Hello one and all
Good to catch up with your news. Lots of poorly people around at the moment. Hope your daughter is feeling better, Sally. How's your leg, Sparkling? What a worry about your son's shoulder, kiera. As for me, I am back to my usual cheeky self
Skyflower, it is hard to get through day to day sometimes, as you say you put a brave face on it for the children then want to let it all out when they are not there. It is a good idea to acknowledge this to yourself and think of what outlet you could have for your emotions. Some people find punching a cushion helpful, others to go for a very brisk walk, fast action will disperse the adrenaline produced by your emotion. It's ok to cry...tears contain stress hormones so you are letting out stress by crying. We do all understand how hard it is to get through these times, take care of yourself.
Hazleyes were you at work today? It's a big step to not worry so much about the housework, I am a lot more relaxed these days, used to get het up about it when the boys were younger.
PQ your weekend sounds good, what did you think of the film? I have heard the special effects are fantastic. I think I might feel dizzy though.
That's great about your daughter following in your footsteps with Scout leadership, sparkling.
Kiera what does your son say when he talks about his feelings about his illness?
Been into town today, in the pouring rain, went to bank, butcher's, did some shopping and had a PC (posh coffee) Been taking part in a bereavement study for another counsellor who is doing an MA so had to do a piece of writing about that experience.Watched the film "Notes on a Scandal" quite a few years old, Judi Dench as a jealous schoolteacher in pursuit of Cate Blanchett.
Have a good evening everyone
Hi Kiera, I have read only part of your thread now, you have been so brave !
Thank you for your kind words, Pancakequeen, Hazeleyes and Louise
hi sky yes my thread very long lol ud b readin it all week, are u goin thru court
yes Kiera, since 2 years now
2 years is long time, i went thru court for over a year, very stressful, but thts what my ex wanted to make my lie as miserable as possible
yes, Kiera, exactly, thanks for your understanding
its ok hun ive bin there and done that
Morning everyone feels like it is going ot be a cold one.
Youngest is feeling better and so am i after a goodnights sleep, she did not settle the other night until 4 in the morning. Work today!
keira thats a shame about your sons shoulder hopefully they can get it as good as new.
It's tough going skyflower hang in there, what are you doing today?
How are you today Hazeleyes?
Glad to hear your back to your normal self Louise, what did you do on your day off?
Hope everyone else is doing o.k, PQ, sparkling, Hopeful!
Hope you all are wrapped up when your out and about.
Hi Everyone,
You must be tired Sally, hope you get a better night tonight, I am off to work today. hope everyone will have a good day !
Another reason I'm down is because the WTC computer decided, in error there was a change in my circumstances.
They missed a week's payment and I loaned £200 from my boss.
Now instead of paying that week, they are spreading the money between now and April.
I get a normal payment (with an additiona £10) tomorrow and will have to repay my boss. This has left me in a critical situation financially.
I feel sick.
Work is crap and ideally, any more sarcasm and I was going to walk out today.
Clearly, Christmas is cancelled as I won't now have the funds for dinner, never mind presents.
Rather hard to know what to do. Hell or high water I will be repaying that money tomorrow.
Thank god that final payment for the car has gone...
I really am not in a good place.
I'm so sorry to be miserable. And I'm sorry to be letting off steam here.
So sorry you are in such a spot sparklinglime, I can't understand why they just can't pay you when they have made the mistake. Awful situation before Christmas
Hi Sparkling, have you spoken to the WTC people and explained your situation. It seems wrong that you should be punished for their mistake! I don't think some people realise how an amout like £200 can have such a significant impact on a famiy's life, for some it must seem like such a small amount!! I hope you can get something sorted.
Skyflower I hope you are feeling ok today.
Well A is in full teenager mode again so life at home is very tense! I'm trying really hard to keep calm and will be digging 'that book' out when I get home for back up.
Hope its not too cold where you are, I had to de-ice the car this morning, but no snow so I'm happy!
hi sparklin aw shame why shud u go without money, not ur mistake and bfore exmas, aw hun i feel for u, av word with ur boss and explain, is he nice bossx
Hi all. Absloutely freezing today, bbbrrrrrhh.
Sorry you're in this position Sparkling. Totally unfair when it was their mistake. I would ring them, explaining that you've borrowed etc etc.
