You need some super powers Bubblegum, like superman... i think he is the one that can turn back time, it does fly by, it feels like it has got even faster since mine have reached their teens.
He flew round and round the world to make it turn backwrds to turn back time to save Lois Lane : )
In the mornings when I rip the quilt from off my children in order to help them wake up, they remind me of little hermit crabs the way they sort of curl up when exposed to the harsh morning air, in the same way like when you pick up a little hermit crab on the beach and turn it over it sort of sinks back into its shell, well that's kind of what my kids do in the morning.
Sometimes I go off and do stuff, like make their sandwiches or a coffee or something and then when I go back into the frontroom they have gotten up and walked across the room to the ottoman, retrieved their quilts and gone back to bed. Then when I try to get their quilts off them they are gripping them tightly and I have to tickle them to make them let go.
Then they get up.
Today is a good day as because of the strike, schools amongst other things are closed here, work has given me the day off as I could not get any child care, how nice are they! : )
My son watched through all the Matrix films the other week and has started wearing all black, including a leather jacket, even at the beach in glaring sun.
Quite a nice day for the strike here...
I got that book for my daughter too - I think it was mentioned on here!
Great photos, as always bubblegum.
: )
We cycled to Conwy and had icecream from the localy produced icecream shop : )
Lovely :-)
When I got home from work the other day I gave my son a big long hug and told him I loved him, it was a bit spontaneous and longer and harder than normal as I'd been having those daydreams you have where bad things happen during my cycle home. A couple of seconds into the hug he said, 'is this so I won't turn into a gothic teenager?'
Bless him but he thinks that troubled teens are gothic and that they get that way because they don't get enough love and hugs :)
Awww...
My niece was a goth.
She's now 33, with a Masters degree...
I hope you're enjoying the sunshine bubblegum - down by the sea every day?
Most days : )
When I'm not working booooo!
: )
:-))
Can't get near the beaches here now, well not until evening anyway...
Another beautiful pic of your boy! Was the goth comment because he has taken to wearing all black?!
No! The all black thing seems to have passed, crisis overted, the cuddles must be working.
My daughter though, I just caught her examining her developing breasts, she saw me noticing, looked at me and mumbled boobies in a sort of pretend evil voice, and laughed like a mad scientist.
So she seems to be dealing with it all in her own happy way : )
Sounds like she also has a great sense of humour glad the cuddles are working, has he moved on to another style ?
It's surprising how they do seem to deal with things in their own happy way.
Like we did : )
Like children do.
And life goes on.
My daughter!
She is amazing (just in case there was any doubt!)
Stunning photo bubblegum
She is...
Thanx chaps!
We just got back from cycling around Angelsey and wild camping, it was amazing : )
Hamacas as the the sun set by Ynys Llanddwyn on our wild camping cycle trip around Angelsey : )
Aaah so that is what wild camping is, WOW. The three of you sure have some fun together.
It just means camping but not in camp sites and the only thing you should leave is a mark where the tent was.
Someone had put up all those hammocks made from fishing nets, so we used them, that is Newburough forest, but we spent five days cycling all the way around Angelsey and camping in hidden corners : )
Cheap holiday!
Here we are outside a house I lived in near Brynsiencyn for a year or so when I was about eight!
Nice to visit a childhood place again. I have recently been in touch with a chap I was at school with, I was really surprised to find he looks just like his dad now and is no longer 20. Whyever not? Was your old house as you remembered it?
There used to be a pond in the guarden that I threw some sort of expencive crystal cut glass thing into, I was into all things archeology at the time, behind me where I'm taking that picture is an old Roman fort, the idea was that someone would find it in the future : )
The pond was gone : (
The house looked much the same as I remembered it.
We all end up becomeing our parents : )
When I meet people from my past I always think god they look so old, but then I think that on the rare occasion that I see myself in a mirror too : )
I watched the 56up (you know the programme that followed 7 year olds every 7 years?) at the end of it there was the quote "Give me the boy at 7 and I'll show you the man"
I think this is really true, we are all as we were at 7 years old, except now we have responsibilities and unfortunately less opportunity to be silly!!
Brilliant bubblegum. The weather has been perfect for that :-))
I don't know the program Anna, but! There are things about my kids, manerisums and such, that they had when they were sat in their bouncers while I bounced them that they still have now. My nan once said to me something along the lines of, that, we all stop at an age and then our bodies carry on getting old, she lived into her nineties, I remember her telling me she still felt she was in her early 20's inside : )
Sparklinglime! We came home friday but then went back out for two days to Beaumaris, we just got back a couple of hours ago, just before the rain broke.
