Exciting... I hope all goes well for her.
I've been to see my "Aunty". We had a nice afternoon with tears and laughter.
Still no sunshine here, but can see it on the mountains. Ho hum...
Hi all
sparklinlime, I am glad you got to see your aunty, I hope that she is coping and it hasn't been too much of a struggle for her.
hazeleyes, I have been sweaty all weekend, funny you should ask! Went to Cheddar on Sat and did a loooooong walk and the weather was divine, then Sun did another 3hr bike ride, again gorgeous weather, my back was dripping!
pq - woohoo, really not long now, I am guessing today or tomorrow. I hope you had a relaxing day and managed to sort your kindle out.
kpw - when is your meeting?
Louise - I hope you had a lovely weekend and a good Monday too!
No sun here, but hopefully there will be some during the week
Hi all. Louise, what is the news on your friend and baby? Sparkling, I should have cut the grass here too, but....... Anna, I had a feeling you'd be sweaty, hehe. Pq, hols are getting closer. How did the homework go? C was brilliant was his, no kick offs, hurrayyyy. Think I've finally got through to him, that I'm not the one that'll get in trouble, and if he does, that's his lookout!
I'm waiting patiently here for the gas people. Coming to 'wash out' the system, which is a long job, apparantely! I was told to be home for 12.30, (I did say I'd be back by 1pm) but not long enough for them to do the job, so 12.30 it was. Now 1.45, and no one to be seen, so here I wait
Blooming plumbers Believe me, I know a lot about plumbers...
My aunty is devastated. Hugged me as if she wasn't going to let go. At least I will be able to pop in on the way home now I'm finishing earlier.
Colleague is in tomorrow and then off for a week, so I'll be covering her days. I think it will be quite nice to have next Friday, if not Thursday and Friday off to make up for the hours... Bet I won't!
Had a Tesco home delivery. I feel a bit odd, and must be feeling under the weather as I ordered a fresh loaf and can't face it! Taken a couple of paracetamol. Oh dear. Hope I'm not going to be poorly!!! I can imagine how well that wouldn't go down.
Especially after another particularly bad day at work. Worrying bit is that even colleague is getting rather fed up now.
Hope everyone has had a good Monday.
Hello one and all,
Baby news is that my friend had a little boy yesterday, I don't know any details yet as she is still in the hospital, should find out more tonight when I go to housegroup as we are getting meal rota going for a few days after she comes out of hospital.
PQ fingers crossed that all is still excitement in your house and you are more or less ready?
Sparkling it sounds as if you were not feeling too brillaint last night, how are you today? Hmm yes day off sounds nice, do try and have one. Glad you were able to see your aunty.
Hazleyes wow, C and the homework, that sounds like a breakthrough, it is a different kettle of fish when they finally realise it is THEIR responsibility. Did the boiler man finally come?
Three clients for me today. I have been thinking about my counselling work and have decided I need to take more regular breaks. Of course I need to think about the clients and their needs but it's quite easy to get a bit "burnt out" so need to look after me too. Going shopping this morning, I got my posh coffee yesterday as usual and also cleared out my bedroom and put away the summer quilt and got out my throw which is much lighter...though it is very grey out there still.....maybe we should ask PQ if she has room in her suitcase for us all?
Hope everyone will have a good day
Morning,
Excitement is at fever pitch. Not sure the girls will be able to concentrate at school today, or me for that matter. Come and squash in my suitcase one and all, I'm sure you'll fit with a bit of help from my shoe horn!!
Sparkling, I hope you are feeling better today, but if you're not try and put yourself first and take time out if you need it, even if your colleague is away.
Hazeleyes, glad C did his homework without any problems. We didn't get any done this weekend as they 'forgot' to bring it home...a bit distracted at the moment I think!
Louise, glad to hear you're thinking of your own wellbeing, you spend so much time looking after everyone else you need to make sure you get a break.