Off to do a bit of tidying. Hope you all keep warm
I explained this morning. They didn't give a hoot, and I should appreciate that they've upped my weekly payment to cover it. She sees it that I'm getting more. I see that they're avoiding paying arrears.
I don't have the energy to argue.
Seventeen year old should have been at the dentist. He disappeared. My throat is sore from screaming at him, as I had told him not to go out. This is the reason why I need to take days off if he has appointments, which of course I can't do now I'm working.
Today life is just too hard to face.
I didn't think I could feel much lower or more tired. Loads to do with Scouts too.
I don't care anymore.
aw sparkling are u ok,. not fair is it bout ur moneyx
Afternoon everyone,
Sorry everything is coming at you full force at the moment sparkling, your probably aware that you can appeal against the tax credits decision, you could always drop the money expert on here a message to see if they can suggest something, are you able to take some time out just for you? hopefully the dentist will be sympathetic and not charge for the missed appointment.
How was work Skyflower?
How are you today keira?
It has got colder this week Hazeleyes, i feel like i'm forever tidying.
Teens can be so unpredictable with there behaviour PQ somedays i wonder how i still have some hair left, hope things settle down quickly, has something happened at school or something happened to set her off?
I have dinner to sort, then i'm off to a course for a couple of hours, hope you all have a good evening.
don't know what to say to you Sparklinglime, sometimes it is a little too much,
we are thinking of you
I can't quite cope at the moment Sally, just waiting for it to happen...
hi sky how are u, what is goin on with u at the mo, x
Sorry things aren't too good skyflower.
I've got another appointment for son on Friday morning. I can go in late to make sure he doesn't disappear this time...
well done, Sparkling, you sorted it, despite feeling low.
it is a waiting game now, I have to see what the judge will decide and how next hearing will go
Hello everyone, a really cold night and woke up to it being much milder and very windy. How are you all today?
PQ were things calmer in your house last night? Sorry I didn't answer you about Strictly, yes Suzanna's paso was excellent, I did not cry at the dance but when she got her three 10s, that's when I shed a tear. I was very impresssed with Ashley this week as well. Natalie is a fab dancer but I just don't like her, I wonder how many people are voting for her.
Sparkling I am not surprised you feel rotten, you cope very well day to day but then hit a brick wall like this. I am sure you can appeal this decision. Let me know if you want some help writing a Victor Meldrew letter. See here for where to write to. You need to have a good think about how it is possible to claw back a bit of "you" time, or if not, some nice time with your work friend, you really seem to get on with her. Just baby steps when things are hard, remember?
Hazleyes, you would be proud of me as I did a massive declutter of a terrible shelf in my wardrobe yesterday, it was like the Tardis with all the stuff coming out, anyway a large bag has gone to the charity shop and some stuff in the bin, the other stuff in now is sections where I can find it. How is work for you at the moment?
Skyflower times are tough right now and yes it is a case of waiting for the next hearing, awful to be in limbo, feels as if your life is on hold. What are you up to today?
Kiera hope things have settled down a bit for you. Did you get in touch with Citizen's Advice?
Sally glad you had a better sleep, what was your course about?
I had two counselling clients yesterday (number 3 forgot to come) as well as a lie-in and my decluttering. Then in the evening I went to housegroup, one of the chaps there is from the Isle of Skye so he gave us haggis, has anyone else tried it and what did you think? Got counselling supervisor today.Take care everyone and have a good day.
Hi everyone,
Its been snowing a bit here this morning but nothing has settled thankfully! Its very cold though.
A was just as moody last night but I think I may have got to the bottom of it. She said a group of boys are picking on her at school although when I tried to get specific info from her she was a bit vague. Not sure if she's using it as an excuse for being grumpy as this particular episode started on sunday...but I've said I will phone her head of year and ask her to look into it so we'll see. Hopefully we can sort it out as she is saying she wants to change schools.
Did you like the Hagis Louise? I've never had it before but would be happy to try a taste, not sure I would order it as a meal though.
Hi everyone, it has been windy here too and had got decidely chilly when i went to pick up L.
What has everyone been up to today?
Glad you have got to the bottom of things with A PQ, has the mood improved?
What did you think of the Hagis Louise? i've never had it.
Whens the hearing Skyflower?
