I hope you're ok hazeleyes. Not an easy time for you all this planning. The extravagance of a taxi maybe? Mind you, I can only imagine that even that will be difficult. Thinking of you very much.
Hi manc-lass, and trying hard.
I'm listening to mon fm (anglesey radio as two of our Scouts are the presenters - mind you, only one is talking... Youngest refused as he is so very terrified...
Need to go and see MiL and FiL later. FiL has been having awful nose bleeds and was in hospital on Friday where a vessel was cauterized. Very weak. So awful. Talking with MiL meant that my youngest two missed their haircut (not that the chap minded).
Very difficult there now.
Hi all. Sparkling I remember my Mum having nose bleeds (on two occassions) and having to be cauterized. I do hope your fil is okay.
Hello Ali Jay, you can see who is online just by scrolling down on posts, it then tells you who is on. (hope that makes sense). If we're on, we'll always answer.
Just spoke to sister, bit peed off to be honest. Trying so hard to organise something for C regarding drop off at school etc. I offered to pay her son to drop and pick up C, but she has just said, 'Aww, I don't think so'. Ended by saying, 'Don't worry about it'. For godsake, cannot even rely on family!!!! She thinks I'll be okay the next day (after surgery), I'll be stitched, swollen and in pain by the way, and she's just said she'll go to her daughters on the Tuesday to stay with her for a few days. I'm gutted. I have to admit I did say that I'll have to find someone then who could help me out! Oh well, think again eh!
I'm having a glass of wine as I'm cross now, and feeling so annoyed I think.
Grrr Hazeleyes, you know full well your recovery pattern from previous ops.Not surprised you are feeling so fed up!!
Hi Mancs lass thanks for the poem and lovely to see you here, we are always popping into this bit for a natter
Hello AliJay yes there is a panel on the left hand side of the page that says who is online but you can't do private chat, only on the boards.Sometimes someone will start a thread about a particular topic and they will keep posting on there and a few people who have common experiences or a special interest will also join them. Anna, Sally or I will always pop on the thread as well.
Trying hard we have missed you! Sorry to hear about the dreaded bug, there are some real nasties going round at the moment. Hope everyone is back at school now? How is your course going?
Sparkling that is so sweet about the Scouts. The news on FiL sounds so awful, I am sorry to hear about that, I know he is very frail, poor chap.
LRH how are you today? Hopeful anf Bella, hope your weekends are going well.
Louise, I can no longer get to see who is on line by reading down the left hand side. I used too, which was great, but for some reason it has now gone??
Hazeleyes, that is awful. I'm gutted for you, I really am!
I've just come home from my in-laws. FiL is so frail, and had a fall during the night. He's had another nose bleed too. I've been there for a few hours, and it was a good visit. Sorted out a computer problem (yes, a miracle, I know), and got into site so MiL could see a gallery of photos that her grand-daughter had taken for her 13th birthday (days between her and my youngest).
Have spoken to the children about Grandad's health, as it will be a shock to them if we get there on Friday to see him.
Oh maybe it is just me in Admin role that can see who is online? I know that every time a new feature is put on the site, some others may be affected. I guess that the web people have to prioritise, for example when we wanted to get the emoticons back, we felt that was very important whereas other things are less so.
Sparkling, that is a good idea to speak to the children about it. The sudden decline can be a real shock. When my dad had his final illness he did not look very different but his behaviour was very out of character, with swearing etc, and he did not recognise the boys, which was very hard for them.
What is everyone up to today? All I have left in my bedroom is a bed! Son has helped with painting in the past, but was most enthusiastic about his own bedroom and not very bothered about mine. He is on the tip run now with my friend, who will return to help me instead.
hi louise - oh yeah i can see who is online now....thanks :-)
Anna asked Sam to adjust the setttings (Sam is One Space's IT guy)
How is everyone today? My house smells of PAINT!
But I'm sure it looks lovely...
Can smell that paint all the way here (sniff). Don't forget to cut your onion up Louise, and leave it in the room to take away the smell. So, is the colour lilac?
Sorry to hear your fil is poorly Sparkling. Hope he isn't too uncomfortable.
That must have been awful for the boys Louise. I remember my Mum turned a bit funny with me, which cut me up so much. The oxygen wasn't getting to her brain, and she too used to swear at me sometimes (she never swore). Of course I knew it wasn't 'her', but it does affect you doesn't it?
