled with your excellent results. And only one more major essay to do, bet that feels good to know. Have you just got one more year to do after this one? How is the placement going with the District Nurses?

Hi Hazleyes how are you? Hope you can get one or two things sorted in the flat over the the weekend, as that will make you feel easier in your mind. You are particularly prone to illnesses at the moment, in my opinion, as you are mixing with the children a lot more at school. I remember talking to a GP once who told me that the first year of being a GP, doctors were ill quite often as they caught things, but then their immune system was built up. What do you think about a vitamin pill every day?

I have some work to do for the counselling place today, I do their stats and they want me to collate the 2011 months into an annual total so it is calculator ahoy. Son has finished decluttering his room, there are only my underbed drawers and bedside cabinet to go and I know that will be more in line for the dustman smiley When my mum was cross with my sister and me for having an untidy bedroom she used to say "Get that bedroomed tidied or I will be inviting the dustman upstairs!" meaning she would throw away all our stuff  but we used to say "Yoooooooo fancy the dustman, mer mer mer MER mer cheeky"

Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone.

Sparkling, I'm sorry I forgot to congratulate you on passing the OU. Sorry. xx Well done you. Hope you're feeling better today.

Louise, wow, we have a singer amongst us. That will be great if you join that class, bit far though isn't it. Perhaps we'll see you on X Factor in the near future wink So........ Did the dustman ever visit your bedroom hehe. I've also been thinking along the same lines as you, regarding my immune system. It's weird that I don't normally pick anything up, even when C brings a cold home or a bug etc.

Hopeful congratulations on passing your exams. That must be a huge relief. Well done.

lrh, you're doing brilliantly, and it does sound as if you're getting stronger by the day. Keep it up girl smiley

Bowling was great for the boys. I wasn't able to book for two adults and two children though, so it was just the kids. I actually don't think I'd have been able to pick the ball up anyway!!! Once they'd finished bowling and had something to eat, we went into the arcade part, and all had some games, which we all loved. It felt absolutely great that finally I was able to treat C to something like this. Have to say though, it has left me rather short until payday, but well worth it. Friend stayed for a drink etc and left around 9ish, so it really was a great day, especially for C. My sister is coming tomorrow to have C for me when I go for the pre-assessment on Monday. Not back to school until Tuesday, yipeee. Have just done some shopping, so hopefully won't have to do too much in the week. Lots of washing to catch up with, but I'm slowly getting there. Lots of cleaning to do too, as I haven't been able to do anything, and it is really getting me down, but I'll take it slowly today, and get it all done.

Hope you all have a good day. Looks like it's going to pour down here, but at least I don't have to go out anymore today. C is desperate for a haircut, but he wants to grow it long!! Should have a trim at least, but I think the bit at the back (where he pulled it out) would look more noticeable, so not quite sure what to do there. Oh well.......

Only passed the online bit.

The person who's agreed to do the observing is under so much pressure at work, that I've emailed her to say I'm dropping it...  What with work, and now probably regular trips to the surgery (my Mother's fault again...  Hereditary thing) I feel the need to drop something.  OU is the thing to go.

I can hardly lift my head of the pillow in the mornings, and feel so washed out still.

One thing about the online thing was a comment made by one of the others - how he was dreading going back to the isolated learning after working for three weeks in happy groups!  That made me cry, as it made me realise I'm not alone.

I'm not in the least bit academic.  I'm losing confidence in myself with scouting, which has given me so much.  Do I keep doing a course that makes me feel bad (shut a door on a dream already)?  Or keep doing something that I enjoy for now, and where I can move on to the adult side of things as new leaders come forward...

Can't believe I seem to be doing all this thinking.  Lack of sleep due to pain in side too, I think. I've bought some pharmaton, so hope that does the trick.  Have been on the echinacea...

I'm so glad you enjoyed the bowling hazeleyes.  And I'm glad your sister is coming.  I have been wondering.

I've just found the energy to put some towels in the washer.  Although I have been asking the boys for a couple of days to bring it down!  Washing machine repair man coming on Wednesday, as it really is rattling and banging.  However much it rattles and bangs though, I have to get some washing done.

Yes you do, sparkling, although I think the youngsters in  your house could do with a more "intimate" relationship with that washer.....is good experience for them to be doing the laundry instead of leaving it to you..

