Hello and welcome to the May thread! (it doesn't look like May outside )
Sparkling, things were bound to be difficult, the time between a death and the funeral is one of the most stressful time, I am so glad that your new colleague is being supportive and we are all thinking of you.
Hopeful, one thing I can say from my own experience is that the more presentations you do, the easier it gets. Speak slowly, know your topic and make eye contact with the audience, those are my tips to pass on,
How is everyone doing today?
Enjoy the aerobics Hopeful.
I am really tired after four counselling clients in a row....time for a cuppa I think
A rubbish day for me. Teacher was in a foul mood, kids were like devils, and I was working all day. Stinking headache since lunchtime. C came out, the bully was really at him today, and apparantely the teacher had called the Mother in. This is all great, but I think they should also have informed me of what had happened. The teacher apologised to C, and I disagree with this. The boy should have been made to apologise. Am not in good place with school at the moment. Tomorrow is another day.
xxx
Good morning all.
Am determined to win against the inner pigdog today. Have to start on that new presentation. My reward will be a friend coming over for lunch.
Hope you enjoyed your tea, Louise, I had one as I walked in the door from the aerobics (which wasn't half as hard as I thought) with a piece of freshly made chocolate cake (just to defeat the point of all the exercise, ha!). My daughter is brilliant when she hasn't got a hormonal teenage moment!
Sparkling, still thinking of you loads. Wishing you a really peaceful day.
Hazeleyes, ditto. You deserve a day full of really compliant children and totally void of bullies.
LRH, hope you're feeling much better today, too.
Everybody else - enjoy what you're doing - even if you have to make a conscious decision that you will enjoy it! Was my tip for the day, so I'm trying!
Good tip of the day, Hopeful! Hope the presentation prep goes well.
Oh Hazeleyes some days are just the pits. It's a mystery to me how they deal with (or should I say don't deal with) this boy. Hoping for a better day today.
Sparkling the week moves on and we are right with you
LRH how are you today?
Not a bad day today. Brought C home with me at lunchtime as he has dental appointment. Was flabberghasted that his teacher still didn't approach me, I know from C that the boy has gone unpunished as he didn't have to miss a break this morning. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, 'I just don't get it'. No school tomorrow, as they using the school for polling day. Have written a draft for the review, and asked my teacher to look at it with me next week. I still have to add a few things to it. Anyhow, he said we'd sit down and go through it, along with the other TA, as he also will have things to add. The boy's mother is rather challenging, and I disagree with a lot of things she is saying about her son, with regards to reading, but this is something I shall share with the teacher, as it's not down to me surely to bring it up in the meeting? I'll have to take that relaxing stuff I took when I had the interview, and start banging my head on the table again!!! (Hope that has made you smile a bit Sparkling)
That was a good tip Hopeful, for the day. Needed that for yesterday
How's your week going Louise? Busy as usual no doubt. Any posh coffees??
Sparkling, I'm thinking of you all, and hoping tomorrow will go as well as it can do on these occassions. Hugs to you all. xxxx
lrh, hope you're okay.
Sounds like you overdid things at the weekend Anna, hope you're feeling better as the week is going on.
Hi all!
So concentrated on uni that I put in my login for there in for here. Major confusion!
Raining cats and dogs here (at list not little old ladies and their sticks as I believe they say in Welsh!). Really busy day today at uni. No2 son has an AS test today.
Sparkling: big hug to you and your family. xxx
Have a good day everyone! x
Thanks everyone - still struggling but am thinking of sparkling today so don't want to post about my troubles - will catch up with everyone another day - hugs and thoughts today sparkling
lrh, you post please. That is why I started a seperate thread really, as knowing how everyone is on here matters...
I just can't believe how tired I feel even though, once I nodded off, I slept ok.
It's meant to be a nice day here, although the sun is struggling at the mo.
I do hope the sun shines for you all Sparkling. Well, maybe a drop of rain on the Git's head only!!!
Sadly h, I'm thrilled that the step-family side a livid. **meow**
Hope everyone is Ok today, thinking of sparkling.
LRH please just offload if it will help.
Hazeleyes a day off for you woo-hoo. Any plans?
