Am rubbsh, No3 son getting to me, will put my rant on other thread. :-(
Positives: Uni friend coming over to prepare presentation, daughter and I going to town later - have asked No1 son if he wants to come for a bit, but no answer yet.
Wishng everyone a lovely day! x
Have to say that I've been up for ages sorting through clothes...
Good morning :-)
Cannot gloat about grass being cut, so will continue to watch the mushrooms growing, and maybe forming a full circle
I can however gloat about getting things sorted in here. Am wearing my hat with 'proud of myself' on!! I have tackled all of the ironing, put it all away. Sorted out clothes for charity. Prepared the dinner, so now I can spend some time doing what C wants to do. At the moment, he is tackling the last of his homework, which won't take long, so that leaves me some time to myself Have to say I'm delighted with my progress. Gloat over.
You've been sorting too Sparkling, well done
Louise, you will get your well done when you've tackled that cupboard
Hopeful, I'm sorry that you're having a rough ride again with no 3 son. Have answered in your thread. x
Rewind back to previous post about me playing something with C this afternoon. Unless his attitude changes, then he won't get anytime with me. He's on a warning, so will wait and see. Maybe I'm wrong here, but he's rushed his homework in order to do something relating to Harry Potter!! I've just checked it, and some has been missed, some spellings which have to go in a sentence, aren't the correct spellings for that particular sentence, which he knows full well. For example, Dears can be found in the forest! I went through it with him, he snatched the book from me, said I was never satisfied!!! I'll give him never satisfied.
Ooh Hazeleyes, stay calm and do a "first then"..."First you must do your homework to a proper standard and THEN we can...." Well done on your massive achievements, you have done a great job. Am not doing cupboard today ()
Good on yer, sparkling.
Sorry to hear things are difficult, Hopeful, teens can be so.............(better not say!)
So can 9 year olds hehe.
All going great here again. Back on the right track (thankfully). His homework is done (properly), apologised to me (without me asking for one). Not sure what did it really, the first and then method or the ignoring, or even the threat of me not playing a game.
I'm going to say this anyway..... Well done for not clearing out the cupboard. You deserve some 'you' time. Hope you're having a lovely afternoon.
Back to the kitchen, dishes are shouting at me
Hoovered the edges here. My lot don't seem to understand how to take the hose off the vacuum and do the edges. Grateful really that they do the middle, to be fair!!
Family meeting here tonight if the 20 year old comes back after work like he's been told too. Affecting us all now.
Did I mention that the district commissioner resigned with immediate effect on Thursday? I happen to be the deputy dc, so me and the secretary have had a meeting yesterday morning, phone calls today and me sending emails too. AGM in two weeks, and we've no idea where things are at. Can't beat a challenge.
Really, I need a granny nap.
Good luck with the family meeting, sparkling. And with the Scouty problem!
Well done Hazeleyes, got him sorted. I have watched a film this afternoon
Hope the family meeting goes okay Sparkling. Could you be looking at a new challenge with that?
Was it a film on tv Louise, or a DVD?
C is most disappointed as he read his tv mag, and has seen that Corrie is on at 9pm all this week. This of course means he'd be later going to sleep. I'd say by about half hour. Now wondering if this was the reason behind his apology etc. Hmmmmmm. We've had a few games of racing on the WII, and now he's cutting paper up and pinning to them to his board. Bang goes all that hard work I've done in the flat Will smile sweetly as I remind him to pick all the bits up later
Glad C has been nice. As soon as they want something.... :-)
We've had a very pleasant evening. Watched a couple of films. Have been chatting, not that it got me anywhere. Not often the five of us sit in the same room (well, six if you count farty bum dog).
Back to emailing before bed.
As for a new challenge, it will be a no. Don't mind doing bits and pieces, but I don't want that Just hope there is someone who'll enjoy it.
Ha ha, Hazeleyes, the story about the dears found in a forest made me think of years ago when I took a friend's little girl (4) for a walk and she said to me 'Don't you agree, Hopeful, if we find a deer that's tied to a tree, we'll take it home!' Of course I agreed to that....
Am very jealous of everyone being so organised.