The course was to do with Data training, it was rather good until the end were they showed slides of data that were not in our packs the writing on the slides was to small to see, so had no idea what they were talking about, the two people sat next to me missed most of what they said looking in the pack for the information.
Back out in the cold in abit it's singing tonight.
I don't know now Sally, it is one attack after the other with no breathing space and when I show evidence it is ignored. An extra hearing is being called.
It sounds like fun, the singing, I would love to join
Well done Louise on your cupboard clearance. Extremely proud of you. Fancy doing mine? Hehe. Work is great thankyou. Loving the younger year, but of course they are very needy and if they could grab onto my legs they would!! They are a lovely bunch though and we do have fun. Great feedbacks from my line manager too, which is fantastic to hear.
C's had several problems with the 'bully' since September. He dealt with things for a while, but then I decided a letter was called for. Six years now since it all started and still they dont suspend the little **** Onwards and upwards though eh!
Any news on your eldest? Hows the youngest getting on with new job?
hi to everyone else. Pq, hold on to that snow where you are okay. I know its nice to share, but just this once......
Hello lovely people, how are you all today?
I was so relieved to get home last night, it was 9.30 by then and I had been to a rather dull meeting and come out to find my windscreen covered in snow! It had lashed with rain and sleet since 4pm and there were huge standing puddles on the roads and paths and I had got wet through rushing from the car to the office, my teeth were chattering. Then one woman fell asleep in the meeting haha.
PQ yes that could be in the mix re A...in any case you have dealt with it really well because you are taking forward what has happened and if there is "not a lot" in it, well she will see that if she alleges something then there are consequences, sounds harsh but one of life's lessons for them to learn.
Hazeleyes, good idea about the letter, let's hope the bully goes to a different High School, but wherever he goes he will find short shrift there, they tend to have very robust anti-bullying policies so really the primary school has not done him any favours. Glad the job is going well, you do seem to be very good with the children and the fact that they cling to you shows you that, even if it is a bit annoying at times.
Sally I hope you defrosted enough to do the singing.
Skyflower, hope your day is a bit easier, do you have any techniques to help deal with the stress at all?
Sparkling how are you feeling, did you think about that letter?
Youngest is eagerly awaiting the transfer to Security, it is called "going into blacks" so I am taking a good guess at what the uniform might be. Eldest is going away the weekend after this coming one with The Girl to Bamburgh. He is really excited as has been on friends-type holidays but not a romantic weekend before.I bought him a Groupon for a tapas meal for them as well. Haggis: well I only had a taste, it is a bit like peppery minced lamb but whilst not greasy, you can tell there is some fat in it by the taste so not something I would have apart from an occasional taste. It's quiz night tonight at a curry house, I am looking forward to it but really going out three evenings in a row is not my usual style so some jama nights will follow!
Hope you will all have a good day
I hope your eldest has a good weekend Louise, and that youngest isn't waiting too long.
Enjoy the quiz this evening.
I'm not going to write a letter. I don't have the energy too. I've been to the gym this morning, and now plan on a lazy day. Really am a bit fed up feeling down and trying to hide it from people. I know I should, but I'll manage, and probably be grateful for the extra a week when daughter's child benefit and child tax credit ends in February... But thank you for the offer Louise. I do appreciate it.
Scouts were cooking last night and my brilliant friend and other leader was fantastic. We invested three new ones, and will be investing another in a couple of weeks. I had to get loads of stuff from our hut to take to the hall where we now meet, and then take them back this morning after the gym.
That flaming boy hazeleyes. They just don't seem to go away, do they? I hope the letter works.
The Hagis does not sound to bad Louise, hope you enjoy your quiz night curry.
How was your lazy day sparkling?
I have to agree with Louise the school are not doing the boy any favours Hazeleyes, i hope the letter does the trick.
Skyflower it is really difficult going through the legal system, you may like to look at this article, do you have a support network of family and friends near you?
Last night went well, not sure whos bright idea it was to introduce instruments for each of the children, i had ringing ears for hours along with a shore throat from having to shout above all the noise. Having Jammies and hot chocolate night tonight.
Thank you Louise and Sally,
it is a really good article I wish I had read it 2 years ago,
hope everyone has a nice evening
Good morning all
Sally I think earplugs are in order at the next rehearsal. Glad you had a jama night, I have three of those lined up now as am really tired with all the events this week.