Sooooo.......did you get a better sleep? I hope so. As for the OU/Scouty dilemma, I think you should do what makes you happiest NOW., I am not saying forget about the future but you need not to be doing something that makes you feel bad.

Hereditary thing,......is that "women's problems"? You are having to go to the GP a lot at the moment? ugh it is a pain dragging backwards and forwards. How is the pain in your side? easier I hope. Those muscles in between your ribs hurt SO MUCH when you pull them, I really sympathise.

Hope today is a brighter day smiley

Hazeleyes, glad you have your sister on board for Monday and of course, good luck for the appointment. A bit of Widow Twankey today (the laundry!) for you, I did mine yesterday but no housework, though son had hoovered. Am just chivvying him to get up now as he is at work and has gone back to sleep after the alarm.....

Hi everyone. Just a quickie in here really, as I'm in bed, absolutely shattered. Late night last night, and then once in bed, I just couldn't sleep, so probably managed about an hour in total. C woke at 6 with a sore throat!!!! Have dosed him with calpol all day, so hoping he'll be okay for tomorrow. This is the downfall of having a job, and no one to have him for me, without prior arrangement, even then it is still difficult. Pre assessment went okay, and thankfully I wasn't there too long. Normal proceedure, blood tests, swabs, etc etc.

Sparkling, don't know what to suggest with the OU and scout stuff, only, do it whatever will make YOU happy. Don't feel guilty if you give up on it, as you're so busy already, and now with the job, there might be no time really, and then you might run yourself ragged. As for your health, that's another issue isn't it? Go and get checked out ASAP to put your mind at ease. Am thinking of you.

Hello louise, how are you doing today? A day off for you tomorrow. What are you up too? Hope it's something nice.

lrh, hope things are okay for you.

Hopeful, Bella, elle, trying hard and everyone else, hope you're all okay.

Am at work tomorrow until 12, so not too bad. Hope it's an easy morning!

Nurse is sorting me out Hazeleyeys...  She's trying to persuade me to see the GP... All in good time.  But yes, I don't want pressure.  I want to enjoy my late **ahem** 40s laugh  I'd like to take the passing of the online thing as a high - which the tutor is trying to use to keep me going..!

Work today was a blast.  A laugh from morning until leaving.  I'd been building stupid things up in my head there too, and had convinced myself there was no job there for me by today.  "New" girl gave me a good talking too.

I'm tearful at the mo, and its all down to this cold.

I really do hope you sleep tonight.  I hope C is ok in the morning too.   Glad the preassessment went ok though.  I have been thinking of you so much today - just incase your ears were burning.

I hope you're able to get straight home tomorrow and put your feet up for a while.

I hope everyone is ok.

Sparkling, of course there is a job there for you. Pull yourself together woman hehe. You are very much loved and appreciated by the 'boss'. Sorry to hear that you're still under the weather.

I dosed C at lunchtime with calpol, and I'll give him some more before bed. Walking home at 12, I started sneezing, so just hoping I don't come down with anything else. Kids and their rotten germs lol. School was good, I was out of the classroom all morning, helping some of the children with their test papers. I was away when they took this particular one, and the results weren't good, so me and the other TA had to 'sort of' help some of them. It's extremely hard when they just don't understand what the story is about even, let alone the questions! Anyhow, another early night for us two here. Just had dinner, so can now relax once dishes are done. I've also prepared a shepherds pie for tomorrow or Thursday (I'm so good) angel

Hope everyone else is okay. Did you have a nice day off Louise. Tell us any goss on your return. Welcome back for tomorrow Anna. Hope you had a wonderful holiday.

How are you LRH? I liked your idea on the other thread of writing a letter then burning it.smiley

Hi Hazeleyes, well done on surviving your assessment and first day back at work. AND you have made an advance shepherd's pie angel (mince, though........devil we have bolognese tonight)

I had a good day off, two counselling clients in the afternoon. Had a text during the morning from son, saying "What are we doing for pancake day?" and I replied saying "not making pancakes" cheeky When he came home he said well I have to say when I have children I will always make them pancackes. I said oooh that's interesting that you are a child. So you won't be going on any more dates or going to any clubs or letting a single drop of alcohol sully your lips? We both started laughing.

