I'm not going to worry about not sleeping, or I'll be worse.  I also know I'm teeth cletching, which is almost worse.  I know it will ease off once things sorted.  What ever shortfall in hours I have at work I'll make up with self employed stuff...  Really glad to see that the candidate we liked off the CV is really nice.  A few more interviews tomorrow though.

What a day.  Loads of floods and men cannot get back on to the island.  Detours galore on the island too as the B roads are well flooded.  Dreadful day rain wise, loads of work cancelled and cancelled work for tomorrow too.  Boss twitching over that!  Colleague made rather a big mistake, but looks like we've got away with it.  We were doubled up with laughter, although would probably have been sick had it not worked out.  Sorted, and future stuff will be in my job description.

Daughter should have been going to a gig in Wrexham, but hasn't, thank goodness.  Hadn't been able to contact her ages as I needed to know what she was doing.  Wasn't getting a bit frantic.  Oldest is getting anxious as he may not be able to get home from work...

Such fun.

Hi all,

A fell at school today and hurt her knee. I had to go and get her and take her to minor injuries so left work at 11am. It was lucky as I was only doing audit work today, but I'm going to have to find time to do it next week. No seriuos damage to A's knee just bruised so relieved about that too. Got a day off tomorrow with H as she has another inset day, looking forward to that.

Glad the interviews are going well sparkling. The flooding sounds awful. We've missed most of it here thankfully.

How is C hazeleyes? It must be awful to suffer with migraines at such a young age.

Pq, so pleased that A's injury wasn't too serious. Can you do the work from home tomorrow, or is it something that can only be done at work? Have a great day with H. Will A be off now too?

C's headaches are a worry, but there's not much I can do really, other than what we're already doing. He had a slight one at school, was wearing his glasses, (as now told him to wear just for reading) so, he took them off immediately. I used to be on tablets for mine, so in three weeks, and depending on how many times he's getting them, I might suggest some sort of meds for him. If they don't work, then think of something else.

Floods sound terrible Sparkling, and obviously effecting the workers. Hope your son makes it home.

Terrible winds here, and the rain was lashing down earlier. A horrid, dismal day for everyone I'm guessing.

Good morning everyone and here is hoping for a better day

Sparkling I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering about the floods. You are right not to worry about the insomnia...what about the teeth clenching...do you do it when you are awake? If you do, it is worth setting up a system where something beeps quite regularly (mobile phone? clock? kitchen timer?) and keep reminding yourself. If you imagine you are blowing out candles on a birthday cake then not only are you doing a really big EXHALE but also the way you have to have your mouth, you have to unclench. Hope your son got home safely.

Hazeleyes, it is hard when C has ongoing health things. My youngest had migraines over about a year. He would have to be in the dark then would eventually be sick and feel ok again. I have to say that I soon realised that they were made worse by him being on the computer too long (playing a certain wargame) He grew out of them after a while but anyway I did ask the GP and he said "oh we don't tend to give migraine meds to children" and basically said there was nothing he could do. Now I know your GP is more thorough than most but just to tip you the wink. Did you have a better night yourself?

PQ ohhh such a worry when they have accidents, I bet your heart sank. Do hope you enjoy your day at home with H, are you doing anything special?

Anna, I took your advice. Cup of tea at 6 then a drink of lemon at 8 and managed to get up only once in the night. I have realised that I go to the loo just because I am awake, so last night every time I woke up I made myself settle again. The reason I wake up so much is hot flushes. I wish it would get colder at night! (winning the award for Least Popular Person in the Chatroom now!Wink)

Well I am going to a Thanksgiving buffet party tonight, given by an American friend. Everyone has to take something so with Baldrick-like cunning I got in first on the list and offered to get some lovely fresh bread from the bakery (no cooking, Louise Laughing) so I am off there shortly as soon as it opens.