Meeting others at uni later to work on the next presentation.
Morning all, I hope everyone is feeling fine and dandy today?
Good luck with your presentation Hopeful.
Hazeleyes - loved the omlette story, I hope you learn to love them! I find if I have a lie in I go to bed later, then when it comes to day of work, I can't get up!!
sparklinglime - nice to hear that you had a Family Day - so important, I can't believe you will only have one child left in school, it is definitely the start of a new era. Childhood seems never ending, then all of a sudden you wonder where it has gone and what happens now!
Hope you are having a good day Louise and the snow has cleared up - that was very bizarre!
My weekend was quiet, cracked on with assignments, did the shopping, went out for drinks on Friday which was fun - great music!
I have just seen that we are due some sun in a fortnight or so!! ha ha!
Morning everyone....hope you're all ok? You all sound busy bees.
Let's hope we get some lovely weather again soon eh? Hope we get it before then Anna...
Well, went to see Avengers Assemble at the weekend...really,really good( but I love those sort of films anyway)...
Need to fill in some forms for my Solicitor today,( she seems a great one too I have to say...very quick to reply)...
Have done some washing too...but been a bit slack with the hoovering LOL!
xxx
Hi all. Guess what I've just eaten? Give you a clue, begins with an O and ends in an E I was impressed with how fluffy it was, but not sure on the taste of them still. Can't understand it as I love eggs! C is going to have a poached egg in a bit, with beans and maybe chips, not sure yet. Hate to say it, but I'm feeling icky, and I wasn't before I ate!!!
Hi Mich, Hopeful, Sparkling, Louise and Anna, lrh and everyone else that visits the chatroom.
is it an orange
or an olive
ha ha lrh, I am trying to think of more, but can't!
I always like a bit of Italian seasoning on my fluffy O's
Ah, Hazeleyes, for a minute I thought you were advertising your gadget, but if you're feeling icky now, maybe not. I like an Omelette, with lots of cheese, yum, but prefer fried eggs. Have never seen the point in poached eggs - that sounds way too complicated!
Had a very unproductive day. Sigh. Somebody send me some inspiration!
Handing some inspiration to Hopeful. What's up?
Poached egg came out looking very much like a fried egg, and its now sitting half eaten on C's plate. Uhmmmm, guessing he was as impressed with that as I was with the omelette. Does anyone put milk in theirs? Could I be going wrong with ingredients maybe? Slinks away to have a think.
lrh, excellent guessing, go to the top of the class
Thanks for the inspiration - yet another presentation...
I put milk into my omelettes, yes. :-)
xx
I just read the O and E and knew immediately - and burst out laughing!!
Can you get a refund? That'll teach you to order stuff in your sleep...
Very healthy though
I don't put milk in my omelettes. Mixed herbs, salt and pepper.
Morning all.....hope everyone is ok today?
Just off to do my volunteering work until 2PM....hope we get to see a bit of sunshine soon eh?x
Good luck with the volunteering Mich, hope everyone still as nice as last time and you feel at home there.
Morning everyone, I have a Special Announcement, I have just got back from appearing on Radio 4 Woman's Hour!!! I was speaking on behalf of One Space, only got to say a couple of things but mentioned the website. They wheeled in a couple of celebs at the last minute so that's why I was only asked a couple if questions.I was very nervous, but enjoyed it greatly. If you want to hear it then go to BBC iPlayer Radio
OOOhhh Louise...* claps hands*
Yay! That's our girl
I'll listen to that tomorrow
Ok, just because I have to tell someone and don't want to bother any friends with the phone at this time of night: When I went to bed about an hour ago I found a huge (golf ball?) lump in my right breast. So I've spent the last hour surfing the net looking for all the benign things this could be - there are lots, especially for 'my' age group, so I am determined not to panic just yet. Shall make appointment as soon as the surgery opens in the morning. Like I have nothing else to worry about.
Made me think of Headfulloffog though, and I really hope she is ok. Louise/Anna you couldn't email her to see if she's alright, could you?
Will try and sleep now although my mind is racing a bit. Oh and sorry to stick this in the Chat thread, I didn't know where would be 'appropriate'. :-(
Good morning one and all!