I can also see who is online now Ali Jay. Thankyou Sam
Had good day at work, though I'm shattered. I seemed to be up and down until midnight, as I kept hearing all sorts of noises, quite spooky really. Two kids ran off from me today, and even though I shouted to get them back, they just ignored me. Just my luck the SENCO saw, and she too yelled for them, ignored her, and shot off. Eventually another TA brought them back, C's TA as it happened, and the SENCO kept them both in as a punishment. C was telling me he was embarrassed as they boys were caught and taken to his class, his teacher asked who was supposed to be supervising them, they said A and all the kids turned to look at C. Whoops, sorry C, hehe.
Have finally given in and said C can have a hamster. Yukky things. Rang the local petshop and was shocked to hear him say the council are aiming to close the petshops down, and he doesn't have any pets!!! Apparantely they are taking the council to court in March. Can anyone believe this?? C wasn't a happy bunny. Got to look elsewhere now, although secretly I was relieved!
Hope everyone is okay. Have a good day tomorrow.
We seem to have more luck with gerbils at the moment, having lost another hamster who fell from the top of the cage! We've sent for some hamock things that you hang from the top of the cage, to see if these will act as a safety net!
The first hamster lived for two years and three months (which is good going), so if he survived, I'm surprised that others haven't...
Daughter has a pretty decent sized gerbilarium, and they are brilliant to watch as they tunnel into the sawdust. She and the 16 year old love them...
Thing is hazeleyes, its a good excuse not to have one...
Blooming little flies are back and I've been bitten as they flew into the kitchen when we let the dog out.
Hi all
Aggh hazeleyes, hamster?? Really? Are you sure? Where will it live? When my daughter was 7, we bought one and put him in her bedroom, but he made to much noise scratching and running in the night that it brought her to tears. Then we moved it to the front room, but it was a bit smelly (and another thing to add to the things to clean), I did move it to the hallway for a short period, but it was a bit breezy there and I felt a bit mean. So carefully consider where it is going to go. Also he skidaddled everywhere and she wanted to cuddle him. Probably a guinea pig would have been better! They just sit and squeak!
The only thing I liked about the hamster, was my daughter named him Bernard, which I thought was sweet, but the 2 years of its life, was a real drag and I will never do that again!!
sparklinglime sorry to read about your FiL. Hallo to everyone else and I want to add a poem for all our single dads out there, because being a mum is fab, but so is being a dad:
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,
He called it ... Dad

hi Anna,
what a great poem :-)
Hello one and all
Nice to see a dad poem Anna
Oh hamsters..... The other day one of my friends was telling me that when she was a teen, her mum had made her keep hers in her bedroom and it made loads of noise at night so she put the cage in her wardrobe at night. Some weeks later she was going to a party and went to put on her one and only dress and you guessed it, chewed to tatters. I remember one chewing holes in Mum's curtains when we kept one on our sideboard when I was little. haha sparkling, a hamster hammock!
Yes my bedroom now has three lilac walls and one a sort of heather colour. The room is still is a tip as I am transferring things from one place to another and I have bought some "bendy hangers", you know if you have a longer dress with straps, a normal hanger would just have the straps on its arms and be really long, well I am hoping to bend the hangers so they fit in the dress bodice and the dress is not trailing on the wardrobe floor.
What is everyone up to today? I am off on my travels shortly, my back and knees ache from all the hoiking about.
Hi Louise your room is going to feel so lovely. Do you have a new duvet cover washed and ready for when the room is complete?
....yes Anna, I have got a dark purple one with some sequins on it!!!!! When it is finally done I will take a pic for the Familt Quilt but will have to do the outstanding things next month costwise so the room will stay 80% finished till then.
How has everyone's days been?
ooooo sparkly. I do like sparkly.
I've managed to pull the muscle in my side again. Agony. **Sigh**
Those muscles can take ages to heal, sparkling; intercostal muscles they are called. I speak from painful experience! Hope it did not affect your sleep.
My Mum pulled hers, and I remember the pain she went through well - it was a time my Dad and I had a terrible car crash and she had to haul herself about to deal with things...This rest of this comment has been moved here.
Hi folks, i'm just finding my way around this site and am really enjoying and appreciating the warm welcome and great support you all provide, is there an area on the site where you can see who is online at that particular time so that you can chat to one another or is the only way to talk by posting on these notice boards.
not that i have anything of particular interest to say but sometimes its just lovely to spend a bit of time just chatting to another adult am i'm hoping to make a frew friends along the way
