Hi louise, welcome back, sounds like you had a lovely break.
My new kitchen is fab, my girls have already pointed out that I have a silly grin on my face whenever I'm in there, it really feels like my space. Since my ex moved out I've really tried to put my own stamp on the house, to make it feel like mine, instead of the place I shared with him, this has made a big difference .
We picked up the kitten today. His name is bobby and he's 8 weeks old. He's completely nuts and has already started to climb the curtains , which has really thrown me as Mo (our resident cat) didn't do that. My girls are thrilled having bobby around, but Mo on the other hand is comletely disgusted!!
I hope evryone had a great weekend and enjoyed the lovely weather.
So sorry to hear about your friend sparkling lime x
Hi sparklinglime, I am so sorry to hear about your friend, 45 is so young. Her poor husband, do they live close to you?
pq - stamp yourself all over that house girl! I love it!
Louise, good to have you on board, refreshed and brimming with posh coffee!
RMary - its been lovely as always having you around 'see' you soon!
Thank you for all your support with the running club ladies! Especially you hazeleyes!! I will keep you updated! I was trying to get on a health kick, but failed miserably by having pizza yesterday and I bought a Mars drink - gosh they are yummy!
Hello to everyone and happy monday, wishing you all a great week :)
So sorry about your friend Sparkling. So very young, and how awful for her husband and little girl. So very very sad. xxx
Welcome back Louise. Sounds a lovely relaxing holiday, (just what the Dr ordered)
Bye Mary, hope to 'see' you again soon
Should be at work all day today, but they've changed my days, sigh. Shall be doing all day Tuesdays instead, which is a bit of a pain actually, but of course I'll manage it.
Weather has changed, but still very warm, unless that's my flushes of course

Glad to see you back Louise
pq managed to get K to do some of the ironing some of it took a turn in the dryer with a quick folding (my cheat to get out of ironing). Glad you got the kitchen done.
Thanks ladies for your posts, my brother has been allowed home (well to stay with my mum) as he still has several drains attached, they are still trying to clear up all the infection, then he can go back in a few weeks to have his op. But he is alot better now than he was.
P had a great day and the cake (carrot) which was huge was taken out by the end of yesterday. We did have some tears at bedtime as she did not want her birthday to end, she has also had a great start to secondary has already made a couple of new friends.
Anna hope your over your suffering from the running you did last week?
Do you have any plans yet for your birthday hazeleyes?
Hope you all have a good week.
Hi all,
Fun and games here as the new kitten and my existing cat try to get aquainted...lots of hissing and posturing but nothing too serious yet!!!
Glad your brother is a bit better sally, it must be such a worry for you and your family.
A birthday Hazeleyes, is it very soon??
Yes, Hazeleyes' birthday is VERY SOON and she is keeping VERY QUIET about it Shame they have changed your work hours, Hazeleyes, very annoying but hope you will soon get into the swing of a new routine.
Sparkling, many sympathies on the sad loss of your friend and how dreadful for her little girl. Will you go to the funeral, ir is it far away? How are your four settling into the new year at school and college?
PQ I know what you mean about your kitchen, when I had mine done I suddenly wanted to cook for the first time in years. Are all your curtains shredded now?
The birthday went well, Sally, that is good. Anna I am sure a small carrot juice would have tasted nicer than the Mars drink I am on a healthy eating thing too and it is beginning to show results, I think it's hard when we try and not much happens.
Some good news yesterday. Youngest has been working at Asda and although doing five days a week in practice, his contract was only 21 hours. A chap is leaving and it looks like son will get a fulltime one now and to his joy, that would include every Sunday off so he can join the Saturday night shenanigans....I am not quaking in my boots because he was more or less joining in anyway then going to work with very little sleep. So I guess this is better (said in an over-loud voice, whilst biting nails )
How is everyone today and what news?
I'm so pleased for your son Louise.
No, I won't go to the funeral although my oldest might. She was an amazing and popular woman and there will be 100s at the service. It's just devastating...
Yes sparkling it is very sad and it always seems to be the special and much loved people it happens to. I do question this at times when I see some of the horrid people I know!!
As for son, I am trying to persuade him to save some of his money with me each month so he can have a holiday next year.
Delighted for your son Louise, he must be so chuffed (especially, now he can party ALL Saturday night, hehe)
Yes, my birthday is creeping nearer (Thursday) Not doing anything at all, just a very normal day I guess. It's so soon after C's, that I don't ever have any cash to play around with. I did however buy myself some perfume last week (ran out of mine, just before summer hols)
pq, the kitchen sounds lovely, and a new addition to the family!!
Sally, glad your brother is better than what he was. Hope he recovers fully very soon.