Massage was lovely. Youngest is off to Newcastle for the weekend. Eldest is in bed with that Norovirus, but at his house, not here. He is doing ok and does not require my nursing services, thankfully.

When I know I'm clenching my teeth, I put my tongue in the way - at the front of my mouth.  It hurts then... Cool  It works!  My colleague and I have been discussing forgetfulness etc, and it is because of the quantity of things we're coping with at work.

Yesterday boss who needs a thump has told me I won't have a desk as I'm hardly there!  I've downloaded all the stuff I might need onto a memory stick and will put that onto my laptop.  I'll just take the laptop in with me when I go to do work then.  I'll be deleting stuff on "my" computer too.  Silly bits and pieces that have built up over time.

I'm moidering...

It's anice morning here, but such a lot of rain forecasted for over the weekend.

Glad you enjoyed your massage, and enjoy the buffet tonight Louise.

A is fine today. Knee slightly swollen and stiff but she can walk without limping. I've packed her off to school with a note to get out of PE, which she was dead chuffed with. Having a quiet day with H. She's into NERF guns at the moment so we have been watching clips of NERF gun action on you tube !! Having a new floor laid in the kitchen later which will be the final part of the work, had to spread out the final bits as I ran out of money! It will be completely finished then Smile

Still not sleeping well and had a very strange dream about ex moving back home Surprised not in a nice way either so woke from that in a bit of a cold sweat.

Sparkling, are you getting ready to build an ark yet?

Hope everyone else is well and has that friday feeling Cool

Hello and happy Saturday to you all!

PQ I have such crazy dreams, sorry you were unnerved by yours. But WOW I am delighted to hear about your kitchen floor, the last bit after all the upheaval and hard work Smile ooh I don't like the look of Nerf guns, eek.

Sparkling it will be a big change for you with work and I know your emotional attachment to it. I was listening to a report on the radio from your neck of the woods about flooding yesterday. Hope you don't get too much rain over the weekend.

Hazleyes how are you? Hopeful? Kiera? Looby?

I improved my sleep last night by discarding my (summer) quilt and reinstating a cotton throw as my bedcover Smile The "buffet" last night was in fact a turkey dinner! The kitchen was massive and gleaming, like in a showhome, and one of the ladies was in a chef's outfit and you went along the line and helped yourself, there were things I had never seen before like corn pudding and green bean stew. I met a few new people too, which was nice.

Wonder how youngest is getting on at Newcastle? (shudders in slippers) When I dropped him at the station I said "Enjoy yourself and BE GOOD" He said "I think that's pretty unlikely mum" so I added "Ok then, please try not to get arrested or get One Of Those Diseases" Parenthood seems to throw up lots of new challenges, however old they get!

NERF guns aren't my favourite either, but they are all the rage at the moment, H being a bit of a tomboy is totally enthralled.

I shudder at the thought of parenting at that stage louise, you seem such a cool cucumber about it all, its great you're here to share your wisdom Smile

Another parkrun completed, and the rain held off which was a bonus, although it was rather chilly! Hope I've shaved a bit more off my time again.

Got my 2 ex Sil's coming round for dinner tonight, going to cook that prawn and squid dish again as its really quick and easy, it also looks a bit fancy so gives me chance to show off a bit Wink Having been told for years that I'm hopeless in the kitchen it feels good to spread my wings a bit.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

Hello all. Yeahhhhh, it's the weekend. Pouring down, but I don't care!

Louise, your evening sounded lovely, and quite posh! Hope eldest is feeling better, and youngest has a great time in Newcastle. No arrests or diseases guaranteed I'm sure.

Hi to everyone else using the chatroom.

I've been frantically trying to find stuff on net, to help lower children for the observation day. They have to be seen to be working independantly, which will prove difficult for my table, so I'm writing things down to help them in some way, without having to ask for help (that's the plan anyway!) Am sure things will run smoothly, but not holding my breath yet.

Good luck in your search, Hazeleyes. What independent work do the children have to do?