Hopeful did you get sorted? Good luck to your son
My plans Louise? Well, I have the vacuum bags, so I'm going to sort through the airing cupboard, and get some single duvets and sheets packed away. Then I'm going through the wall cupboard in my room, and see how I can make some more space. Have lots of letters from rent/tax etc lying around, which seem to collect once a fortnight, so they really need 'throwing' somewhere. I have an awful lot to get through, and not enough hours in the day really. The alternative is just to relax with C on the WII games (I won't, I promise) First things first, cup of tea hehe.
I know what Sparkling (sadly) is up to today, what's everyone else doing?
The weather isn't great here, dull and dreary.
Yes, sparkling is very much in my thoughts.
Decluttering, hazleyes, to me it feels like a never ending job. Although now I have finally finished my bedroom I have to say it is a charming surprise to open my wardrobe, and there is a shelf with things on it IN NEAT PILES. I have got two underbed drawers that help a lot for that stuff that I just don't know how to cope with! One of the hardest things I ever did was to get rid of so many books. I had about five hundred, and donated about four hundred to a the local Theatre for a fundraising sale.It made a lot of room though!
Do you want to come over and do mine Louise. It's worse in here now than before I started (How can this be?) I emptied the entire wall cupboard, it looked luvvvvvly, then I got cracking on other stuff, and now the wall cupboard is full again I haven't stopped all day, back is breaking from moving furniture. C is now moved back in biggest bedroom, which is good to be honest, as he has a lot of stuff! I need a bigger stepladder as I cannot reach the loft ladder on a normal chair, without really straining. Christmas trees and decs are in the wall cupboard, and really shouldn't be. If I could put shelves in there, it would be bliss, then a door or something to hide it all away. Recycling bin was emptied yesterday, and it is choc a block again! Oh well, I've made a start I guess. Shall do some more on Saturday, and defiantely have Sunday and Monday of doing zilch.
Not looking forward to school tomorrow. They have swimming, and the kids are an absolute nightmare when normal teacher isn't around. They're bad enough with him, but 20 times worse without!!
I'm sure your bedroom looks lovely Louise, you worked hard on that
Sunglasses so you can't the stuff everywhere.
Paracetamol tomorrow. Done!
What a busy day! Was thinking of you though, Sparkling. Hugs again.
Had lecture (with other group, really annoying as it makes the groups too big, but a lecturer is off sick) - all about leadership & management (bring that on!) and transision into practice (scary). Then met with the group I do the presentations with, got sorted who does that, then met with personal tutor to help decide on a subject for my disertation - now that IS scary. Shall be writing about teamwork and the importance of good leadership (I'm good at leadership, just can't seem to lead the children effectively).
No2 son says exams was ok. Can't get more out of him.
No3 son was told yesterday he won't be able to go to college in September (don't know why; it's not his grades I'm sure), so tomorrow when I have no uni I'll ring connexions and set up an appointment with someone for advice. No3 son said he'd go to that after I said they'd know about ALL the possibilities that are open to him and there definitely would BE possibilities for him.
Daughter made cake for uni friend who's having her birthday on Sunday. That went down well.....
Going to see other friends now - why is everything always on the same day?
Everyone have a really relaxed & peaceful evening! x
Wow that was a busy day Hopeful.
Hope everyone is ok today.
Hazeleyes, I watched a programme last night about the ultimate decluttering, there was a man whose house was full of stuff from floor to ceiling, he could use his loo and kettle (the kettle was on top of the loo ) and there was one chair he could get to. He had a few cats and they had used boxes all over the stack of stuff as toilets and you could not even get in most of the rooms. he was given help to get it all sorted and had to have psychotherapy too. So, what I am saying is that one or two scruffy cupboards are not at all worrying!!!!
Wow Louise
That makes me feel better about my house now, I can leave the declutteringI until later then!!
Actually I am at mo Parked outside of work waiting for someone top open office door. Trying to think what to buy my friend for her 50th, if is her party tomorrow and I have no idea!!! Do you or anyone else have any suggestions? I have bought a sweetie tree with liquish all sorts on for the party but am clueless as to what to buy her. I am hopeless!