Hopeful, yes it is important to get that checked straightaway, as you know nine out of ten lumps are harmless but always vital to go and see. And even if benign, it may need treatment, like a cyst draining etc. Let us know when your appointment is.
As for members who have not posted for a while. we don't get in touch with them, we operate on the premise that we are here if people need us and we therefore tend to think that it means that people are doing ok, in fact we would like it if people popped in to tell us this, as it is so encouraging to others starting out on the single parent journey.
How is everyone else this morning? I have a friend coming for a gossip and coffee later
My other big news is that son was offered the job at Asda, 21 hours a week, he is very excited. He leaves college in about 6 weeks and so hopefully it will eventually lead to more hours.Hazeleyes, his friend has got a job as a "picker" for the Home Shopping and does indeed start at 5am whereas my boy gets a real lie-in and starts at 7 I have got him some steel toe capped boots, he gets the rest of the uniform provided.
Hope everyone will have an OK day, make sure the receptionist knows you need a quick appointment, Hopeful.
great news Louise - well done to your son
Have a good day everyone - haven't listened to you on the radio yet Louise but am looking forward to it later
Hopeful, please do go to your GP.
Appointment is at 15:20 (told the receptionist why I needed it and she made it possible!). Will see practice nurse who will get doctor involved if necessary. Hopefully (love the pun), it'll be nothing worth shouting about. Am not panicking though. :-)
Hope everyone else is fine! x
Well done, Hopeful, for getting an appointment today. I am sure you know this but you have to be seen by a specialist within 14 days if they want further investigations. We are right with you.
I'm glad you're able to see them today.
Referred to specialist to be seen within two weeks. Sigh. I really have better things to do! :-p
Thanks for rooting for me!
thanks for updating us Hopeful - sending positive vibes your way
Hi Hopeful well done for acting quickly, we are all behind you. Try and put it behind you until you go and see the specialist - as worrying never got anyone anywhere.
Good news about your son's job Louise - they seem so few and far between for our youngsters these days.
Watched Malaki in Britains Got Talent last night - wished he had sang a punchier song - I wanted him to win!
Have a good evening one and all
I'm so pleased for your son Louise.
Thanks, guys, I have been astonished at how well he has done, nothing against him but I mean in this awful job market.
Hopeful, that's great that you got the referral, you say you have better things to do but there is nothing more important than your health in this instance. Can you take someone along with you for the appointment? Women are usually there a good while, as there are various tests and things. One Space is here for you whenever you want to talk
What's everyone up to today?
Just to let you know that I am on holiday from tomorrow. Anna and Sally will be here, of course, keeping you all in order I am going on a singing holiday! I have always fancied one and so decided to take the plunge, it is a country house near the coast and you sing morning and evening and get the afternoons free, it is for four days and then I will spend some time at home catching up with stuff.
Good morning all. Hopeful, try not to worry about the appointment. I've had so many breast lumps, though not for a few years now. I've had them drained, which isn't pleasant, but not too bad. Am sending you positive vibes and hugs.
Louise, not listened to the radio thing yet, but will do in a while. Well done to your son on getting his new job.
lrh, how are things with you?
Hello Anna
Sparkling, hope you're okay.