Anna, how's the running going, pant, pant, pant
Thinking of you Sparkling
Swimming for C after school, my feet are throbbing like no one's business! He's getting on great, and thoroughly enjoying it, and of course, he's also doing it with the school now, so am sure he'll really come on now. Am off to bed very shortly, back on sleeping tabs for the time being, as the dreaded flushes keeping me awake at night, and I'm extremely irritable. At least I'm getting more sleep, so I'm grateful for that.
Hope everyone's okay. Have a good day tomorrow folks
Hi hazeleys, the kitten is gorgeous and completely bonkers. My ex has told the girls that I'm stupid for getting him, A took that as she's stupid because she wanted the kitten too, she's been very upset tonight. Why can't he keep his unhelpful comments to himself?
Great news about your son Louise, good idea about the saving money, I wish my parents had taught me how to save when I was younger.
Oh PQ, my parents were very strict about saving money. I got my pocket money every week and I had three little tubs and divided it between them, one was to spend, one for my holiday and one for a days out week in the summer. It really was too strict but I got the idea. It is none of your girls' dad's business about the kitten. Sounds to me as if he is jealous you are getting on with your lives. A seems very sensitive at the moment, how are things at school? My friend's daughter just started senior school and my friend said it is like living with an unexploded bomb, eek.
Hazeleyes, good that you treated yourself to some perfume, I know I am always saying to you that you need to treat yourself Warning: once your birthday is over then my Christmas nagging will start, heh heh. oh you have my sympathy with the hot flushes so I am glad the tablets are helping. I was up thee times last night: hot, cold, needing the loo, very very annoying. That's good about C's swimming.
There is a curry and quiz might next week with the church people. I am hoping to unleash a secret weapon in our team....my eldest will come through if not working. I think it was the idea of a free curry that swung it
I think you've hit the nail on the head louise, she has been flying off the handle a lot recently. A has settled in well at school, but she is a worryer so there may just be a general underlying anxiety. My ex is very prone to jealousy so that may well be the root of his comments, I just wish he could see how his words affect the children.
heelo people how r we all today it been a cold and damp day today i just been doing house work
PQ it sounds as if A needs a lot of reassurance right now.
Britney, any chance you could do my housework too?
Hi all, just showing my face really, it is late and I have been online for a while - I hope everyone has a good eve
Feel rather daft as I have got the date wrong this morning... Having said that my colleague and I have been getting the date wrong all day!! I can at least tell my children I was perfect until the last day of my 40s. Just as well I have an excuse now.
I'm hoping tomorrow I can have a go at sorting out my main computer. Or at least get everything copied on to the external hard drive. The printer won't print either, although it has no problem doing a test
I have an awful headache - too much crying I think.
I do hope everyone is ok.
Hazleyes, I hope you have a lovely birthday tomorrow. xxx
I am ITphobic so can relate to your printer problems sparklinglime. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
My youngest has told me she doesn't want to go to my grandad's funeral on monday, I have told her she doesn't have to go if she doesn't want to, but inside I would really like her to be with me as I think she will be upset at school knowing we are at the funeral. I have talked to her about it and she said she is worried she will be too upset and she doesn't want to cry in front of people she doesn't know. I don't really know what to do.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR HAZELEYES! Hope the day goes well and you can grab some nice relaxing time in between all the jobs. Did you get a nice card from C? He will soon be old enough to be bringing you breakfast in bed heheh, although maybe not on a school morning. Sending you very warm wishes
Hi sparkling how is your head? yes if you have been having a good old cry that can bring it on, it's good to mourn your friend but time to look after you now. Good luck with the computer
PQ the funeral thing is hard, isn't it? My nephew was really reluctant to go to my Mum's funeral, and he was 15. In the end he went and I heard my youngest say to him "Don't worry R, we are all here with you, it does not matter if you feel sad, just let me know if you want some support" and that really seemed to help him, although of course that was a squeaky little cousin saying it and not Mum. She may be a bit scared of the whole concept of funerals as well so don't force the issue if she does not want to go, but if she goes to school, just have a quiet word with her teacher so they can keep a special eye on her.
Well I have got a bargain on my hands: my friend has recently set up her own business as a complementary therapist and today I am helping with her tax return and I am getting a free facelift massage, so I may only look 25 by this afternoon!
Hope everyone will have a good day, especially Hazeleyes
Thanks lousie, it is really hard because I think she'll be fine once we get there, but I wont push it.