Skyflower, glad you found the article helpful. In particular it may reassure you as to the emotional process of going through this time. How are you doing this morning?
Sparkling, you sound very busy and tired out too, especially lugging all that stuff from the scout hut to the hall. Glad you went to the gym, it feels to me that it's important to keep this in your routine, even if you are really tired. Did you manage to get some quiet time later on?
The quiz night was great, the church took over the whole restaurant and they provided a yummy selection of food. The same people win every time so it was a nice surprise that WE WON this time.
What's everyone up to today?
Hi Skyflower, Louise and everyone else.
How is everyone? what is everyone up to this weekend?
Welldone your group Louise on winning the quiz.
Ballet later, then me and the girls are all of to a friends for a girly night, K is going to the cinema with friends (double dating really) and staying over night at his mates. Shopping and the usual chores over the weekend.
I did have a lazy day yesterday.
Managed to get the seventeen year old to the dentist this morning. It only took about ninety minutes of reminding for him to get up dressed and brush teeth... But its done.
And then I went to work and my colleague's daughter was at my computer doing the rest of the Sage that I keep saying I'md stuck with. Thank goodness! That made me so happy. The water was off at work though, so I didn't quite do my four hours as I needed the loo. The rest of the stuff I needed to do though I need to get to my computer, so I will pop in there tonight on the way to meteor watch.
I have spoken to all my children to make sure that they keep me going to the gym. I don't think that's a problem, as I really look forward to it.
I've not eaten since Wednesday, but fancy some tea, so oldest has gone to Asda to get some mushy peas, and to the chippy for some chips. I'll only have about 10 chips, but I'm hoping it will be nice.
I'm at a Craft fair tomorrow with a Scout stall, hoping that I'm not on my own there. Sunday taking three of my lot to the thing that I got lost going to back in September. First appointment of the day, so hopefully we'll be home by lunchtime.
I do hope everyone is doing ok.
hi hope everyone is ok, avin a glass of snowball, got myself bottle advocat and lemonade, so nice,im watchin emmerdale, debatein wheter put tree up tomz, as anyone else got tree up, my neighbour as x
Hello lovelies!
Thought I'd say a quick hello. Things still busy here. Work is manic as usual at this time of year. I am the mother of the wise man who takes Frankenstein to baby Jesus. J just cannot get it right bless him. New relationship is going ok, although I am still wary. He's very patient with me though so all good. All in all, life going quite well at the moment. Lots of laughter, which has been sadly lacking the past couple of years.
Hope everyone else ok. Will try and catch up on the news x
Hi everyone,
Went with my sons to town, they switched the lights on, there was a fair and such a crowd of people, fireworks and all, it was good to be out and just be with happy people
Had a glass of wine at home and watched a good movie, I seem to have to look at them all the time and try to make it fun time
Hope you have a great weekend
Hello everyone and how is your weekend going so far? it was soooooo icy this morning, I went into town first thing and it took me ages to get the car defrosted.
Skyflower that sounds good with the fireworks and great to get out and do something, it also then feels nicer to get back in the warm and watch your movie. Which one was it? Is anyone watching Celebrity Jungle this time? I love it but then I am a right square-eyes.
Kiera that's quite early for the Christmas tree, do you think your daughter will be able to resist fiddling with it? is it X Factor for you tonight?
Sally I hope you all behaved yourselves at the sleepover, I have heard these occasions can get raucous
Looby lovely to see you, that made me giggle about J taking Frankenstein to baby Jesus. When my eldest was J's age he used to sing "Away in a manger, no crisps in his bed" Glad the relationship is going well, good for you that there are some laughs in your life.
Sparkling, well done on getting your son to the dentist, good luck for the craft fair. ooh sorry to hear you have not been eating much, have you just felt you didn't want to eat? hope the chips were tasty. You got some work done too, hurrah
Eldest has been talking to me about how difficult it is to balance things out when you get into a new relationship, he is finding it hard to know how much and attention to give to the girlfriend, his friends, me, work and his alone time. I KNOW the answer is "planning" and he and his girfriend need to sit down together and do the separate family things on the same day to manage their time better, but it needs to occur to him rather than me telling him so I have just sympathised and been supportive. Got some online things to do today then Tv tonight. Tomorrow is church and have been invited to lunch with some friends, I bought some grape juice and flavoured water this morning to take along to the lunch, my friend is American and she was talking about pumpkin pie
Hope everyone will have a good day.
