I do sometimes stop and think! I've been a single parent now for seven and a half years : )

My son will be ten in November!

I wish I could freeze this moment and live it for ever, but they keep growing up and soon they wil be teenagers and probably not want to be seen in public places with me : )

Hi Bubblegum loving the picture and good to see you back on here, you may find your theory could be wrong on them not wanting to be seen with you when their in their teens.

You seem to have a great relationship with them and am sure that though it will be a testing time they will still want to be around you.

Here is a link to the family quilt.

Hey stranger! Great to 'see' you. It is good to know that you have a read of the boards every now and again - just keeping your eye on us eh?!

So hows tricks? What are you up to? Did you find work? How is your sister? How are the children? Are you all still bunking up in your room? How is your computer console after the summer holidays? Did you get a holiday in, or did you do day trips?

Sooo many questions, but it has been a long time SmileWink

I've not found work yet, despite the best efforts of the DWP and Working Links (though they are trying)

I'm just carrying on with life! doing a lot of cycling and wild camping.

Nice to hear from 'Sparklinglime' (HI!) as I was recently in her neck of the woods trying to take a swim at the beach in Aberffraw only to find that it was contaminated with 'blue alge' or something... we ended up at Lyons Rock (between Aberffraw and Rhosneiger) so glad to see that sparkling is still alive and not turned into some sort of zombie or something (as that is what blue alge does apparently) : )

HI! pancakequeen : )

Anna! They still sleep in my room... only my room is now what was once the front room as my old room is now the computer room! They still have their own rooms but still they sleep with me and at present we go to bed watching Red Dwarf (as that is what they are into thanx to my nephews)

Not that I mind as I actualy like Red Dwarf!

Here's a pic of my son coming 8th in the North Wales Junior Mounting Runing Championship... they both came 8th in their respective categouries :)

I don't think it's possible to state how proud I am of what they did!

No it hasn't worked since I upgraded to IOS 5 or 6 or whatever the latest one is!

Street View is great! When I was in Paris a few years ago, I got back to the hotel and realised I had lost my camera. The receptionist said that she would ring the restaurant and ask if they had it. We couldn't remember the name so we went onto street view found the restaurant, gave the receptionist the name, she googled the number and rang them...they didn't have it, so we did it for a couple more places that we had stopped at. Unfortunately it never got found, but it did make me wonder at modern technology!! Wink

Hello chaps!

I'm still about, now working part time in the Coffee Shop of a well known supermarket, thank you working links and Gingerbread for that one, I think the only reason I got the job was because I didn't want it and was there for pretty chilled and relaxed about the whole affair, but now I'm there it's quite fun and I'm a little bit better off moneywise and it's only three days a week so I still get to be with my babies : )

And! Here is a picture of one of my babies, my daughter now eight who asked me a couple of days ago to cut her hair... very short! and so I did and I think it looks amazing!

From hairy scruffy hippy to chic French model, with just some hair clippers!

Now if only I could get her to take a shower more than once in a blue moon.

FABAROONY, glad all is well with you Bubblegum. Your daughter's pic is lovely. Excellent news about the job and joy of joys, out of reach of the Job Advisers, heh heh.

Ther big move to secondary school is in September for your son. How far away will that be and does that mean a bus ride for him?

Posted on: June 19, 2013 - 7:19am

Bubblegum
DoppleMe

No! His big move is not next but the one after.. 2014 (how time flies) It means a bus ride, but there is safe designated bike track from where we live right past the school he will be going too, so I'm going to 'encourage' him to cycle and I will with him :-) In the summer anyway. We've been doing a lot of cycling since they started last year, so it's all within his capabilities, he regularly cycles further.

That's the plan anyway, though probably by then I will be an idiot and an embarrasment to him and he won't want to be seen in public with me :-)

The two main possative factors to having a job are, in this order... 1. No Job Centre! I hate that place, and 2. I get to cycle to and from work (it's 17 odd miles away) three times a week keeping me healthy :-)

Later!

Hi bubbs, that is great to be feeling healthier, have you lost weight too, may I ask? I have been off roading at the weekends, until I had an accident a month ago and have had to keep leg elevated (serious laceration it said on docs note), I love it.

I was thinking about your comment with regards to your daughter not taking showers as regularly as you would wish. My daughter was never a great fan, that is until she got a boyfriend!