: )
I find it funny when my daughter does things like her father and she hasn't seen him for phew 10 years!
I recently read an article with a list of questions that will free your mind. The first question is How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
I asked a few people that question and it was really interesting hearing their answers, so bubblegum and sparklinglime I put it to you "How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?"
I'd still be how old I am, I just wouldn't know it!
: )
Ok, ok, all right bubblegum, let me rephrase that!
How old would you say you were if you didn't actually know?
And you didn't have mirrors, or society telling you that a grey hair or a paunch means over 40.........
: )
A couple of years younger than I am.
People have told me I don't look my age, but then maybe they were just being nice.
Why do you ask?
My daughter seems to have been at my 'Dopple Me' again : )
Physically I feel about 103.
Mentally I feel about 25...
Dopple Me is looking good!
I put the question to you because we were discussing age, how old we feel, or how surprised we are when we look in the mirror and I had been reading the 'questions to open your mind' and it just got me thinking and my answer surprised me, tis all.
Thank you sparklinglime for your answer, were you surprised? Did it take much thinking about? I know that older people always say that they feel like a teenager inside, but I don't think I had ever really thought about it myself.
I saw your doppleme on another thread bubblegum, I wondered if your children have grown so much over the holidays with all that fresh air that you decided you needed to change it!
Ooh sparkling, I feel 103 too! Inside, I seem to swing between 103 and 6. Sometimes I am so silly and laugh till I am weak, other times I feel wise, other times I feel sort of tired with the world and its ways, but then something comes along to make me laugh, and people interest me so much that I go off on a mental and speculative journey that inspires me.
Yes Bubblegum everyone in your family seems to be the same height now. I am actually the shortest in my family now.
Anna, how old do you feel?
Hi Louise, well after some thought, I realised that I still feel 15 !!
:)
ah ah, just come back from holidays and found this thread....my aches and pains tell me I am actually 54 and have seriously overdone it for the last 40 years....extreme sports, extreme partying, extreme messing about....but I still feel about 22, especially as I have not learned to slow down yet! I never feel wise.....just act as if I was!
I felt I grew up as much as I was going to at 25. It's a day I had a conversation with my Mum, so no hesitation with that age.
Still 103 today. I don't feel well and I'm so stiff! Glad I'm not working today.
I don't intend to grow up!
Oh sparklinglime, sorry to hear that you are feeling stiff, the weather here has been pretty rough the last couple of days, it has definitely gotten colder, is that the same where you are?
I have another question "What is something you have always wanted.....since you were a child?"
I always wanted a horse - but then isn't that every little girl's dream?
I will have to think of this one as nothing springs to mind.
That is one thing my friend is trying to get me to do is remember my dreams.
Seeing the northern lights - although I'm not sure that goes back to childhood!
One of my good friends when I was little had a horse, we all thought she was sooo lucky, he was called Tinker! Do you think you would like a horse now sparkling?
I would love to see the northern lights too, do you think you will ever fulfill that wish?
I have always wanted to live abroad, most of my extended family live overseas and I always felt that it was unfair, I have been lucky enough to travel a lot over the last 5 years and I plan to do a lot more of it as my daughter becomes more and more independant and ONE DAY I might fulfill my dream!
Ooh sparkling, my sister always wanted a horse! My childhood dreams were to be in one of the books I loved such as What Katy Did or The Railway Children. Maybe I might write my own book one day, especially now I am involved in the editing
Whereabouts would you like to live, Anna?
If friend has his way I will get the chance to see the Northern Lights.
I no longer want a horse It just so happens I'm very allergic to them...
Oh whoops! allergic to them, good job you discovered that. And it's a lovely ambition, to see the Northern Lights
I think it will probably be Europe, Mallorca perhaps?
sparklinglime, I really hope you do get to see the Northern Lights, I really enjoyed the programme when Joanna Lumley went to see them.
Louise, I would definitely love to read any book that you wrote it would be funny, warm and entertaining without a doubt. And you could create yourself as the central role
bubblegum?
I have the DVD oh her adventure It always makes me cry!
I have been absolutely obsessed with sailing ever since I was 5 year old and swapped a budgerigar for a model sailing boat...I dream of getting to a small island in the Caribbean, or maybe to New Zealand...I can just carry on dreaming.......
You need to hold on to those dreams sergiozed...
: )
They are growing up, I wish I could slow it all down and enjoy it for longer : )