Made a good loss in the Christmas Craft fair!! Ho hum.
My daughter, youngest and I have really enjoyed Doctor Who.
Another attempt at Segway tomorrow. I've put the last of the wages in the car, but there we go. WTC going wrong couldn't be anticipated. I just hope this lot have a great time.
Take care everyone.
Ooh Segway, how exciting, they will love it! Sorry about the craft fair though.
Doctor Who...I must be the only person in the Uk who does not watch this, I know it is something that whole families enjoy together. Glad that you enjoyed it
How are you all today? Hope the day will go well, the prospect of No Cooking Today has great appeal for me as I go to my friends' house for lunch. What are you all up to?
How have your days been? I had a lovely lunch with my friend and am now going to get snuggled up in my fleece and see what's on the telly
They had a great time. Getting them up was a challenge, but they did get to the car before I drove off!
My friend was very thoughtful and sent a text to see if we got there this time. Ok, so he was being sarcastic really... We had a chat on Thursday, learning more about each other, and he was asking about The Git. So today he asked why I'd taken them. He said that they won't miss their father as they have me, and that I'm a brilliant Mum... My lot would not have agreed with that at 6.45am this morning.
I have to say that I tucked myself under the quilt that I keep down the side of my chair and watched corny Christmas movies! No work as my colleague's daughter has been on the Sage case. So happy, even if he sacks me and asks her to work there instead!
I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch Louise. x
Morning all
I'm sure it will all be o.k sparkling, nice that the daughter has helped with the sage backlog.
How was the pumpkin pie Louise?
How was everyone else's weekend?
Sleepover was great fun, ate pizza and chocolate and watched a movie, played some games. Had a drink and catch up on Saturday night with a friend. Work today.
Hi everyone,
How is everyone ? Glad you had a day off Sparklinglime. Louise, I watched warhorse, and had long walks this weekend.
Was at work today and coming back found an email of your legal expert who was really reassuring, I am glad I wrote it all down and had some answers. Not so scared of waiting for the date anymore. Everything feels lighter now...Thank you for that.
Sally great you had such a nice sleepover, we all need a break sometime
Skyflower that is great. Sometimes just getting the information can help us feel more in control. Warhorse that's a real weepie isn't it?
Sparkling, good for you, I adore cheesy Christmas movies. Glad the segwaying went ok. Your friend is right in what he said
Sally you had a fun weekend, hurrah.
Pumpkin pie tasted like egg custard tart, surprisingly. It was lovely to be with different people, my USA friend, her Geordie boyfriend, a young chap from our church who is the same age as my son and is doing an Internship and a lady from North Africa who has learned amazing English and works for a solicitor.
Tonight my neighbour is having a Temple Spa party, I am going to it and hope to get a Christmas gift for my friend. Then home for The Jungle on ITV plus one
Glad things feel better Skyflower.
I'm glad you had a good time Louise.
Work was surprisingly ok. The first hour took 280 minutes to pass though. At least it felt that way!
I'm aching so much this evening though. Sitting down for 9.5 hours hurts so much!
Enjoy the evening Louise.
I have to say I'm not into the jungle, but am waching NCIS recordings.
That's great skyflower, glad that they legal advice has put your mind at rest, did you have a good evening?
Are you still aching this morning sparkling?
Louise what is a Temple Spa Party?
Have done some more xmas shopping and got the kids their advent calenders.
Whats is everyone up to today?
Hi all,
Its very busy here so just popping in to say hi.
Have had a bit of a torrid time with A at school!
Afternoon everyone.
Hope you are able to take sometime for you PQ, have you not been able to sort the problem at school?
Louise what have you been up to today?
How is everyone, Skyflower, sparkling, hazeleyes, keira......
Had a really cold start here today it was really frosty, had one of those mornings where everything did not want to work properly which then messed up the afternoon abit as i got behind schedule All is now well.
hi sky i was in emotionaly abusive relationship, i do understand , im stil on edge now and iended it last may, even tho he harrassed me for weeks,
