This is a list of holiday information recommended by single parents for single parents.

Some are very low cost and affordable, others are more expensive this list is in no particular order regarding price or popularity.

Horton Women’s Holiday Centre: Payment is by a sliding scale according to income, where the lowest charge for one night, including food, will never exceed one day of benefit entitlement.

Mellor Country House: Low cost, self-catering & set in 3 acres of beautiful grounds. Snooker, play room, toys and games. Open March-October.

Magical Mersea Sea View Retreat: Low cost caravan, sleeps up to 8 on Mersea Island, Essex. Single parent owner makes holidays affordable, so you can relax and make magic memories.

Care for the Family: Low cost single parent holidays, 1-2-1 Challenge to build relationships and and multi activity breaks too. There is a limited bursary scheme.

Family Holiday Association: This charity provides holidays for low income families, who must be referred by a social worker, GP, etc. Send a large SAE for application form.

Country Holidays for City Kids: FREE holidays for emotionally and financially disadvantaged children aged 8-11yrs & 12-15yrs. You will need a referral.

Trusted Housesitters: Website looking for you to house sit in accommodation all around the world, you just pay the air fare and look after the house. Opportunities to pet sit too!

Single Parents on Holiday Ltd: Escorted holidays providing quality accommodation, activities and kids clubs without charging for two adults.

Small Families: Departures available for every school holiday giving you a chance for summer sun, winter sun, skiing, cruising or even meeting Santa.

Single Parent Travel Club: The aim of the club is to link single parent families together for days out, short breaks and holidays. NB: This is a Facebook group.

Youth Hostels Association (YHA): The Youth Hostels Association offers activities, special offers and fantastically low cost holidays at Youth Hostels across England and Wales.

Single with Kids: Breaks range from bunk barns to Mediterranean villas, tents to trips for toddlers, tipis to country houses. The breaks start at £10 a night through to luxury holiday.

The Mother’s Union: Away from it All Holidays (AFIA) is funded by the Mother’s Union, a Christian organisation, aiming to provide holidays for those experiencing times of stress.

Intervac International Home Exchange: Exchange your home with up to 30,000 families from all walks of life either in the UK or around the world.

Home Base Holidays: Enjoy FREE accommodation for a very economical way to travel. Explore new cultures whilst staying in a homely environment.

Hostelling Abroad: Membership of the Youth Hostel Association gives access to 5,000 Youth Hostels in 60 countries worldwide.

Happy Days Children’s Charity: You can apply for a family holiday if you have a child or children with special needs. These are one week holidays by the seaside or in the countryside, usually in the UK.

Tourism for All: Support and information for disabled people whose circumstances make access to holidays difficult.

Holiday Homes Trust: Affordable family holidays at popular holiday sites with specially adapted accommodation for people with special needs.

CCHF All About Kids: Offers breaks to children aged between 7-11 who have experienced violence, low self esteem, bullying, caring responsibilities or severe poverty.

Green World Holidays: Single-parent-aware adventure holidays.