Good morning!
Christian, it depends of course how much you want to spend, but maybe a lunch or even a trip to the theatre (don't know where you are, but it doesn't have to be the Westend)? Then she has a memory which will be much nicer than just 'stuff'.
Hazeleyes/Louise: the people who decluttered that house, did they get therapy, too? And can you send them my way?
Sparkling, hope you are ok today and your little people, too!
LRH, sending you lots of positive thoughts and optimism.
Going to do some research now, to see what I'll write about in my disertation. Sigh.
Hi everyone
Just popping into the Chit Chat room to say hello and happy bank holiday weekend to one and all.
Christian - what about a Groupon massage? About £15 - £20. Or decent notebook and pen? £10 total. Or a funky coloured nail varnish or jewelery? £5
let us know what you decide on, I hope you enjoy the party :)
Happy research hopeful I hope you had a productive day.
I got taken out to lunch by boss, along with 'new' girl, which was nice. Mainly because we work hard and get no overtime! Also, we've won a bit of a contract. Fingers crossed we get a bit more of it.
how nice sparkling
thanks for positive thought Hopeful
not a long weekend here where I live but anyway hope everyone else has a good time
I should have a good day with the kids tomorrow and then when that is over its onto the Rescue Remedy to get through the competition on Sunday!
Enjoy the weekend everyone
Sixteen year old had the end of school ball today.
I have tears streaming down my face as know it's another chapter ending.
He has had a wonderful afternoon, and I'm so glad for him. I know my daughter still talks about hers...
Come September, youngest will the only one in school. I know he'll miss his sister and brother.
Awww Sparkling, hope you're okay. Such an emotional week for you all round. I'm so pleased that C has had a great time this afternoon, and like S, he will be talking about the ball in years to come. Tomorrow I shall be back here telling a story that happened last night, about bid tv, but now I'm shattered. Have been on phone for 3 hours The story will make you laugh I'm sure
Hello to everyone. Good day here. After school C went for his swimming lessons, then we headed into Morrissons. Hope you're all well, and have had a good day, and looking forward to the long weekend, yippeeee.
Three hours on the phone??? Blimey! No wonder you're tired...
I'm glad C enjoyed the swimming today.
Just got around to having some Rice Krispies for tea. The evening seems to have flown by.
Yep, time flies when you're having fun.
I'm desperately trying to keep eyes open, but have to give in and go to bed I think.
Don't even know what I find to talk about for three hours, but friend and I can talk for England!!
I had an early night. Watched Glee on the laptop with daughter and then nodded off.
Woke up at 1.20am and then have watched various shopping channels during the night.
I've not ordered anything though.
Mind you watching Create and Craft now and they're got a little cup cake maker. It only makes teeny ones though and 7 at a time. No good in this household. Perhaps when they've all left...
Oh yes, sparkling, then you will have a silver platter with a doily on it!! Aww I am glad C's ball went well, yes big changes afoot. Nice that you had a lunch out.
hazeleyes what is all this about the shopping channel? Do tell.....
LRH try to enjoy your day, despite You Know What
Hopeful what progress to report?
Christian, did you choose a gift?
What is everyone up to today? We had a dusting of snow on the car first thing Youngest is sick of current job (they have drafted in a load of new ones at a lower wage, would you believe!) so has been applying for things. He is at one interview now and has another on Tuesday so I will keep you posted. He leaves college in about 7 weeks so will be available fulltime then, although might have to patch two part time things together.
Am wishing him lots of luck Louise. It's horrid when you're in a job and you're sick and tired of it isn't it? Snow?? Are you positive, crikey!!