Hear, hear PQ, we all need to look after ourselves and I really want to do this. Hope you do too, sparkling
PQ Hope you and the girls have a wonderful time and enjoy the sun and the lovely opportunity for a refreshing break. We will miss you! but look forward to hearing all about it
PQ - have an absolutely fabulous time. Take ear plugs and good books so if the girls do have any discussions you won't hear them!! I'll be thinking of you in the sunshine!
I went to my MiL's after I finished this afternoon, and we sat in the conservatory playing Boggle - I won by the biggest margin ever!! We had a lovely chat too. Then this evening went to get some canoeing helmets from the retired Scout leader, to lend to another group. Daughter came too and they were pleased to see her.
I'm hoping to go out with my friends for a meal in the local pub next week. A while since we've been out, and now driving lessons are out the way, I think I can spare me £10 for a treat. Very extravagant, I know...
It was odd, as the sun was shining in MiL's place, which is 8 miles away from here. No sun here!!
I seem to have pulled a muscle in the side of my tongue - too much talking (I've done it before). Quite painful.
Hope you sorted out that plumber hazeleyes.
Surely not too much talking? I once got jaw problems from that (honestly!) HAHA a Boggle victory extraordinaire!!!! Well done. The meal out sounds a lovely plan.
Baby was ten pounds eek! I saw all the younger women in the housegroup (childless) wincing at that, whereas the ones of us who have had babies sort of dissolved into evil cackling.
What's everyone up to today? Wonder if PQ has set off? I have a meeting at the counselling place.
Oh my goodness. My sister's baby (now 21) weighed in at over 10 pounds, but she did end up having an emergency C section!
Best not comment on today, although my friend and I went for ice cream while our sons were in Explorers
One down, three to go... (full days that is!)
Good morning all, how are you and what are you up to today?
The thought of a 10 pound baby does kind of make you want to squeeze your knees together. My cousin and me had our boys about two weeks apart, hers was 10lb 4ozs mine 6lbs 7ozs when you layed them together hers looked like he was about three months old, they are similair in size know though.
I am off to the shops later K needs new trainers so have promised that after his exam today we could go look, also have to facebook all my friends and family so they don't think i'm ignoring them, i lost my mobile phone at the weekend and have been out of communication whilst i waited for a new sim, i also need everyones phone number.
Good luck with getting the trainers, Sally. At least there seems to be a wider choice these days in the big sports shops. My friend who is almost 60, went with me to Sports Direct, he was determined that he was not going to like any of the trainers even though there honestly must have been 250 styles to choose from....it was a bit like going with a six year old. After witnessing stomping and tutting for considerable minutes, I told him to sit down, and I IMMEDIATELY found exactly what he wanted and cheaper than even HE had budgeted. So I hope K gets sorted with his too.
Ooh sounds like the ice cream was very much the best bit of the day, sparkling.
I am away this weekend, there are 90 of us going away with the church to the rolling hills of Derbyshire, lovely! I will be back on Monday morning and Sally is here with you over the weekend, but I am here tomorrow of course.
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to breaking up for half term
Wow it is quiet in here, that is unusual!
Just want to wish everyone a great weekend and I will be back with you on Monday
I'm sorry I've missed you Louise.
I hope you have a brilliant weekend though.
I'll need to go into work tomorrow as I've done no invoicing this week. What a crazy week!
One more full day to go and then colleague is back and I will be finishing at 1pm :-))
It's really cold here. I hope its warmer with everyone else!
Morning all
I hope you enjoy your stay rolling around them there hills in Derbyshire Louise
Good luck with that invoicing today sparkling, do you have any plans for when you get off work?
It has been decidedly cooler here too, but the sun is out this morning.
Got K's trainers, ended up paying more than i wanted too, i'm thinking that i might have to start strapping his feet so they can't grow anymore.
I need to go food shopping today i have to stock up when this lot are off school, i hope that you are all having a great day whatever you are doing!!
hi everyone well another warm day today, it was so warm here in the north west,me and kid took dog out for massive walk, then to the park, then supermarket, met my eldest dawter who bk from uni, made nice tea, today very warm, gona go out for another long walk with kids and dog, make the most of the sun i say,
Another sunny morning here too keira, it's funny because i was out walking yesterday too though i don't have a dog i think it is good for kids to be outside and regularly take my lot on long walks.