Not been here for a few days, as I've been a total wreck. On Tuesday lunchtime, I heard something in my kitchen rustling bags. Went to investigate, thinking a bird had flown in, but couldn't see anything. Later that evening, I could hear an odd noise, but again couldn't find anything. Same thing the following morning, which by this point, I was started to feel freaked out. Went to work in morning, came back and moved out the fridge/freezer, wondering if a bird was trapped behind it or something. Nothing. Another noise had me sprinting out of the kitchen, and then I saw something move near the fridge/freezer and behind a cupboard. Could not go back in, so called the neighbour up. It was a ruddy squirrel. J left windows open, pulled out all appliances, and left telling me it would leave now it had open space. Went to get C from school, came back, and I heard it moving, so C went to get J back in. He looked everywhere, and assured me the beast had left. I say beast as this is how it feels to me. I'm absolutely petrified of them, especially when they are not outside!!!! Feeling reassured, I emptied crockery cupboard, washed every single thing, washed cupboards, then the floor. Put a wash on, and heard a noise!! Trying to convince myself that I was letting my mind run away with me, I looked and couldn't see a thing. Friday friend knocked, as I'd told her about it at the school. Sat down in the kitchen, I went to put the kettle on, and again I heard it. I shot out the kitchen door, leaving her to deal with it. She opened the cupboard, and there it was!! Quickly scuttled away, and she spent a good half hour trying to get it out. I was no where to be seen by this point, feeling totally sick. The ruddy thing would not leave, so I rang a TA who had said her hubby would come and get it, should the squirrel still be there. At 9.30 she troops in with hubby and son, all in PJ's, which made me laugh. He blocked the wastage hole in the cupboard, after again searching the kitchen, and no sign of the beast. Sat with me for half an hour, me telling him I could hear it, him telling me it was definately in my head!!! Shut all doors, went to bed, still not convinced. Got up in morning, heard it, opened the cupboard door, and saw it, scuttling backward. Screaming, I ran back out, waking C up with my scream!! Rang the council again (I'd called them on the Wednesday, but won't come out unless they are in the loft)??? RSPCA wouldn't come out either for squirrels. So, rang the council, again they said wouldn't come out, even though I'm telling them, there must be a hole somewhere where it getting in and out from. So, I told a white lie, saying I'd even had to see my GP as I'm a nervous wreck, and cannot go in the kitchen to cook dinner etc (which isn't a lie by the way). Straight away, she said she would have someone round. Ringing me back, she told me they would be here this afternoon. I put two bits of cheese on the floor last night, and it was still there this morning, but I'm not satisfied that it has totally left the building, as I know for a fact there is an entry of some sort for this animal. My neighbour rang at 7am saying he could hear it either on the roof or in the loft.
I'm not an animal lover at all, outside is fine, but indoors sharing my flat with me, is just not on. I was in such a state yesterday, and i'm shaking just at the thought of it. A friend told me to call PDSA, which I did. They don't deal with it, but told me to call Tick Wince. No number to give me, and directories couldn't help me either!! Anyone heard of Tick Wince????
So, a waiting game for me today. Not in school, and I've given C the day off too. Two late nights on the trot, and to be honest I don't care.
Louise, that sounds brilliant! Have a lovely time.

No idea if they can help.
Thing is, if your neighbour thinks they're in the roof, then the council need to know that.
Write to the councillor for your area about those trees. The council should be clearing them, its not your responsibility. Write to your MP even.
I know your terrified, and thinking of you loads.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thankyou Sparkling. The councillor and MP thing, I'm getting on to that ASAP. I am terrified as you know, and am even getting to the point of imagining noises in the living room. I'm hoping it's my imagination only!!!
Am just listening to the Woman's Hour, but Louise's bit not on it yet.
Louise, you were brilliant, and certainly didn't come across as nervous. Well done you.
I really must start to listen to this radio programme. I really enjoyed it. You spoke really well Louise.
Thanks, I will enjoy my hol and glad that some of you have listened to the programme
Hazeleyes, I do hope that you have had some success with the people you rang, how absolutely awful for you. I could not reply earlier as my Internet crashed. There are things you can buy, like traps and sprays but of course it is more money to shell out. Anyway I am thinking of you and hoping this has been dealt with, you will indeed need to get the trees cut back
Hope everyone else is Ok
Have a super time Louise, sing your heart out girl!
I am off up North to see my neice for her 18th (blimey where does the time go?) But I will be around on the boards, so look forward to hearing from everyone over the weekend.
Have a great Friday evening

Good morning everyone
Hope your day at work is Ok, lrh, just think how you can snigger when you have a public holiday and we don't
Sparkling: asda beckons (secretly thinks...bet sparkling buys a box of Ritz crackers) You did well yesterday, hope you can get some relaxation today.
Hazeleyes yes make the most of it, I am often the same, cant sleep in when I get the chance but did actually snooze till 8 this morning. Today will be mainly devoted to avoiding tidying out an awful cupboard. Lawn done yesterday so can look smugly out of window!
Hopeful, how are you?