Hope everyone will have a good day today.

Hi all, I am back from the Bahamas!! I wish! Just had a few days at home. The builders had to come round and fix cracked ceiling and walls, it meant I was stuck indoors, but did mean I cleaned my cooker and fridge thoroughly. Wanted to clean the whole house, but with plaster and footprints coming in and out of the house for 2 days, it seemed pointless. Oh well, now I have a crack free house!

Hopeful brilliant news about your results, you too sparklinglime!

Hello everyone.

HAPPY 18th to S Sparkling. Not a little girl anymore, but very much a young lady! I hope she has a lovely day.

Welcome back Anna. Awwww, sorry about the Bahamas, maybe next year smiley Better to get the cracks fixed eh, than a holiday of a lifetime!

Louise, yes it's mince again, but am trying to disguise it with veg and potatoes hehe.

Had a good morning at school, doing same as yesterday, which is extremely hard, but at least I think all children have been covered now, so all completed the test. It was lashing down at lunchtime, so instead of hitting the shops for a bit of food, I just headed home, put some washing on, and sat. Not sure why I'm feeling so washed out lately, the tiredness is draining me if that makes sense. C's great, and has settled back to school. I think he is getting anxious about me having the op as last night he wanted to know how they put me to sleep. He's also slept in my bed for two nights running, so little signs of anxiety creeping in, but he knows to ask me anything, and I'll try and explain for him to understand. Apart from that, all is good.

Hope everyone else is doing okay, and looking forward to the warmer day that is promised for tomorrow.

LRH I absolutely love that and have saved it immediately! You're right, it IS all about making a new relationship with ourselves. The poem feels very empowering.

Hazeleyes, you will be tired after the virus you have had (which came hot on the heels of the last one!) DId you have a think about the vitamin pills? I liked your decription, it is almost as if the tiredness ITSELF is making you tired, I know exactly what you mean. It will get better but you will need some time, after all once you recover from this virus you then have the op and the aftermath. Keep your eyes mentally fixed on the Easter hols by which time it should all be behind you. Phew. Will you get your shopping sorted today? The forecast is better.

Happy birthday to sparkling's daughter!

Well you would all laugh at my bedroom, I am trying to decide what colour to paint it so I got some of those little sample bottles and painted some bits on the walls. Got such a shock when I woke this morning, as my eyes opened I thought what are those new pictures on the walls? haha. At the moment I am liking a purple-ish clover colour for three walls, with a pale lilac on one wall, behind the bed headboard (would have to get new curtains in due course though)

Hope everyone will have a good day.smiley

Daughter had a good birthday, thank you.  We went out for tea, which was very nice.

I have bought a tin of lilac paint to do mine and daughter's bedroom.  I do like that colour.

I'm finally starting to feel better, although I did have a snooze in the chair before we went out for tea.  So tired.still, but less so.

I hope you're pleased with the work done Anna.

I'm not surprised C is feeling anxious, hazeleyes.  I'm thinking about you a lot, and wish I could somehow help.  As Louise says, think if Easter... Perhaps C can focus on that too, as it isn't long until they're here.

It was really rough here yesterday, and I took the 16 and 13 year old to the orthodentist yesterday.  I nearly got blown over and had a panic attack!  I'm glad it's calm today.

Hi all. Yes Louise, am thinking of the vitamins, am actually thinking of anything to make me feel less tired hehe. Trying to focus on the Easter hols, and really praying that this time round, we'll be able to enjoy ALL of it, and not just a few days.

Your colours for the bedroom sound nice and relaxing Louise. Yours too Sparkling. When are you both getting down to the painting? Both mine and C's need doing, but not thinking along these lines until the Summer hols (at least).

lrh, Mich, hope you're ok, as well as Bella, Hopeful, elle (where are you?) Anna (if you pop in), Bubblegum (if you're reading this section), trying hard, and anyone else now using the chat room.

And possibly after the heating that's now going to be done in June - if I agree.  I need to find out who the contractors are first of all (I work for heating firm, so in theory, we know if they're good or not so good)...

Just not sure I can face it.