I'm thinking that i might get on with finishing my crochet blanket for my brothers baby that is due in August and am looking forward to having my roast dinner i got a nice piece of pork yesterday
Hi all. Louise, hope you have a lovely weekend. Pq, enjoy your holiday. Sorry I missed you both.
Hello to everyone else in the chatroom. Hope you're all well, and hopefully enjoying some sunshine. Not had a chance really to get on computer (until now) as been rather busy. Incident at school, which resulted in C and I going to hospital. They first thought he'd fractured his arm, but thankfully, the xray showed bad bruising. Arm in sling, but it's lots better now. Poor lad.
Oh hazeleyes poor C, is he lapping it up being waited on?
Hope the rest of you have had a good day, my girls want to camp in the garden tonight, so they are in the process of digging everything out of the shed, and I'm about to make a start on dinner.
Oh no! Poor C. Thank goodness its not broken, fracture clinics are such fun
Lazy day here, as there's been a very cool breeze blowing today - yesterday was gorgeous.
Older two are cutting and strimmering the grass for me - I did start...
Hello I am back! How are you all today?
I am sorry to hear about C's arm and hope he won't have the sling on too long, hazeleyes,
Sparkling, did you get the grass cut?
Kiera, great that you got out in the sun. Is your eldest daughter around for a few days? My eldest son is coming today but just for the day as he is working tomorrow.
Sally it sounds as if your weekend has been busy. I enjoyed my time away but glad to get back home too. My journey on Friday was an adventure so will tell about that later, have a good day everyone
Hi Louise. I'm glad you've enjoyed the time away. Hoping your adventure on Friday wasn't too shocking. Enjoy your visit from your oldest.
The older two ended up doing most of the grass, although I did do some (not that there's much). Did some clearing too. I'm struggling pain wise at the moment. MUST make an appointment
Last full day tomorrow and the children have been warned that their bedrooms will be done.
Hope C's doing ok hazeleyes, and you have your feet up.
Bucketing down here today and blowing a gale. Saw my Aunty this morning and am now in the office with the heater on, headphones on listening to Radio One, having checked my bank balance as there's internet here!!
I hope everyone is ok.
Enjoy your day with the eldest Louise. Glad you had a good weekend.
Sparkling, I'm just going to say tut tut, and leave it at that
Sally, I didn't do any waiting on C hehe. It was his left arm, so could manage perfectly well with the right. I'm all heart!
Weather not too great, but the sun at least is shining, wind is blowing and it does feel chilly, even indoors!! Looking to see what is on at the cinema for C.
Well I'm not leaving until the rains stops hammering down!
Give over, you're staying put, so you don't have to do any housework
I did housework yesterday - so yaboosucks :-))
It's stopped hammering down now mind...
Here is my adventure.
We were due to set off @4pm. My American friend was driving. The passengers were me and another friend who is awaiting a knee op, and her eight year old daughter. The driver (M) said her car had been in the garage alll week as it had kept going into "safe mode" but no worries as the garage had said it is only in traffic jams and just turn the engine off and on again. So we set off and the car kept going into safe mode which meant we could only go at 20mph and even switching off the engine did not help. We got right across town in rush hour and within about 7 miles of the motorway and decided there was no way we would be OK in that car. So we drove back to mine, encountering rude, beeping drivers. M did really well, I was proud of her
My other friend could not drive because of her bad knee so we all piled into my little car, all four of us plus ten tons of luggage, and finally set off again at 5.30. It was soooo busy and on the way there was a mega rainstorm and the surface spray was blinding. I am not a happy driver at the best of times, I get really stressed out, and my eyes were like hot coals by the time we arrived. But what an achievement that I had managed to do it!! The way back was fine because it was not a Bank Hol Friday in the rush hour and the weather was ok.