PQ my boys would both have loved those guns! Ah yes, your squid, they will think they are on Come Dine with Me Smile

What a shame about that girl, sparkling. It sounds as if you feel it is really hard to get a satisfactory solution to what is going on.

Thick fog all day here. The roads are unbelievable as there are four local events going on at the same time...and some bright spark has decided to do roadworks. Yesterday teatime it took me 50 mins to to a 15 min journey.

TV night tonight: Strictly, XFactor and Jungle. Youngest has texted so he is still at large, phew Sealed

What a grey day, has not stopped raining, so dark and miserable here.

Louise, the children should know about connectives, verbs etc, and be able to discuss a topic between themselves, but on my table, they just don't. They should be able to make notes, and then use those notes, plan everything out, using WOW words, openers, paragraphs, basically, everything. Most of the things are somewhere on the wall, but again, they want me to do it for them. I have written out exactly what verbs, adjectives, pronouns, nouns, imperative verbs, adverbs, hi-lighted them, and given examples, so hopefully, this will help during the observation. The idea is, they SHOULD then be able to do it in a group, and on their own. Half the time, they don't use punctuation either!!

Had a quiet day here really. Worked on homework, yeahhh, I've done loads of washing, watched some stuff with C, and now I'm dead on my feet. Didn't sleep well at all last night. Awake at 1.30, watching TV until 6 ish, then awake again at 8.30. It's a nightmare really. No wonder I can't function properly.

Actually C has done most of it, so only a bit to do. I've got loads waiting in the wings for me, so will tackle the ironing first, ggrrrr.

Very blustery here. Think I'd rather have the rain, as this wind causes all sorts of damage.

Good morning everyone

Hazeleyes any chance you had a better sleep?

That seems pretty complicated what the children are expected to do, sounds as if you have been pretty thorough. Hope the H isn't too much problem today, nor the I (ironing heh heh)

Bit of a disaster here. I had gone to bed but just before I switched out the light I (luckily) went to check the clock on the boiler as it keeps losing a lot of time and I thought I had better alter it. Opened cupboard where boiler is....gushing water! Turned off stopcock and drained taps and rang British Gas, luckily I have a Homecare agreement thing with them so they will come today. In the meantime I have no water. Again luckily, I had two large bottles of spring water (bought them when the water company was doing some upgrades this summer and told us there was a chance of occasionally having no water) On the shelf beneath the boiler were all my sheets and towels, most are wet so I have put them in the unusable shower and will await normal service so I can wash them all. Thank heavens youngest is away, the moaning and groaning would have been worse than having no water!!!!!!!!!

Awww Louise, I do hope they come early, and sort it out. It's an extremely good job that you checked it. I'm so impressed that you did all of that, stopcock and draining taps. I'd have no idea whatsoever. Don't even know where the stopcock is, let alone anything elseEmbarassed What time is youngest coming back? Let's hope it's later, rather than sooner. He'll probably want a shower the minute he gets in the doorCool

Oh no louise thats a nightmare! I'm like hazeleyes, don't think I'd know what to do. I let my british gas homecare go last year as I was making cut backs, but having heard your story I think I might reinstate it.

My weekend hasn't quite gone according to plan. H has been ill with a tummy bug so spent most of the day looking after her. The girls were supposed to be with their dad today but he's cancelled as he's ill too. So I've had to cancel my plans which I'm disappointed about. I wonder if he would cancel his arrangements if I get ill, doubt it somehow. Had a good night last night, the squid went down well, I too had a couple of glasses of champagne kiera, very nice Smile. H is much better now and has had some pancakes for breakfast. The sun is shining but its very windy.

Hope your sunday goes well this week hazeleyes, the H hasn't been done here but I've changed tack with it now, I just remind A it needs doing and ask her when she intends to do it and I leave it up to her,so far she's done it on time and I'm not stressed.

Who sings that song 'here we go again?' Conversation went like this.