Yes, it will be full steam ahead now to the exams, sparkling lime. I can't believe my son finishes college in June! He has an interview at Asda next week, he has applied for a security job there. It is 30 hours a week, which seems a bit much on top of college, but anyway maybe they will think he is suitable for something else for less hours, interviews are good experience in themselves.

You will feel a lot more like painting as the weather improves (she said, hopefully). I am off to buy my paint at the weekend. Am hoping to get away without doing the ceiling.

Had good day yesterday at school, as did C. Anniversaries coming up next week, Dad on 28th (25 years) and Mum on the 1st March (7 years). Shall get some helium balloons for C to release.

How's everyone else today? The sun is shining, but have been told it's chilly out there! Oh well, back to doing some (cleaning) or something anyway. Have a good day everyone.

Hello one and all!

I was on the board this morning, but saw I was still the last one in Chat so I did not post again. I always seem to have so much to say that I will send you all cross-eyed!

How was rugby, sparkling? Hope you were restrained and sedate ? haha. That cough is taking some shifting, poor you.

Hazeleyes, well you MEANT to do the jobs.....heh heh.I can't believe how quickly time goes, mind you I was sitting down with a cuppa this afternoon and fell asleep! Yes it is your annniversaries coming up. It is a lovely idea that you do the balloons with C.

So we were both laundry girls today?  I have got all mine out the way as getting ready for decorating, son and friend moving a load of gear tomorrow and two old cupboards going to the tip plus a ghastly wicker chair that is falling to bits, why DO we keep these things? All my clothes are in a huge stack on eldest's bed in the other room, but then I thought hang on, I can't wear the same clothes for four days so I will have to get some out again smiley whoops.

Hope everyone is OK tonight, time for me to stick my nose in the fridge and see if there is some ginger ale left and goggle at the telly for a while.

Hi everyone. I`m new to this site and have just spent a lovely time with coffee & a buscuit reading your lovely posts. LRH yours was the first i read and i thought the poem ` Love after Love`  is so true. I have a poem i would like to share with all you wonderful mums out there:-

The Gift of a Mother
by Nate Phillips
Of all the gifts life may bestow
There's one which sets the rest below
The wombs from which life emanates
Whose rearing deeds shall not abate
Some men aspire for fortunes
Many vie with one another
But woe to those who live and die despising their own mothers
No Prophet, Queen, nor Statesman could espouse a nobler creed
Despite the goals one might attain, a mother bears the seed
The bastion of her family, the center of a nation
O Mother, you're an altruist, benevolent and patient
Your moistened finger raised, removing smudges from my face
Such acts of love kept me aloof from living in disgrace
When others choose to compliment my sister or my brother
I hope they will give pause and give some credit to our mother

My youngest daughter K whose 8 has just come in the kitchen & rested her head on my knee and said `I luv u mummy`. Complete bliss....... this is what i love about being a mum, best job in the world. Have a fab Sunday everyone & hope to chat soon. xx

Good morning all. Oooh Louise, you're so busy (puts me to shame). Will your son help you to paint, or.....  Are you able to get away with not doing the ceiling? That's one job I absolutely loathe, especially now in the flat, as we don't have smooth ceilings, they are all swirly!! Lord knows why we keep so much junk, maybe it's a woman thing hehe. The wall cupboard in my room is chockablock with rubbish, and I do keep intending to get rid, but somehow, I just manage to move it from place to place, tut!

Trying hard, lovely to see you. Sorry to hear you've all had the bug, and your son too with the rotten cough. It does indeed get you down doesn't it?

Sparkling, how was the rugby? Not interested in this sport at all, but I know you're a keen fan, and would have been glued to it!

Have been checking out this weeks lessons, obtuse, acute triangles, and all about the angles. Heaven help the children, that's all I can say hehe. Have decided (actually it's me just being lazy), that I shall do ALL the housework next weekend. That way, it's all clean for my sister plus I won't have to worry about doing anything when I'm supposed to be resting after the op. Hopefully, I'll also be able to make some dinners to freeze too. My sister won't be here for long, a couple of days at the most. Still trying to sort something out for C, with regard to school etc, picking him up and so on. It'll get sorted, just me not wanting to think about it really I guess. Best get out of my pit, and start doing the ironing. C is already doing homework, so I should show willing also.......

Hope everyone is okay, and all have a lovely Sunday.
