You're doing brilliantly HM with the slimming.

I rang the chemist, and he's assured me that the tablets are okay, despite C not being 12. Anyhow, me being me, decided not to give them, and have been out to get some more Nurofen.

Has been raining all day here, it's horrid.

Hi all, yes its raining here too hazeleyes, I am so glad it is the weekend though, I worked Saturday last weekend so I have been going strong for days on end it seems!

I am glad that you got some tablets that you feel are right for C and thank you sweaty yoga was FABulous!! Wink

happy mamma, well done you losing another pound, don't put it back on on Sunday will you!!

kiera, I hope your driving lesson went well. Have you looked at those tests online as suggested?

pq I have to say how frustrating it was to hear that your ex wouldn't help the kids with a present, especially how I had just been reading that his wages have almost doubled recently Foot in Mouth

OK, so NO-ONE answered my question about following One Space on Twitter? I am wondering if anyone uses Twitter at all, I have a friend who loves it and I am trying out new things with our Twitter account and I was going to ask you guys for some feedback!

Well I am off home now, phew long fortnight, I hope you all have a Happy Mothers Day and to all our dads, have a Happy Mothers Day too Smile

My daughter is away at the moment and although she says she has a present for me (eek!), I am still expecting either a card or an email!! OMG that has just reminded me, I am so busy thinking about myself, I have completely forgotten to send MY mum anything, oops!

Have a good weekend everyone see you next week Cool

Hope the play goes well pq.

I'm very excited about the kitten hazeleyes.  I really hope anti'bs soon kick in and C feels better.  Youngest started to have ibuprufen (as per GP) from age 8 because of his osgood shlatters, so hopefully C will be ok.  He used to take one adult capsule.

I couldn't set up the new router, and the old one will lower itself to work very now and then.  I've emailed someone from work today, as he helps us at work, and hoping he can sort us out here.  Flipping technology.  I could deal with it far easier before hitting my 50s Cool

Told them today that I won't be in over the weekend after all.  So much to do, but it can wait.

I'm off to bed in a moment!  Just making the most of internet.

I do hope everyone is ok.

C is still very throaty, didn't eat much at all yesterday. No temperature though, so that's good.

He's very excited about the kitten. The RSPCA is coming this morning, so not sure what the proceedure is once she's visited, but maybe we'll have the 'darling thing' by tomorrow. Shall let you all know. It's got to be better than a ruddy hamster thoughTongue Out

What's everyone up to today? No more group for you on a Saturday then Louise, though I'm sure you've other things to fill your day!

How did the play go Pq? Hope you all had a fab time.

Good morning one and all, how is everyone?

Hope the play was a big success, PQ.

Your Mother's day plans sound nice, HM, you need to ignore any remarks by your daughter who has taken umbrage at you and just get on with it. Hopefully she will come round before too long Kiss

Ooh Hazeleyes, the RSPCA visit, good luck for that, it is just routine to check your home is safe. Good that C's temerpature has gone down so hopefully the anti bs are taking effect

Sparkling I am glad to hear that you have ended up with one of the lovely cards from Scouts. How annoying about the router, fingers crossed you get it sorted.

Hopeful, are you abel to do any relaxing this weekend? I know you are busy with the next essay so maybe not

Kiera yes do have a go at the theory test online, see here when you can get hold of the laptop from your son's clutches! How is your boy doing with his paper round? I bet he is looking forward to the lighter mornings.

Anna, I have used Twitter in the past, but thinking about it, it could be a good way for One Space not only to send links to things for people who might need them, but more interestingly to send encouraging messages to people and tips and ideas Laughing Is this the plan?

No group for me this morning, feels strange, but eldest arrived yesterday teatime. I have been hearing all about his new job and he will start flat hunting soon as his house share runs out in June. We have had good fun looking at flats online, he was adamant that he didn't want a studio flat but there was one with a glass sliding door which hid he bed and he was rather taken with that. He has got to start putting money away towards a new bond now as he won't get his old one back till he leaves, of course.

Today youngest has gone to work, I hinted at posh coffee for me and eldest but I don't know if he has any plans (still asleep at the moment) It is very grey and mizzly here, hope everyone has a good day Laughing

Good morning all,

The play was really good. It was a year10 project towards a performing arts GCSE, A was used to make up the numbers in the background but she did a fab job. She's got to perform at the british Arts semi finals this morning, a group song and a drama solo, fingers crossed as she's never got to the finals before and is desparate to go. Her drama teacher thinks her solo is good enough so we'll see.

The kitten is almost a reality hazeleyes, I bet C is really excited. Do you know what it looks like yet?

I.T. at home is a nightmare sparkling, I can plug everyhthing together OK but if it doesn't work straight away I'm useless. I hope you get it sorted.