Being a bloke and all that, I'm not so sure I'm comforted by the thought that she will start showering when she gets a boyfriend... Why the sudden desire to be clean I would wonder.

Not to worry though as she has already told me she is never getting a boyfriend and is planing to live with me for ever :-)

Also all the cycling... I have lost a bit of weight :-)

She's trying to do Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' in the above picture.

She likes her hair very much, I did my son first and then she wanted the same, he's been asking to have his hair bleached since he was about seven and I said he could when he was eleven, it was the same with ear piercings... and now he's eleven : )

It's not actualy as orange as it looks in this picture, though it is orange...ish, but they are both made up with it : ) I'll do it better next time!

Hi bubblegum good to see you back on One space Smile

Your holiday is that just some time off work or are you going/gone somewhere nice?

My youngest (age 9) has been asking for her ears to be pierced for a couple of years and i have just said she can get them done for her birthday, she then come home last week to say a girl in her class has just had her nose done, instant NO from me.

I think my son is the one more likeley to come home asking for his nose to be pierced... I expect I would say no for a year or two or so before finaly giving in, I would probably say when you are fouteen we can talk about it again, maybe : )

Right now with my son I keep having to talk to him about his desires, or wants, or needs as he sees them, in that it's one thing and he goes on and on, bringing it up when ever, he wants it he needs it, blah, blah... then when he finaly gets it, he's happy for a while before his next want comes along, and I cant remember which book on psychology I read about that sort of stuff in but! I keep trying to explain to him that things will never make him happy, but I don't thinkn he quite understands yet : )

I think that my parents used to say that my generation were ones that always wanted stuff, but I disagree, I think the generation that we are raising now 'want' for a lot more. Although maybe they just 'get' a lot more!

Did your daughter go red too?

No my daughter is still just peroxide blond : ) It's amazing how fast their hair actualy grows, she already has just under a centimeter of black coming through. It still looks good though.

My daughter asks for less than my son, she is better at amusing herself from within so to speak, so she can draw of play with plastscine, my desk is littered with little plastacine monsters and people and other strange things, she is very good at entertaning her self with what ever is to hand. My son seems to need something or someone else to help him amuse himself, don't know why that is.

: )

P.S. Yes I did the hair : )

They really are a couple of stunners, have you heard anything from their mum?

Posted on: January 31, 2014 - 4:18pm

Bubblegum
DoppleMe

There was a note through the door, from mum around christmas sometime, saying some presents would be delivered and then we've not heard anything since.

I dont remember if I posted on here but a couple of weeks after my son's eleventh birthday last November, I'd forgotten to lock the front door, something I normaly do religiously and during the evening she pushed a bag of presents through.

The thing is that she doesn't know them, shes not seen them for about five or six years, doesnt know what they like, what they are into and so the stuff was nothing realy that they wanted, and also a few years too young for them, half of them wrapped and none of them labeled, we had to guess.

Anna! I think my daughter is going to grow up thinking that it is the man that must do everything, wash cook clean and all that, because that is what she sees every day : )

Later as I'm cooking pork in cider with anchovies and mash, but not just any old mash, it's mash with a few sweet potaties and butter and cream... as I'm very posh.

Hi Bubblegum, it's great to see you. We "know" you're very posh, you didn't have to tell us, ha Laughing Hope the meal went well.

Your son's pic is fantastic. As for role models, it's good for both of them to look around and see how different families operate. My eldest seems to be turning into what the Sunday papers call a New Man which is great; I think it is so hard for young men in particular to know how to "be" in today's world.

How did you feel about the surprise prezzie delivery? I know in the past you have felt nervous about her making a reappearance.

Posted on: February 1, 2014 - 8:01am

Bubblegum
DoppleMe

I get worried when she reappears but then it only happens maybe once a year.

And then it's back to normal. It's usualy around christmas or her birthday. I expect realy the underlying fear is more of how our world will change beyond my control should she come back into our lives. But hopefully that isnt something I'm going to have to deal with for as long as I possible can't at least anyway : )

I encourange my son just to 'be' himself, as much as I can, I expect though realy, subconciously, I'm encouraging him to be some sort of image of me that I want him to be : )

Same with my daughter, though that would be some sort of image of the kind of women I find interesting.

I dunno! : )

At the end everything will just be what it's going to be anyway and so I shall just deal with it : )

Later!