The shopping channel. Well, I fell asleep on Thursday night with the TV on. Woke up, and flicked through channels, stopped at Bid TV, and saw what I'd had my eye on for a while. A Halogen Oven (thought my cooking might taste tastier in one) I'm blissfully watching them cooking on the tv, then I'm reaching for my mobile to order one, ignoring the tv at this point, as it was turned down. Punched in my pin number, and there's a voice congratulating me on purchasing an egg something or other!!!!!!!! What??? Looked at the tv screen, and they are now selling this egg thingy, which i'm soon to be a proud owner of! I'd obviously fallen asleep when watching the halogen oven, thought I was buying it, and whoops. C thought it was hilarious in the morning when I told him. Apparantely it cooks poached eggs, omelettes, even cakes. Not quite what I had in mind, and bearing in mind also, neither C nor I even like omelettes (but we will in this contraption) what a numpty I am
Haha hazeleyes, just the sort of thing I would do, am always in the market for forty winks , if the worst happens and you don't like your new purchase then I know someone who REALLY LIKES OMELETTES (cryptic clue: initials SL )
Hahahahaha!!
Can beat a good omelette
I'm sure it will make excellent cakes h...
Ha ha, Hazeleyes - I don't even watch the shopping channel, and now I know why!
Almost productive day today: Daughter made lots of cake (why I don't know...) we went into town and got her a new shopping bag. Made a birthday card for a friend (only because she always does - I never bother, but I thought just this once) which meant I spent more mother/daughter time. Went to take something up to a friend, ended up staying for a round of cards. Have cleared up my room, apart from the filing and the phonecall stuff, but it's sorted and I know what I have to do. It only needs dusting and hoovering now.
Hope everyone is ok! :-)
A very productive day Hopeful. Well done on clearing the room up. I'm right behind you with the dusting and hoovering, but can we do it tomorrow please I'm too tired tonight!
I've gone through lots of old letters, forms etc, and C shredded them. Louise, you'd be soooo proud, or possibly shocked!! I ended up with two carrier bags of shredded paper, and I still have another possible two or three bags
Not even had dinner yet. C and I have done nothing but nibble on rubbish really, and neither of us are hungry.
I had an....
omelette for tea :-))
Kitchen is almost sparking, although the pile on my desk seems to be getting higher. Mainly because I have got photo albums out and looking at pics again with this lot.
You've both done well
Haha! I smell an omelette! Seriously, sparkling, are you good at cooking them? MIne often sort of collapse. What filling do you have? There will be some reminiscing in the coming weeks, with the old photos no doubt.
Hopeful, a clean bedroom, quality time with your daughter AND some time with your friend. Sounds fab, and no pigdog
Hazleyes you are indeed a star with your endeavours. Don't tell C you could have used the shredded paper for hamster bedding But I hope today will be an easier day for you. I now how two horrendous cupboards in my house, one in eldest's bedroom and one is STILL the lower half of the cupboard downstairs I call my office, I wonder if Bank Holiday Monday could be the day of doom for one of them?
Youngest thought job interview went quite well. The vacancy is for 12-15 hours. He also has an Asda interview on Tuesday and will go for that, for preference, as there is more chance of more work after he leaves college. The job is to prepare orders for the Home Shopping service, I have warned him that as deliveries start at 7am he may well have some 5am shifts
Hope everyone will have a decent day. LRH, am thinking of you
5am??? Oh my goodness Louise, you can't let your poor boy do that surely Think of the winter mornings, cold, snow. My heart is breaking already thinking of him trudging along!!! Perhaps the trick would be plenty of hot porridge inside him, cooked by MUM
Hehe Sparkling, before I read that, I just knew you were going to say omelette. You'll all be laughing your socks off when my wonder machine comes, and I'll have the best omelettes going
On the agenda today, the living room is to be dusted, and hopefully the ironing. I wish there was somewhere to take C, but there isn't. Times like this, where you imagine other 'families' getting together and having a fun filled day. I know of course that I can make it fun for C just by playing, even on the WII, but that normally means I'm neglecting doing something in the flat (again), so it never seems to get completely done. Hmmmm, will have a think on this one. C won't be this age forever, where he wants me to play with him, so I guess that answers it. Fun day it is, or half a fun day anyway!
Hope you all have a good day. xx
Black clouds over head - and that was after they forecasted a dry weekend. On my list I have see the District Sec (the District Commissioner as resigned with immediate effect as she's had promotion, living Scouting in a doo-doo mess really), cut grass, see MiL, see neighbour, hoover
I can see that the grass is just going to have to get longer. It's the BBCs fault though!
