Hi there!
I am writing to ask if you would be prepared to take part in a study I am conducting into the experiences of single parents. I am extremely interested in the challenges that single parents are facing on a day to day basis and would like to hear about your own experiences as a single parent. I hope to use my findings to increase awareness and understanding of the reality of life in a single parent family and believe it is important to speak to parents themselves to do this.
The study is part of my assessment for my final year project at the University of Sussex but is an area of research which I plan to continue being involved in when I have left University. I have been brought up within a single parent family myself and am aware of the time constraints you may have and so can travel to you or meet in a place that would be convenient for you.
Despite having no funding for this project being a third year university student, I would be more than happy to make a contribution of a £5 voucher of your choice or a coffee and a cake depending on where we meet. Thankyou! I have proposed to do face-to-face interviews for the project so am limited by what I have put in the proposal already. It would be great to find some local single parents in the Brighton/Sussex area that I would be happy to travel to, to meet and interview.

A little background just in case
My name is C and I am 29 with a 5 year old daughter have been a single mum for just over 2 years - was working full time up until November when I took voluntary redunancy and have become a stay at home mum. Whilst being on my own I had to have outpatient counselling and treatment for severe depression and bulimia whilst holding down my job and looking after my daughter.

Do all the participants have to be local to you (ie Sussex)? What about telephone interviews?