Well it has been a relaxing time with my eldest today so that's been great. How is everyone else this evening?
Well done Louise. So glad you had a good day today too.
I've had a lazy day really.
My colleague is back tomorrow, my colleague is back tomorrow, my colleague is back tomorrow
Unless she's won the lottery. She said she wouldn't come back if she won the lottery... And I haven't won the lottery as I left it too late to buy a ticket. Euro lottery is £81 million - which to be fair is one million short of my dream where I won £82 million, so perhaps it wasn't ever going to be a dream come true scenario!
Seventeen year old had to go into college today to finish off stuff (he wasn't the only one) that should have been completed last week. I had a text at 4pm saying "come and get me now". Well I couldn't as I don't finish to 4.30pm... He sent the text and then switched the ruddy phone off!! He did switch it on again when I didn't turn up ten minutes later. Daughter eventually got hold of him and told him to have a walk (the college is on a lovely business park). Picked him up at 5.48pm - boy what a face... He had panicked as there were no buses going to the main site. Had he got to the main site he'd have been in a terrible state as there were no buses picking up from the college grounds. We did have a chat about this yesteray as I knew he'd get in a pickle... All is well though.
I'm off to bed. I have a headache as I am possibly feeling rather excited as colleague is back tomorrow - or had I mentioned that.
Thats great that your colleague is back, I know you enjoy her company at work and also means you can finish ON TIME, OH YES YOU CAN, sparkling Worrying about your son, has he now got a back-up plan of "what to do if...."?
How is everyone this morning? It's a bit grey out there. Yesterday I went to the seaside with my friend, we did not paddle though as it was verrrry cold. Had fish and chips and also went to a shopping outlet where I got a bright pink handbag! Today is jobs day....bank, shops etc
Hazeleyes, did you find a decent film at the cinema? Wonder when PQ is back?
It's almost better son panicks there as he has nowhere to run to. Locally he would run blindly in a vague direction of home.
Quite handy with colleague back, although I think she'd already forgotten how refreshed she felt after her break by the time I left. Picked up youngest and his friend from a local tourist attraction where my friend dropped them off this morning to meet other friends (who's mum stayed in the car reading while they were there). They had fun. This is the bit I haven't been able to do when I wasn't finishing on time! Makes a difference. They're on a beach with the Explorer Scouts this evening for games. I do hope the black clouds and the rain pass by then! It's looking a bit stormy here.
It sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday Louise.
Hi everyone! sparklinglime, I do hope the clouds have lifted or at least all the Explorer Scouts have good cagouls (I love that word!)
Your poor colleague, already back in the thick of it by break time, oh well, glad you have her back in the office and you get to have Your Time.
I have had some eventful few days, my daughter is back from Italy, hurrah, although I have hardly seen her, she has been out with friends, my dog has had emergency hysterectomy and I came off my bike and scraped/scuffed my leg pretty impressively - 18 stitches! Ugh! Funny how life goes eh?!
This evening I am cooking a simple (soya) meatballs and tomato sauce with spag, then curl up with the TV
I hope everyone else is well.
Oh gosh Anna, I'm sorry you came off your bicycle. I was lucky in the years I cycled - a few scrapes and a buckled wheel, but no stitiches (I can say that now I can get on a bicycle!!). I hope you're not too sore and heal quickly.
It must be so lovely to have your daughter home - even if she isn't in much!
Son has a cagoul - although trying to make sure he took it I had to resort to embarrasment by handing it to the Leader! He took it... My friend who dropped one of the other scouts off for me to take though was half an hour late! I hate being late. We were only four minutes late in the end... One of the other Mum's is bringing them back. It's still quite black here. I have a feeling it might flash bang bang it later.
Hi everyone,
Hope you're all OK. Nearly the end of half term. Have had a busy most-of-the-week and looking forward to a bit of downtime this weekend whilst the kids are at their dad's. My youngest had a horrible bug last weekend - high temp, vomiting, couldn't eat and general very floppy - which meant the whole week off work. Now that she's better I can say this without feeling guilty, but what the **** can I do now that I've lost best part of £200 wages? I'm self-employed so there's no carer's leave to fall back on.
