Ah I can hear your mellifluous tones from here, sparkling Wink

Good morning all, I have missed you too. Had a lovely break though. I think I was the youngest there, I sung my heart out. Palled up with another lady and we went off into Whitby together one day. On the last evening we did a little concert for the others in the house (there was a group of walkers and a group of folk dancers!) There were eight of us singing, two men and six ladies. I ended up singing the tenor parts in everything Laughing The concert was: Doh a deer, Gaudete (who remembers that from Steeleye Span?), a four part setting of my grandfathers clock and a comic patter song from Flanders and Swann. The teacher was fab, and the foood was nice too. I will definitely see if I can go again next year, maybe to a different venue.

Son did very well on his own for a few days. He had friends round on the Saturday night. When I arrived home the house was extremely hoovered and all the cushions arranged in symmetrical fashion. However, I found two beer bottle tops under the settee Smile He enjoyed the cooking he did and has started his new job at Asda, which is going well.

Anna has a week off now so won't be around for a few days, hope she has a good break and some sunshine.

So...how are you all? Hazeleyes, how absolutely horrendous about the squirrel. It's all about coping with the anxiety that has arisen now. How are you feeling? Glad you sorted out the review.

Hopeful it sounds as if it has been a hard week for you what with one thing and another. I hope your weekend will go well.

LRH I see you have posted on your thread so I will chat to you properly there. Any plans today?

Sparkling, that is sad about MiL's plan to move, but I know you will still keep in touch. Have things settled down with the Scouty crisis?

Hope everyone will have a good day Wink Porridge for me now, and then to read more posts!

Scouty crisis.  I have been the third person the area district commissioner has approached.  He sent a job description with 17 points on it.  Have told him I can do 9 which might help encourage one of the first two to take on the role.  I've said I won't!

Meeting him on Monday evening before the district AGM to discuss.  I will be sticking to the NO as a reply.

Have been busy here cleaning, and have even scrubbed my hall way carpet. Not sure if it's made much dfference to be honest, but it really was disgusting. I'm really in need of a professional carpet cleaner, so might check out the prices. Not that I'll be doing anything about it for months yet, but no harm in researching I guess. I should hear in June, if I am needed in September for school. I was hoping for a holiday somewhere this year, but realistically I still couldn't afford anything, as I'm paying the catalogue off, and don't want to get into any sort of debt just to go away. Yes, my life has changed since starting work, but not drastically, moneywise or socially wise.

Hi all,

sorry for replying late - I managed to blow up my laptop charger on Thursday - big sigh - ordered a new one, but borrowing somebody else's for now. So unfortunately am behind with assignments and disertation research and all that. Late night tonight and tomorrow me thinks.

Appointment is on Thursday morning. Radiographer friend is coming with me. Saw GP as well in the week and he said he'd be surprised if this is something nasty. So I am not so bad in myself.

No3 son went go-carting because of his brilliant attendance at school and won all the races. He's asked me if he could become a member at the racetrack, and if I can afford that I'll let him. Finally an interest!

No2 son in AS levels. Daughter out with friends. I'm off to do some signing - exam for that is on Wednesday.

So much to do!!!! Can we have 36 hour days, please???

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend!

The Queen doesn't sing the National Anthem because we sing it to her.

I bet she really has to stop herself joining in though.

Hi happy mamma, many thanks for that. I am sure you will have plenty of tips to pass onto others! Can I suggest you do so in the spirit of one parent helping another rather than in your professional capacity? The reason I am saying that is that our rules and regs include this bit:

15.    For legal reasons, members are asked not to post messages which offer advice from a professional point of view or in an official capacity (eg Solicitors, midwives etc). Anyone who works/has previously worked as a professional and wishes to post advice on our boards should bear the following rules in mind:
a.    Any advice given should be given with the primary intention of providing advice from a personal, not a professional point of view. Advice should be posted on the boards so that everyone using our boards will have the benefit of your advice.
d.    It should also be noted that our boards are publicly viewable and you may be held legally accountable for any advice however well-intentioned, which could result in harm or injury to another person. In particular, members may be held liable for any defamatory comments, threats and untrue statements or other illegal and fraudulent claims made by them.

Obviously we have to have these rules to cover everyone, however convoluted they appear. So we can all benefit from your wisdom Smile and I will look forward to that!

Hello one and all

Nice to see you in the chat section, happy mamma and hope you will become a regular visitor!

Sparkling lime you really made me laugh about the National Anthem, especially that person replying to you on Facebook. Whilst I was on hol I bought two giant Jubilee flags and a row of bunting. I feel I am now fully equipped to embarrass youngest when I "decorate" the outside of the house next weekend Cool

Anyway I am glad you have made up your mind to the NO. You are being mightily helpful offering to take on so many points. How's the essay?

How are you today, Hazeleyes? When you were saying about the carpet cleaner do you mean hire a machine or get someone in? The trouble is that it is hard to get the machine moved unless you find a friend with a car. I honestly think that when you have had some time on Income Support, even if you suddenly get a bit more money when working, it takes a heck of a long time to get on an even keel, what with debts and repairs/replacements you didn't do before. I think it took me about a year (that was when I was married)

Hopeful glad you got your appointment through. Of course the GP has to err on the side of caution (much better that way than tell you it is Ok without you having any tests!) We will all be thinking of you, that is for SURE. Boo re your laptop charger, that is not helpful when you have so much to do. Hooray re your son, how fantastic that he has found something he loves Smile and you can encourage him in that.