Have a busy day of being mum's taxi and then my friend is coming round later. Hope everyone else has a good day and can keep dry and warm x

Hmmm, the only things not safe (I think) would be all the wires. Then again, every household must have those!

If we're lucky enough to get the one we've seen on line pq, it is white, but the top of it is like a tabby colour. Very sweet looking, am hoping it has the same nature!! Blimey, I'm more nervous about this, than I was when I had C hehe.

Glad the play was a success.

Hope you get the posh coffee Louise. Was your son's visit unexpected, or was he due to come home yesterday?

So, the flat has passed with flying colours, but..... I now need to get in touch with council requesting a letter to say if I'm allowed pets. C is of course upset (can't do anything about this) If the council agree, the kitten he's seen, if still with the RSPCA, would either have been re-homed, but definately older than what we wanted!

She talked about cat-flaps, would the council even allow this. I pointed out, growing up and having a cat, we didn't have a cat-flap. Simply opened a blinking backdoor! Then she mentioned about putting a cat-flap in the shed door, so the cat would have somewhere to keep warm, in bad weather, when C and I weren't at home! No, I would leave the shed door open if need be. Next thing from her, 'what about the foxes?' Oh my days!!

If cat couldn't get out, it would claw at the nets, wallpaper etc.

The expense of the animal of course came up (which I have to say is a worry)

Perhaps I should have stuck with the hamster!!! NOOOOOOOOOO

Goldfish wouldn't satisfy C. Bird in cage, most definately wouldn't satisfy me (or C)

Guinea pigs in the garden. Hmmmm, will have to think on this one maybe

Oh Hazeleyes, that sounds more complicated than I thought. Surely a fox is just as likely to get through a catflap as a door (or are they too big? showing my ignorance here) You can still get a kitten off your own bat if that is what you want to do.

PQ another busy day for you, hope A does ok today.

Yes my son was expected but it was all a bit up in the air until Thursday really and I had to re-jig all the food. We did have a posh coffee, that was after he had been to Asda for some gym shorts and we had said Hiiiiiiiii to youngest through the fence to the Home Shopping bit. Happy Monday Morning! It sounds like Mothers Day was a success for all!

My daughter sent a text first thing, so all was forgiven with her and then I decided to go and take my mum out as I had completely forgotten to get anything in the post (she lives 1.5hrs away). Mum was thrilled and I felt better for making the effort!

Snow?! Shock horror! In March?! Oh no, I hope its not heading south, I am with you kiera, bring on the warm weather!

Hey Looby great to 'see' you, come and tell us how things are when you get a chance.

hazeleyes, I have a cat.....she was a kitten when we got her (she's 11 now) and your final comment about being expensive, is a very true one. The vets, the cat food, the worming tablets, the flea stuff and then not being able to go away for a couple of nights.....I love her to bits, but I do regret getting her, especially as my daughter is older! My daughter grew up, but the cat remains demanding of my time ie get home to feed her etc. I wanted to throw that into the mix anyway. I know C really wants one, but if you did decide against it, he would get over it. It would just be one of those things he always brings up when he is older 'oh that time you wouldn't let me have a cat!' Just food for thought. Don't do it for C, do it for you, you will be the one having to look after it perhaps up to 15-20 years.

kiera, good for your son getting a paper round and then buying you chocs, what a star!

sparkling, you were treated like the queen bee yesterday - as it should be!!

pq, how did the british arts semi finals go for your daughter yesterday?

Thank you to hazeleyes for the feedback on Twitter - anyone else? Yes Louise the idea is that daily our users can get a text/Tweet, with some interesting news, something relevant or simply a positive message to remind them that they are not alone, whilst they go about their daily lives :)

OMG, I am sooooooo cold!!

Hi everyone, had a lovely day yesterday. My girls both made me a card each, with lovely words inside and gave me a big bar of galaxy chocolate, yum yum! My friend stayed over on saturday so we all had sunday lunch together.

A's british arts went well, but she won't know what marks she got for a couple of weeks.

We got through the weekend without any bickering...yey!!!! I set the girls a 'challenge' louise, to see if they could get through sunday without any arguments. A had a bit of a strop late morning, but I just looked at her and said 'remember your challenge' and she managed to snap herself out of it.

Anna, I'm sure your mum was made up you made the effort to drive over to her and take her out for lunch. I think you'r right about having a cat, or any pet for that matter, they are an extra expence. My kitten is still giving me a headache with his antics. He charges around like a lunatic, flies through the catflap at speed (which he has now managed to break!), claws the carpet which has now got bear patches, its relentless. I love him to bits but he does add stress to my life!