The Ex is picking the kids up today and I know I'm going to have a real struggle stopping myself screaming and shouting at him. It's not like I've got child maintenance to fall back on - the CSA can't get a penny out of him coz he lives off his girlf and mother!! What a useless idiot..... But, I'm being irrational aren't I? Is it his fault she was ill? No. Is it his fault that I am going to struggle at the end of June? What do you think? Yes or No?
Sorry to hear about the bike incident Anna i hope your recovering well.
Your car journey sounds like it was a real trial Louise, but glad you enjoyed the rest of your weekend.
Did you get the lightening last night sparkling?
Hi sarah34 sorry to hear your daughter was unwell, have you checked to see if you are getting everything your entitled to money wise you can check with our money expert to see if they can offer any suggestions.
Going to meet up with a friend later for coffee and a catch up and have a few odds and ends that i need from the shop and that's about all i have planned for today.
Hi all. Ooohh Anna, sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you're resting, and your leg is okay. I am very squeamish when it comes to stitches, so was screwing my eyes up when I read about 18 of them!! Glad your daughter is back home with you.
Louise, what a journey you had, but thankfully, it didn't spoil your weekend. Sure it was nice to have a catch up with eldest.
Sparkling, hope you're finishing on time. We've got our eyes on you, Louise and I, hehe.
Sally, hope you enjoyed time with your friend.
Hi Sarah, hope the pick up went okay between you and ex.
Went over friends yesterday. Weather is really horrid, but C and I had a great time. Should be taking C for a haircut today, but I'm actually liking it longer, and so is he, so we're leaving it for now.
Hello everyone, I'm back
Had a lovely week in sunny, but rather windy, Tunisia. We all had a great time and are feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Have been reading through the recent posts and it sounds like you have all had interesting weeks. Anna I hope you are OK after your tumble from your bike, that is my worse fear when out cycling which is one of the reasons I don't do it much. Hazeleyes how is C now? Its horible when they hurt themselves. Louise you're car adventure sounded interesting, well done you for taking on the driving. Sparkling, I got the impression you're glad you're colleague's back??? Did I get that right?
Well we had a fun time at the airport in Tunisisa, we were upgraded to the VIP lounge! The rep in the hotel gave us the wrong departure bus information so we ended up at the airport 6 hours before our flight was due to take off, we weren't able to check in so as it was their mistake they got us into the VIP lounge. It was very nice but it didn't quite make up for us having to get up so early!! 5.45am!
Not sure about this weather, I'm missing the sunshine.
Hello and welcome home pq, the sun will be with us again tomorrow apparently! It is good to hear that you are feeling relaxed and refreshed - long may it last Now for the washing! Tell us what goes on behind the doors of a VIP lounge??!
hazeleyes, you should see the pictures!! Even the doctors said that it was an impressive wound!! he he Are you guys on half term at the moment?
sarahb34 - sorry to hear that your youngest has been ill, but glad that you shall get some downtime. It is annoying that your ex is helping towards costs, but don't dwell on it as it will only be yourself that is left feeling frustrated.
sparkling, thanks for the well wishes, I am determined to get back on my bike asap! I used to be well embarrassed by my cagoul, but now I actually think they are pretty cool! ha ha!
Hi Louise and Sally I hope you are both well, have a happy Friday and weekend. I am off now to Cardiff to see Eddie Izzard with my daughter, we booked it a year ago! Wish I had a pair of crutches though! Doc advised that I asked for a wheelchair, hmmmm, we'll see!
Have a fab time Anna, and do get a wheelchair if you need it. We're still on holidays, until Monday, and boy is it going quick!
Pq, welcome back. Glad you're all rested up, as Anna says, long may it last! Apart from yourselves, was there anyone of importance in the VIP lounge? Do you all return back to normal on Monday?