C  'can I go on the playstation?'

me 'Do some of your homework, you only have a bit to do, then you can go on it. That sounds like a plan doesn't it?'

C 'I've only just got up' (hour and half ago)

me 'like I said, if you do the homework now, then you can go on the playstation'

Out of the room he goes, in a huff, saying stuff under his breathe. I ignore, within 5 mins he's sat at his desk. Is this progress I wonder? I'm sure he'll be back in soon, saying, 'can I have a break, and go on the ps for 10 mins!' I'll wait and see, hopefully I'm wrong.

All running smoothly and quietly here. No kick offs, homework was done, hey presto. I was busy cleaning, hanging curtains etc, when a lovely friend phoned. That's put paid to my housework now, once I stopped, didn't want to carry onTongue Out We had a lovely chat, and she has suggested a tonic called Metatone. She's made me promise to buy someWink So, having dinner now, only sausages, but delicious. Have also made chicken curry for tomorrow night, and mince for Tuesday, so that is great guns for me. As most important chores are out of the way, and C was near on perfect with homework, I shall give him a game later. Won't tell him just yet though. He's had a bad head too, so that is nearly gone now.

Hi louise, its on BBC3. Glad the boiler is working again, all be it without hot water, but at least the house is warm. My friend told me about bucket baths. Made ommlettes all round here this evening - well not oldest as goodness knows where he is (could be working until 6pm), and fussy youngest who has had chicken dippers and a waffle.

My Mum would swear by Metatone hazeleyes!  She'd buy it for me if she thought I was run down.  It sounds as if you got loads done though.

I should be seeing my aunty tomorrow morning, but the weather forecast is not so good.  I shall see what she says later when she phones up.

Have had itchy pets here, so a mega bathing, spraying hoovering afternoon.  Apparently instead of things going quiet on the flea front as its winter things are going mega chaotic.  Anyhow, pets seemed to have stopped itching, otherwise they'll be sleeping in the garage.

Went into work yesterday as I didn't get a chance to do an invoice.  I've brought the unsuccessful CVs home to send emails from here.  Otherwise they'll never get done.

Hopefully someone we liked will say yes to the job, otherwise I'm not sure what will happen.

WOW it was quiet in here yesterday, no-one was in here!!!

How is everyone? Hazeleyes, I agree it is worrying about C's headaches, I know you have his eyes checked regularly, my youngest used to get it after a conbination of Maths lessons and then too long on the PC. I had occasional migraines as a young woman and they were hormonally related. Do write down everything he eats when he gets one just in case there is a link. Anyway GOOD LUCK for your observation today Smile

Sparkling great that you sae your auntie and I am very sad to hear about the young lad. My friend's son was in a group of friends when he was about 12 and one night they got hold of a bottle of cider and were drinking it on the school field and the alcohol affected one of the boys badly and he had an asthma attack and collapsed in front of them, sadly died later. I sometimes think it is an illness that is not taken seriously enough. So how are things at work? Have you chosen another candidate for the job?

PQ that is bad, those young lads being suspended. My own personal feeling is that if troublesome kids are sorted out at primary school level then it is a lot better all round. Secondary schools are usually very tough on discipline, they have to be when you think about it.

Well the boiler was mended on Monday and I went to the tea party despute the pouring rain. Yesterday I did some errands in the morning, had an Argos voucher so got one of those magic tablecloths for when there is plenty of gravy and wine around over Christmas haha, also got some socks, all mine had become de-elasticated, and some new cereal bowls. I know how to live! Tongue Out Then saw my counselling clients and went to housegroup (church group)...laughed so much.

Let's hope the worst of the weather is behind us, my heart goes out to the poor people who have been flooded out

Hi,

Had my flu jab on monday and haven't been feeling great since, may be a coincidence, but either way feeling rough.

Glad the boiler has been fixed louise, its horrible when things like that are outstanding. Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.