Good afternoon. Hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day. I received flowers, box of chocolates, and a homemade card. All lovely.

Well, C is now the proud owner of a beautiful kitten. All quite sudden after the woman's visit on Saturday. Received a call later on that day, to see if we could pick her up the following morning. WHAT!! All became a reality, and I wasn't nearly ready (in my head) So much so, I had little sleep, waking at 3am, and not able to go back. Questions back and forth. Did C really want it? Would I break his heart if I said no, would I even be able to cope? These answers were a definate big fat YES. Next questions, would you be able to handle the litter? NO. Would I be able to afford? Not really, but worry about that at the time!!

So, a neighbour very kindly took us to look at the kitten, and I immediately went all googey, awwww. C is absolutely besotted with her, and she with him. In fact, she's like a dog, following him everywhere, even to the loo, hehe. At first she did hide, but was soon roaming around, and despite me saying, no sleeping on the bed, where was she? Yep. One thing I've kept to though, and that is, only is she in the kitchen when we're in there. Don't like the thought of her on work surfaces!!

Good morning all

Ooh Hazeleyes, C will be excited. I so could not have a pet (the goldfish was too much responsibility for me! and the boys did not even bother with that so that showed me that muggins would be looking after anything else we got) so I think you have been very generous-spirited to do this. Hope Smartie brings you lots of fun times Smile I wonder if the sleeping on the bed thing will go on, bet it will, they like to be somewhere warm.

PQ a challenge, I LIKE IT. That shows you are able to "step out" of the moment, I won't say rise above it as that is just very demanding but stepping out can just be temporary and therefore a bit more manageable for us. It also helps the child to step out of the moment, as you saw.

HM how are you? We are doing some work on a more regular One Space twitter service and hope you will follow us Wink How did your son's interview and exam go?

Sparkling what news from your house, are you feeling better?

Hopeful, kiera, looby, big hello to you.

Anna I am sure your mum was glad to see you. My eldest has gone back now, probably here again over Easter. We have had a significant amount of snow, I wish it would just Do One. We had another girl staying over on Saturday despite me specifically telling youngest not to do this. I have explained that if he has a regular girlfriend and I have met her and they are in a relationship then I have no problem with it but not any old bod, I said it is not respectful towards me, I said what if I was in the shower or in the loo and a strange girl was wandering around? I can't relax not knowing who he had brought home, what if they were a thief? I said if a girl's parents are happy with her sleeping wherever and with whomever then you can do that at HER house. I can't believe that these girls' parents just don't know where they are. I wish he would meet a NICE girl. Rant over Cool

I pointed out he had woken me up, he didn't really care, but said he'd call back with more info regarding the issue at 4:30. So he rang at 2:30 and woke me up again. I am fuming.

Not in a good place - might be the Tamoxifen, making me all depressed about all the worries - school/jobs for children, money for everyone, studies, placement, essays. Don't really want to dwell on it or I'll cry. :-( Not like me and if I keep feeling like this I'll stop taking the tablets.

Hello all. Louise, that was a good chat with your son. Hope he understood. When I read about the springs and your sofa, I thought you were going to say it was the result of the girls and your sonEmbarassed

Now the kitten is settled, I banned the creature from C's bedroom. I felt rather mean, but I do have my reasons. Cannot be dealing with the fur in all rooms. Anyhow, she has the living room, the hall, and the kitchen, BUT only when I'm here (the kitchen that is) C had decided that he wasn't comfortable with her being on his bed anyway, as she crept up to his pillow, and the thing of germs was brought up. He's in total agreement with me. However, my breathing hasn't been good, and C is constantly sneezing, so am wondering if it's to do with this sweet thing. Shall see anyway. Net curtains are surviving Sparkling. I'm training her well hehe

Sun is shining beautifully here, but we had flurries of snow this morning!

Oh dear hazeleyes, I hope you're not allergic!! I know people who are allergic but have got used to their own cat over time, I've read that hoovering every day to keep the hair down can help. Hi

just a quick one (im taking calls for comic relief friday night so popping into a quick meeting - very proud of myself - do it every 2 years when its on)

Can someone please let me know what the twitter name is for here I will have a look.