I'm hoping on a barbeque at the weekend, as I've heard the weather should be nicer than last weekend, so fingers and toes crossed here. Have been playing on the WII with C, Mario Kart, so not too strenuous. I've come to realise, that though we spend all day everyday together, I don't really find time for him, with games and stuff. I seem to be either too tired, or doing other things indoor. We've had a lovely time today, and once we've eaten, we shall play again.
Well I didn't finish on time yesterday, but I did today. Good excuse though as I had to get 17 year old from college (he has to go in as he's STILL not finished his work!). Then daughter and I went to see MiL, which was nice. I've dropped her off at her friend's house, as four of them are there having a sleepover - even at 19, they still want sleepovers!!
Youngest has just gone off to MacDs with his friend who is here every holiday to stay with his grandparents (his Dad lives locally, but doesn't seem to see much of him). I always feel its odd that he's here every holiday - including Christmas. Lovely lad (he's been coming here for years now).
Anna, do use a wheelchair. It would be a shame to be struggling when you've been waiting so long to see him. I hope you have a great time. (Thinking about it, this post is probably too late! So I hope you had a great time).
I'm glad you had a good time pq.
Have fun on the Wii hazeleyes - we still haven't plugged our back in after all that re-wiring malaky.
Lovely sunny evening here.
Hello everyone, how are you doing?
Welcome back PQ, we have missed you, glad your hol went well, nice to spend some time together the three of you. What have you got planned for the weekend?
Sarah, nice to see you in the chatroom, how did it go with the children's dad?
Anna have fun at Eddie Izzard, I know you have been looking forward to it for ages. Hope your leg continues to heal well and is not too painful.
Sally, hope the weather is kind to you for your weekend plans.
Talking of which, Hazeleyes a BBQ? At your house? sounds like fun, will you invite some friends? Hope C's arm is better.
Sparkling, hope today goes ok at work and your daughter enjoyed the sleepover
Well I was rudely awoken @4.50am with youngest's alarm going off again and again and again...he was not back from Big Night Out and had forgotten to switch it off before going out. To say I was cross is the understatement of the century. The air was BLUE. He had texted saying he was staying at his friend's but this was a fib as he had gone to his girlfriend's house...however he got his come-uppance as he fell asleep and texted me again when he woke and now has to meet the girl's mum for the first time, ha ha. I have asked him to come up with a plan to prevent a recurrence of the alarm business and made some unpleasant suggestions as to what I thought would be a deterrent myself (haha)
Off to do some errands, my friend had an op yesterday so my first job is to collect a prescription for her
Hi Louise et al,
Handover stress was high but I decided to say goodbye to the kids in the lounge and got them to let themselves out the front door to meet their dad. Am I weird - that after nearly 2 years - I still can't cope with hearing his voice and put my fingers in my ears until they've gone down the garden path? I know it's odd but it helps. I moped around for half an hour or so and then perked up a bit before taking myself down to the local pub and propping the bar up til nearly closing time. It wasn't intended to be a depressive drink either, just an opportunity to socialise with grown ups after the end of a long half term!
Luckily I did more talking than drinking so I felt fine this morning!
Hi sarah, don't think you are odd at all not to want to have anything to do with him! However, remember that the opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference, and you will know you are truly moving on when you don't care anymore and you can just face him without it affecting you. What are you up to over the weekend?
Hope everyone is well this morning Looks sunny out there!
Transferring over to the June thread now, the two posts below have been moved over, sorry I thought it wasn't June till tomorrow!
This comment has been moved here.
This comment has been moved here.
Well I hope everyone did get some sunshine in the end.
PQ glad the girls' dad has seen them, I imagined he was not going to see them till post-hols.
Sparkling, hopefully my son knows he has been clamped down upon!
Been to church and then to the garden centre, bought some rhubarb (yes yes, I know, as if I don't talk enough of it already haha) Friend of mine is about to have her first baby, her waters broke this morning so waiting to hear....
