Good morning all Smile

Hi tired mum and great to see you but sorry that things have not turned out as well as we were all hoping. Aha burnout....when you are a giving person then it is all too easy to neglect yourself. Think of yourself as an ATM. There will be no cash for anyone to draw out if the ATM is not replenished in the first place. So things that you do for YOU are not being selfish, you are filling yourself up ready to give again Kiss How are the family?

Looby, you did fantastically at the bowling, well done! As for J's glasses, well Harry Potter has really helped boys to like the idea these days.

LRH eurgh who would have a 14 year old?!?!?!? When my eldest was about that age he was chatting on MSN to a friend who was going to come round and call for him and he put "mine is the scruffy house with the manky window frames and the clapped out old car on the drive, everything here is crap" or something similar. I had been a single parent for 5 years by this point and was working in four jobs (three daytime and one evening one, with no money from his dad, just to keep us all fed and watered) At that point I realised that even if I had provided a mansion with a swimming pool and chauffeur driven Rolls Royce then he would say it wasn't good enough as we did not have a butler! What I am saying is their values get skewed at this age and although it is hurtful and absolutely infuriating, rowing will not solve it. In fact it does not really get solved till they get a part time job at 16 and suddenly realise how hard you have to work to earn a fiver and yet how easily it is spent. I have great sympathy with you on this one, believe me.

Hazeleyes hope you have had a decent night, I have posted to you on the Grandad thread. What's for dinner today? I have got some gammon as eldest is now in residence. He loved getting into a proper bed as he has slept on a mattress in a sleeping bag for the last couple of nights.

Hopeful, Christian, how are you both? Pancake queen how did yesterday go? (shakes in boots a little!) Sparkling what are you all up to today?

Good morning all. July 1st, and sun is shining. Long may it last eh. Not read the last of the June thread, so take a look in a mo. Louise, I am fine thankyou. Main thing is C is okay about it. I couldn't give a monkeys, as long as he is okay.

So, your eldest is now home. I bet it feels great to have both boys with you again, like the old days hehe. We have sausages, not sure what with yet. Gammon sounds lovely, Mmmmm.

Hi All,

I can't belive its the 1st of July already, this year is going so quickly.

Louise, I'm a chicken and still haven't spoken to my parents! I'm so scared of it going the wrong way.

I've got a day of shopping, my youngest H is in desparate need of new knickers! and my eldest A needs a new cylcling helmet as she is doing her cycling proficency at school next week

Quiet on the boards today. Hopefully means, everyone is having some lovely sunshine, and out enjoying it! Had a good day here. Didn't step outside. Normal Sunday chores, and have just finished watched the first Harry Potter DVD with C. Figured if I was going to try and get into it, I should start at the beginning. Have to admit, I enjoyed it, mainly because I could follow the story hehe. C is delighted that  1) I didn't fall asleep during this one! and 2) I watched it from beginning to end! Football now on (boring), but shall be going to bed before it finishes.

Hope everyone has a good week ahead.

Good morning all!

Oo-er a plethora of sport on the telly; at least the footy has finished Smile

Hopeful, I know you don't like sitting around but have you been able to spend some quality time with the children?

Tiredmum I can't believe that your youngest is off to high school! Wow. I know what you mean about adult children. One morning, a couple of years ago now I was stopped at traffic lights and looked out of the car window to see a mum and a boy of about 7 rushing along to school and laughing together and I suddenly had tears in my eyes Wink Yes it is hard to look after ourselves but we are our main resource and so we must!

Hazeleyes, Harry Potter will be the bane of your life....yes I enjoyed the first movie, I think because it introduced all the new concepts.

Pancake queen hope you are starting to feel better.

Eldest is very much in residence and we had a heated debate.....correction, I had a heated "lecture" on Marxist class theory. Luckily I was able to counter this with mentioning how one of the American chaps from church was about to go out to Afghanistan and we had prayed for him and this steered the subject matter of the lecture into the realms of whether religion gave moral credence to terrorism, which was a tad more interesting for the audience (me) Phew.

Hope everyone will have a good day. Don't forget we have MARY joining us later today, so am looking forward to that Smile

My ex is messing me around over renewing A's passport, he was supposed to text his details so I could go to the post office today, but surprise surprise I haven't heard from him, he knows I need to do it ASAP as we are going away next month and I am fast running out of time. Mary, great to have you on the boards Smile

Eldest insisted on accompanying me to the hairdresser today Surprised He has now gone off to Leeds as he is helping with a charity quiz tonight and staying at a friend's, so it has gone quiet. Youngest has been dragooned into tidying out his clothes drawers, heh heh.

Opticians tomorrow for C, so shall bring him home with me at 12.

Your eldest is so sweet, accompanying you to hairdressers. Does he think you're too doddery on your own now hehe. Feeling sorry for the youngest though, having to tidy his clothes drawers (Not)Cool Beware though, he'll be building up an appetite!