LRH how are you today? I hope that everything that is going on hasn't marred your weekend too much.

Over the hols I decluttered eldest's room including the hellish cupboard. Four black bags to the charity shop and another four to the tip. I also got a plastic box and tidied my kitchen cupboards, all the tupperware stuff is now tidy Innocent Today I am catching up on work, including my Ask The Expert emails.

Hope everyone will have a good day

Good morning all. Hopeful, I shall be thinking of you on Thursday. I'm pleased you have someone going with you, and also that you have spoken to your GP again. Mine also told me the same thing, and me being me, questioned him on how he could tell if something was serious or not. He really did explain things to me, so I also came away feeling more reassured.

Louise, amazing how much we can de-clutter, when we've not long done it beforehand isn't it? Well done on doing the hellish cupboard. If you're anything like me, there'll be another sort out in the hellish cupboard in another few months, hehe. Hope you manage to catch up with your work today.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't get out of bed until 10.30. I had woken earlier at 6, but went back to sleep about 7. I obviously needed the sleep too, so although it makes the day shorter, I don't give a hoot!! I'd promised C that I would watch a DVD of Harry Potter last night, and I managed a bit of it, before falling asleep during it Surprised I really have felt shattered these last few weeks. He is hoping to go to my sisters in the holidays for a few days. This has been suggested by her, but it has been before and then he is let down. Anyway, he is on about it this morning, so I have said, I need to ask my friend (ex head) if she would be able to take me there for a day, so he's not there for a whole week. I'm hoping if he goes to get my kitchen floor done, (if I can get it that is).

Louise, yes I was talking about the professional cleaner to come in. The one you're talking about (I think) I've been told the actual cleaning solutions cost a bomb, and then of course the charge for the cleaner itself. I do keep looking at a VAX one costing £100, advertised on Tv, but without recommendatons, I don't think I could warrant buying one, only to find out they don't actually remove years of stains!!!

Hope everyone has a good day. Sun is no where to be seen here Frown

I used to have the carpet cleaned quite regularly in the private let I had.  The chap had laid new carpets through out, so I felt obliged to keep them clean.  Going back a few years now (about 7 years), and he would charge £50 for the ground floor - living room, dining area, front hallway, rear hallway and bedroom...

This is Anglesey though... I could never have cleaned them as he did.

Sat watching Harry Potter now, well I am sort of!!! C has made his own sandwich for tea, and as he was sorting that, I had nice bath and hairwash. Think we're all done for tomorrow, and this film should finish in time for me to get cosy in bed for Desperate Housewives. Perfect end to a good day.

Well done Louise on clearing the backlog. Can't be helped though when you've had a holiday, but all done now.

Hey Sparkling, how's your day been? Good I hope.

I've had a good day, tiring but good. Came home, and typed out the review. Shall show it to boss tomorrow, am sure she'll find flaws in it, or I'll need to add more, but I've tried, and that is the main thing. Not long had dinner, so am sitting down for a bit, before I get the washing out of the machine, then I'm off to bed to watch TV all tucked up. It's been a funny day weather wise. Chilly, but when the sun decided to shine at 3.30 it was warm. Supposed to be really nice tomorrow, but shan't hold my breath.

Hope you all have a good evening, and enjoy your day tomorrow.

Don't know what to say to children - have postponed that till I know what's what next week.

Hi Hopeful,

I am so sorry to hear that you still have no definite answer. Of course then if you need treatment then that is top priority. The comforting news (at least I hope it is comforting for you) is that treatments are SOOOOO effective that the wheels willl go into motion to zap it good and proper with all guns blazing. And I DO feel sure you will be OK. One of the really hard things is the time it takes for the treatment to take place and to feel better and I know that is something you are really dreading....but if it means you being off, then so be it. you are the most important consideration now.

I agree with you about not telling the children till you really know where you are batting. Once they have the biopsy results they will be able to tell you a treatment plan. Thank heavens you went to the doctor so quickly.I hope you know that you have the full support of all of us and we will hold your hand through any treatment you might need.

Can you get a good rest this evening? (hmm silly question) Big Hug, of course.

Aw, lrh, just because I have a problem does - unfortunately - not mean yours suddenly stop! Hugs to you!

Louise, I think from how the doctor was, she's pretty sure this is nasty. But we are relatively close to the summer holidays, so I am hoping that I won't have to interrupt studying (I'd hate that!!!) There's a placement coming up end of  June for four weeks and I could do that in the holidays instead, or maybe they'd let me do it in consolidation time if I had to. See, I'm planning already! :-)

But now I know why I've been so tired all the time - any tips on keeping up energy levels will be greatly appreciated! Going out now to meet with some friends. No stress, I promise.

Thanks all for your support! x

You are very welcome. If you need surgery then this could well be in the holidays and I guess then it is whether you need other treatments.
