Yes, there is a lot going on for you, sparkling and it feels like once you have at least one coat of paint on and the carpet back down that you can begin to think RIGHT , here we go. Hopefully you can get that done before Christmas, then can you get your armchair back?
I'm almost craving for an armchair to sit on I have it on a platform so I can get in and out easier. Going to sit in someone elses isn't quite an option - well not without a winch.
Even if its Christmas eve...
Plaster is drying out
Glad the plaster is drying Sparkling. Hope you're okay. xxx
I'm not nagging, honest....
How long can it take for the money advisor to get back to me please?
What day did you write, sparklng? They say seven days in their section
I was wondering if there was anything for eldest really. I'm pretty sure there isn't though. Its not a surprise either, as I knew all stopped at 20
Keeping my fingers crossed for you Sparkling. Hope there is something. xx
Hi sparklinglime, I am glad they turned up and were nice. February seems such a long way off, however it will fly by! Before you know it you will be showering to your hearts content
The work men have gone.
Thank you letter written to the company that the brilliant chappy works for sent to tell them how brilliant he is. Not at any point has he made me feel awkward about being disabled. He's been practical, pointing out where grab rails can go and how they are practical placed there. He has been immaculate and left the bathroom so tidy every night. He's been polite and he made me laugh.
That's it now.
All the work has been done.
I have tears that keep streaming down my face. Even my daughter cried.
It has been such a long - very long - 7 months. I never though anything would be a nightmare again after we were declared homeless six years back.
Painting will hopefully be done this weekend. Carpet fitted hopefully be next weekend. I need a date, as I'm hoping the housing association will come to take the front door off so we can get the settee and armchair in. So a few expenses to finish off, but money has been put aside for that.
Shower will be usable by morning. I should be by tonight, but best to wait until the morning so the sealant can go off properly.
Oh yes... and put the front door back on, of course...
Sparkling, I have got tears in my eyes, too. That's so great, and you deserve it so much
Thank you.
I'm not sure about deserving it though, as all those "why should the state to do anything for me" doubts have been creeping back in. Insomnia doesn't help, of course - although it will mean I'll be in the shower early
I feel dazed.
Thank you so much though for being there.
xxx
Absolutely brilliant news Sparkling, and don't you dare start doubting whether you deserve it. Hopefully the shower is going to be the start of good things to come for you and the children. Let us all know how the first walk in shower feels for you
I will probably oversleep in the morning and have to dive out the house to get fifteen year old to the art course!!
The three older ones have decided to paint under the new dado rail rasberry, like the main wall.
Music blaring and amazingly, they're all joyful!
Thank you
xxxxxxxxx
Only way to get work done, is having music blaring Sparkling. Just ask Louise
Glad the painting is getting done. It'll look lovely and fresh, and once you have carpet and furniture in, it'll be home
It looks really nice too.
Have had a shower. It's a shame I have a migraine - all yesterday's drama was a bit too much maybe!
The shower was rather overwhelming too. Sobbed after! Hahahaha! I am a daft banana.
Fifteen year old at college today.
Ah but at least you are a clean banana!
Feels soooooo good too!
So pleased for you sparkling that you have finally been able to shower, and the long wait is nearly over and hopefully all will be done for xmas
Hoooray! I am sooo pleased for you sparkling. You are a caring, hard working, considerate human being and have been through many hurdles and still you come on here and support others, so YES you DO deserve it
Thank you so much.
I've just had a phone call. It seems I'm going to have a blind fitted to the window too
ooh so you will be a clean AND private banana!
Hahahaha! Have to say that I wait for window to mist up!
(phew)
The chappy did come to lay the carpet. He had to put a join in it, but you wouldn't know... Also it's a bit wrinkly after the 18 months in the garage, but nothing you can't live with (well, it was free...)
Went to do the wages - and talk, of course.
Came home and the HA had been to take the door off, the children had brought in the settee and the armchair and put the small pre-lit tree up...
Yes, I did cry buckets. Sobbed, yet again. And I've been asleep, in the armchair.
OK, still need to iron (my job) the curtains and get them up, but it's done. It looks lovely.
Good night.

Wow Wow Wow. That is fantastic news Sparkling, carpet down, furniture in, and the comfy armchair for you. No wonder you cried. It's been a long time coming for you. Curtains will take no time at all, and then the living room will be even cosier for you all. Did you go to bed, or did you sleep in the armchair? Really am so so pleased for you. Merry Christmas xxx
Fantastic, so glad that everything is coming together and you can enjoy your Christmas in comfort sparkling
Aww sparkling, me too, I am soo pleased to read that you now have your living room and your bathroom complete before Christmas.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday
Thank you so much.
I went to bed about 1.30am - waited for eldest to come in. And slept through until 9am!
Lazy xxxxx
AT LAST, hooray and in time for Chrimbo too. I bet you are so relieved and happy!!!
So very happy, thank you! Thing is, I sit in the arm chair and nod off!!
I would, too, it's our age, sparkling
The room has been plastered. I've to leave it for 6 weeks before painting. Chap from HA called around though and said no, wait until the plaster looks dry! One coat won't hurt, but I will leave it a couple of weeks. I would like to paint before the carpet goes down.
Even if its mildewy, its going down! Hopefully I can get it cleaned to freshen it up as its been in the garage so long!
Chap from HA is going to bring undercoat and satin finish gloss (would prefer gloss, gloss, but honestly I'm not moaning) for the woodwork. He was going to bring paint, but I already have that.
Trying to be positive. Feeling less negative at least. Just lots of things to deal with at the moment.