I made the call and spoke to my mum!!!!

She was quite angry....didn't understand why I was 'protecting' the girls from the 'truth' about their dad. She said she didn't like it when they spoke about him like he was the bee's knees and that they needed to know what he was really like. I explained that they loved him and needed to be able to talk openly about their feelings. She then said if they didn't like what she said then they needed to learn not to talk about him infront of her.....aagghh....who is the adult here Yell

I've left it for know as I could see things weren't going anywhere and I was in danger of losing my temper....thankfully we haven't fallen out but I don't think I've heard the last of it...especially when she tells my dad.

Sorry I haven't joined the July thread yet - I should be chatting because we are on school holidays now but still finding life difficult

Saw solicitor yesterday and felt a bit calmer - it seems to be that things will need to be "fair" so now there will be letters going back and forth till we sort things out - I should get legal aid but it has to be paid back if I get any financial settlement

Youngest had a massive strop yesterday - I was shocked - she went to her room and fell asleep - it was nearly bedtime - I think she is feeling a bit stressed about two holidays - she does get anxious

Off to Pizza Express for lunch today so something nice to look forward to

Hopeful I hope the sunshines for your picnic

Hazeleyes hope things calm down at school - you don't have long to go and I think the kids are really tired - maybe why C has headaches

Louise is the eldest getting his haircut tooCool

Hello everyone

How are you all?

PQ I think it is a real shame about your mum, I have posted to you on the other thread. But Denmark, that sounds a lovely treat to look forward to Smile

Hi sparkling, are any of yours involved in the carnival? has it got scouty input?

I am glad C is at the opticians, Hazeleyes, just in case that is affecting the headaches. Burger and chips was a nice treat. I bet you can't wait the end of term now Tongue Out

LRH good to see you posting. It does feel as if everything legalwise has suddenly changed up a couple of gears and this is very stressful (although to use a yukky analogy it can be like lancing a boil....worse while it is happening but good in the long run) Try to stay calm with the girls, even if they are kicking off. As for the Legal Aid, check with your solicitor but when I was getting divorced, you did not have to repay it straightaway but could defer it until the house was eventually sold.

Hopeful, that is lovely that you have all had some time together, a bit of time out when your lives are so busy.

Eldest came to hairdresser for a gossip, there was an older lady in there having a shampoo and set and the hairdresser is always chatty so he really enjoyed it. Youngest came up with a black bag full of stuff from The Pit although I doubt it will have made much difference. I have counselling later and then youngest is getting an achievement award at the big hall in town, they have selected a few people from his college. I am sitting IN A BOX (of the theatre variety, not carboard Wink)

LRH you did absolutely the right thing with you teen...and your youngest too. Well done to you. Sometimes I think I should have a hole right through my tongue because I have to bite it so often, as a parent.

Well my evening was very good to start with, the box was fab and my demeanour only partly rattled by a young lady whispering to me in the foyer that I had my dress tucked up in my knickers at the back Embarassed......Was very proud of son and sitting in the box meant I got a little video of him receiving his award, and also I managed to look down my nose at the mayor as he paraded in. Then we went home and youngest went to his friend's house to "supervise a prom party" He was supposed to sleep there but a crash at 2.45am told me he had come home. He was dragged out of bed at 6.15 by me and thrown in the general direction of work, where he had to be by 7. I feel a curfew coming on.......

Have a good day everyone Laughing

Hi all...Just a quick 'pop in' before going to do my volunteering for today.....I can not believe it is already July! Where has the rest of the year hone already? Is it me, or does time seem to be speeding up?..

How is everyone today? Seems like this miserable weather is here for a while...can't wait for it to cheer up a bit, so I can try my new stunt kite....( big kid that I am)!

Also trying to take my mind off divorce not going that quickly( as they don't), by planning for my wedding( I know it isn't until 2014,but trying to spread out the costs as don't have a lot of money and on a tight budget)...So,have managed to buy Bridesmaids dresses off ebay for £50 each and the girls can hopefully wear them as Prom dresses next year to get more wear from them...( they are lace up backs so have plenty of 'give' too in case of any weigth fluctuations). Got wedding dress off Ebay too for £150 ( which I think is a good price too...also with room to manoever should I put weight on 'cough, cough'...also, getting artificial flowers so a lot cheaper and will last....so doing quite well I think...

I don't want anyone to feel awkward about me talking about all this...but am saying it to try and show that we really don't know what is around the corner, and at our lowest moments it's good to still have this hope...If you had spoken to me a year ago, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd be here where I am now, so really now just try to go with the flow of things ... Who knows? Things may or may not work out over the long run, and many things change in life...but I have learnt that we have to grab any opportunity that comes our way....xxx

The knickers thing happened to me about two years ago as well, it is long dresses that do it.