Sons interview went so well they offered him a place there and then - was really good we have a group meeting wher you had the one parent saying my son this my son that and how he was an A* student (before the presentation) and right at the start of the presentation the tutor told everybody that if your child wa a straight A or lower achiving child as long at they got 5 grade E they would get a plac and do maths and englist along side it and they would all start on level 1 - her face was a picture - my son is not a grade A student but works hard does ok but gives 11%

His exam for catering went amazing - he was worries as due to a major car accident that brought the surrounding area for 10miles to a stand still he made it. 3 hours later and 2 different soups, tariaki beef, spring rools, chicken chow mein, rice (sure i missed one) his tutor was really pleased and the passing maths teacher could not resist a sample he got the thumbs up - of Coconut dough balls (no idea never heard of them - somethng he created)

I really am a HAPPY MAMMA today

Bye for now HM x

Hello everyone. I am a newcomer and just exploring and reading all your posts. I have been single again since July last year and I have been finding life really hard work. I went back to work yesterday after being off sick with stress for 3 weeks. I have four kids, boy 25, boy 20 almost 21, daughter 19 and daughter 6. I also have two grand babies, well not babies age 7 and nearly 5.  This is the first time I have made the effort to face my past and try to deal with my emotional issues. You all sound like lovely hardworking parents, with lots going on. I have suffered a lot and that's the first time I have admitted that, have always put on the brave face and got on with things, but I am struggling now. I can't cry or release my feelings and now I know that it doesn't work. I wish I had found one space years ago, but hey, it's never too late! I love my job and am glad I am back at work, but I haven't slept much the last 3 days.

well, just about to wake up my little un and get the day started, and I feel better for having left this message. Hope everyone has a good day. Ta ta for now x

Good morning all

Hey Melsibob how fab to see you on this thread, I hope you will come in here regularly, we have do have a good laugh and talk over our day to day stuff (it's my favourite thread) and we can still support you on other threads at the same time. What sort of work do you do? Wow two grandchildren, bet they are the apple of your eye Laughing

HM, a massive well done to your son on his achievements and I am also very proud of YOU for your Comic Relief work, hope you raise loads and loads. Heh heh you will have a had a good old snigger at that woman at the interview, going on about the A* stuff Undecided

PQ, sparkling, kiera hope things are calm-ish with you three. Hazeleyes is the kitten behaving itself? Fingers crossed the sniffles will settle down. And Hopeful, thinking of you and hoping you have managed some sleep. When do you finish nights?

I chose a sofa, there was 20% off, hurrah, and it will be delivered in May. I really laughed at you thinking my son and the girls had made the springs go, Hazeleyes, that was great! My son is off to Newcastle today for the weekend and eldest will not be back till Easter so I have a few quiet days in prospect, gong out for a meal tomorrow night and I have a friend coming here later to help me with the gala planning.

Take care one and all Smile

I'm sure it will be strange having a few quiet days Louise, but sounds like you have a good weekend planned.  I'm sure you're looking forward to the new sofa coming.

Hi Melsibob Smile

Morning...oh no...its afternoon!

So busy at work today, quickly stuffing my lunch and thought I'd pop in briefly.

Helo Melsibob, nice to meet you Smile

Glad you got a deal on your sofa louise, shame you have to wait until May.

Sparkling, I hope the temporary venue suits you well, must be better than where you were??

Kiera, you are so good getting your washing out on the line, I've hardly step foot in my garden since the begining of winter.

Any one doing anything 'funny for money' tomorrow? I thought I might go to work in a red wig, but not sure it would go down too well!

Aww kiera, I am so sorry to read that your little girl is poorly, it is awful to see them like that and it is exhausting for us too! I think you said you had a girls night out tomorrow, I hope you get some rest tomorrow day, before you head out!

Hi pq - wear the wig, wear the wig, get people to give you money to take it off! I'm afraid we are not doing anything this year, although I am sure a contribution hat will go around the offices.

sparklinglime goodluck with your new venue Smile

Hi Melsibob and welcome to Chat from meee! Cool Always good to see a new face around the kitchen table! Wink Sounds like you have a lot of experience of toddlers, teens, grownup kids and all the inbetweens! I look forward to getting to know you.

Louise, great news that you found a sofa, twice over the years I have gone to buy one, but then when they say you have to wait 3 months (WHY??) I go off the idea, hence I still have a really old skanky one in my front room. I desperately want a white jumbo cord corner sofabed, but I can't one that I can afford and/or fit through my hallway and into my flat!!

I'm off to sweaty yoga soon! Just thought I share that with all you squeamish types! I can't wait Embarassed Cry (Thats me being hot and sweaty!)

Melsibob

Hi all, thanks for the kind welcome. I will confess from the off that I have a terrible memory for names but I will get them in the end.  Another good day at work, trying hard to take one day at a time and to try to stay in the here and now.  I am a support officer for a funding dept in the NHS. I have just had to apply for my own job again, second time in two years. That happens a lot in the NHS and I managed to keep my job, so that's one thing crossed off my very long list of things to do!

Tonite has been so lovely and peaceful, just me n the kids, bit of telly, now off to bed, dare I say it, feeling quite happy, yay!

Nite all and big thanks for your support. I hope you all have a good day tomorrow x