Hazeleyes, will be thinking of you, with all the prep you have done I'm sure you'll sail through today.

Sparkling, are you any nearer to getting a new member of staff?

Ordered some more xmas pressents on line last night for my nieces. My parents are coming for a pre-christmas visit at the weekend so they can take them to my brother's and save me the postage.

Sorry that the flu jab has left you feeling grotty, PQ. I have only ever had it once and I was poorly too.

Good for you getting the prezzies sorted. I have finished my shopping and most are wrapped but that got put on hold as everything from the airing cupboard is in piles on eldest's bed. It is all clean and dry again but I am still drying out the cupboard with a little heater before things can go back in and I get to see what Christmas stuff is on the bed.

Christmas?? I haven't even given it any thought, just can't get my head round things at the moment.

Louise, I'm glad the boiler is all sorted, and sounds like Christmas is too, in your household. I'm impressed. That goes for you too Pq. Well done ladies.

Observation was good. Our class got good/outstanding, and the Head said, how well the TA's worked on the tablesSmile Getting the children talking, getting ideas out of them etc. Commented on how well behaved the kids were. Little did they realise, the lad sitting next to me was digging a hole directly in front of him, on the tableCool No lectures please, but my tooth has been playing up since Saturday. Some nights in so much pain. I am petrified of the dentist, so left it till this morning, then knew I had to do something. I fibbed a little, rang the dentist, said I was in agony, but couldn't take time out of workCool and could they just give a prescription for antibiotics. Thankfully, he agreed, but on the understanding that only this once, and also to go and see him. Hmmm, we shall seeWink

Well done hazeleyes.  I never doubted that it would be any less as you are perfect.

Work.  Well, the new girl starts on Monday.  Boss has now decided she can help him with measuring, keeping an eye on jobs and making sure houses are cleaned after work done and to do minor things like fill holes around pipes.

Colleague and I are giving her a month as she'll get fed up of how she's going to be running around (even though he's ordered a new van for her).  She'll probably ask for more pay too.  Meanwhile, colleague and I will be in the same situation we're in now.

By 2pm hysterical laughter had set in.  I need a Plan B.

Have had enough - which is nothing new.

I have a headache.

Panto with the Scouts tonight.

Oh dear, flu jabs, tooth ache and headaches. Right take the rest of the year off Cool Your cars will come and collect you at 11am tomorrow to whisk you to the airport and we shall meet for a month of sunshine, sea and chit chat in the Caribbean, our treat.....(I wish!)

I hope that everyone is tucked up cosily now, except sparkling who will be enjoying the panto (oh no she won't.....oh yes she will!)

Well done hazeleyes for an outstanding report, now go and take control of the situation and please visit the dentist, before anything gets worse. Smile

Hey Anna. She will go to the dentist (oh no she won't!) Shall see what happens after the antibiotics, which I'm pleased to say, I now have started.  The Caribbean is just what the Doctor ordered I think. Wouldn't it be great though? Dream on ladies, dream on!! I'm all cosy and warm, having had a wonderfully hot bath. Just eaten, so unless the maid turns up, I shall be doing the dishes, and I've promised myself that I shall get into bed, in time for Emmerdale.

Sparkling, enjoy the panto. I'm sure you'll all love it.

The wind is howling here, and it's soooooo cold. It's getting worse ladies, so brace yourselves!!! Roll on the summer.

Ooh Hazeleyes poor you, toothache is one of the very worst pains. Hope the antibs help. No wonder you have not been able to sleep in all that pain Cry but WELL DONE on your observation session, sounds as if you all did well, and you even manage to disguise the boy boring a hole in the table heh heh

Sparkling did you enjoy the panto? Which one was it? The situation at work is laughable, well it would be if it wasn't so awful. You will just have to wait and see...I think that is called "having the long breath"

PQ how are you feeling? Hope you and the girls are OK.

Well there is a thick frost here, I hope everyone is wrapped up warm.