I usually have a plain omelette. I like to have them well cooked though, rather than squidgy in the middle. And they go flat as soon as they're out the pan. With three of my children (youngest won't touch them) I put ham, or cheese, or both, or veg in. My daughter and I quite enjoy fried onions and then pour the egg mixture over them. Yum! That's not healthy though...
I've made progress here Cleaned through and de-cluttered the unit in the living room. Bit emotional really as the things belonged to my Mum, just videos etc, but still...... I know she would be clapping like crazy, but still it's sentimental I know. Once I'm dressed, I shall retrieve C's old buggy, haul this huge heavy bag on it, and take it round the corner to the big bins! My Mum wouldn't be clapping on this, she'd be tutting, as the big bins actually belong to the people that live in the big block of flats. Ssshhh, I won't tell if you don't
C has very kindly made me a crisp sandwich, not healthy, but nice!
Done enough for today, ironing can wait till tomorrow maybe.
Dreary looking day here too, but no sign of rain yeahhhhhh
Change of plan, having a PJ afternoon, so not dumping the stuff today Am cream crackered (am I allowed to say this?)
You have done well. I'm not sure if you are allowed to say cream crackered. However, that has made me think of how much more I prefer Ritz. I now want Rits.
Grass has more or less been cut between me and daughter. Needs to be strimmered, but we are having showers, so I don't feel guilt leaving it.
Daughter also hoovered stairs, I need to hoover the hallway.
Have been to see neighbour and offered to take her to Asda in the morning.
Have made progress with Scouty crisis. It's still a crisis, but its being acted on.
About to phone MiL to see if I can call round.
If you called into see MIL, I hope you found her okay Sparkling. The weeks after the funeral seem to be the hardest, when everyone seems to drift away, thinking you're 'over it'. You're very good doing the grass. Mine has mushrooms growing in it, like a half circle shape. I'm enjoying watching them grow
Deciding what is wrong with me. I've not had a dinner since Thursday, and don't feel in the least bit like eating. I'm not ill or anything, and of course I'm making sure C eats, but me? No. I did have a crisp sandwich at lunchtime followed by a chocolate mousse, but that's it. Might have to google that in a mo hehe. I'm definately shattered though, so maybe that could be the cause, also the cause of me feeling so tired could be a symptom of not eating properly. Can't win can I?
I agree. You need to have a proper meal.
I have a suggestion, but then I'm sure you can guess what it is! Cheese omellette with salad and tomatoes. I know I have to make myself eat at times. Crisps won't be giving you a boost, I'm afraid.
Can't cook the omelette without my fancy gadget Sparkling, plus there's the problem of me not even liking them (I will with the machine!!) Have got tomatoes, so might nibble on those, even though I don't really want too. I'm promising myself a lie in tomorrow, though I'm sure I've been promising myself the same thing since Friday evening Last day tomorrow, so really have got to make the most of it. How does a long weekend go so weekly?
I know.
Had promised myself a lie in tomorrow, but have offered to take neighbour to asda for 11am. So I've blown my own lie in!!
Good morning all you lucky people that can have a lie in (sort of!) for the bank holiday - please think of those of us who are up and going to work today - grrr!
Feeling a bit lighter in myself today as I know I got through the day yesterday and nothing bad happened
Wishing you all a happy day
Bye for now my friends!
Awww lrh, don't worry, I shall be joining you in the classroom tomorrow! Hope you have a good day, and I'm really pleased you got through yesterday.
Contrary to what lrh thinks, not everyone is having a lie-in C of course is still snoring his head off, but I was laying there for ages, so decided to make a cup of tea and get up. Tomorrow I'll be cursing myself for missing out on the opportunity.
Beautiful sunny day here, not sue if it's cold or not though What's everyone up too today?
lol! hazeleyes - enjoy your tea!
I don't really mind presentations, just these are like case studies and we don't want to kill our patient!
Apart from this mornings little No3 son episode I've had a really good day. Doing only bits in the morning, meeting in the afternoon, then friend brought all the ironing she'd done for me and blitzed my front room. Also talked me into going to aerobics with her tonight, so I'm off to there now.
Sending lots of love to all. Especially Sparkling!