Happy birthday hazeleyes, hope you have a lovely day and do something just for you, even if its something small. I remember spending my 40th on my own, my ex was supposed to take the day off to be with me but 'forgot' to request it so couldn't have the day off!, anyway I was dreading it, but decided I wasn't going to have a bum day so I bought a little sushi platter and a bottle of cava from M+S and sat in the garden (I didn't drink the whole bottle I hasten to add!!) but had a thoroughly lovely time with a book and the radio. Have fun x
Enjoy your facelift massage louise, it sounds lovely, you'll have to tell all about it later.
Facial sounds lovely
I hope you have a lovely evening Hazeleyes.
Haven't looked at the printer yet... But have cleared under the kitchen table and gradually hoovering.
Happy Birthday Hazeleyes - you have not been online today, I hope that means you are having a super time out in the 'real' world!!
PQ, my daughters friend chose not to go to her grandads funeral, her mum was concerned about it, but it turned out she had a lovely day at school as all her friends had made a card and really looked after her.
sparklinglime - glad to hear that you are getting on with things, printers are strange things aren't they. Sometimes just switching it off and unplugging mine for 10 mins seems to do the trick!
Louise we won't recognise you! I hope you feel divine!
Well wish me luck - I am off in an hour for my super fabulous really fun running class, wey hey, I can't wait (groan)
I'm sure you had a good evening Anna. Was it any easier this week?
Oh anna, isn't it funny, I'm sitting here feeling quite jealous that you are out there with your running club....hope you enjoyed yourself and the other newbie came back tonight.
Had a fantastic birthday thankyou. Lots of flowers around the place, they are beautiful. Also a plant. An amazing birthday card from C. Actually had me crying with the words he'd written, also a friend cried when she read them. Gorgeous flowers from him, as well as a mug with Mum on it, and a teddy sitting in it, doritos, and a bounty bar. He really knows what I like, hehe. Friend took me out for a pub lunch, which was delicious. We had 2 glasses of wine and chicken curry. On to pick C up, then friend came round straight after with a bottle of Asti. Another friend popped round a bit later. Oh and friend with the Asti bought us all a little cake (so I had a cake after all Sparkling Wonderful card too from a friend, which also got me choked up, so kind of her.
Anyhow, work all day today, so better move my weary body and make the sarnies. It's Friday folks!!!! Catch up with everything later.
So glad you had such a lovely day, Hazeleyes, you deserve a LOT of spoiling
Did you get on Ok at running Anna?
How are things in the sparkling household?
PQ your 40th sounds like my first Christmas after divorce, the boys went to their dad and I put a lovely weepy movie on and had an Indian curry (for Christmas dinner heh heh) I loved it.
Facial massage was great, she did it with grapeseed oil. It felt quite random but it was very nice and definitely a difference in my face (slimmer) and my skin very velvety. Also at the beginning and end, she stood at the foot end of the couch and gently pulled my feet down, stretched my spine wonderfully. Having another one next week, luckily for free as I am a case study for her The only down side is we are very good friends and it was hard to stop talking.
Your birthday sounds fabulous hazeleyes. xxxxxxxxxxx
Oh dear. Watching Radio One on the red button... Quite emotional really.
Youngest is poorly, I'm starting to feel yuck.
What has happened sparkling??
I haven't felt well all day, and have slept for most of it. Managed to stay awake to watch the end of the Chris Moyles' last show on the red button... Even the dog's not been well today.
Feel a bit better after wasting the day snoozing...
Hazeleyes - your birthday sounds like a really good one - are you sharing that bounty?? Did you feel a bit tipsy when you picked up C?
sparkling - sorry to hear you are not feeling well, but glad that you have slept, I am sure it helps. I didn't know Chris Moyles is leaving Radio One, i really must keep my ear to the ground.
Louise - your facial sounds wonderful and the leg pull! Wow I bet you felt like a lanky supermodel when you walked outside
pq - perhaps you and your girls should go out for a run once a week??
My run last night - well - it sounds as though it could be great, but again Oh....Mi....Gosh, we ran for ages, then up and down this one long hill, then back again. I was in agony and thought I was going to pass out! Two women were just running and chatting, I asked how long they had been running for --- 12 years, she said most people in the group were training for the half marathon I took ages on the last stretch, walked mostly, only to find when I arrived back at meeting point, that they had all gone home - including the instructor! Cheek! I wasn't too happy about that, I could have passed out and noone would have known AND I really could have done with him saying "well done" Because it was Well Done as far as I am concerned. Hmmphh Oh and the other girl didn't turn up. Sorry all negative, but on a good note, my legs dont hurt as much
Have a great weekend x
I do think that's really unfair that the instructor didn't wait. That's awful! But you are doing well The funny thing about doing things like this is that it gets under your skin...
It will be my friend's funeral tomorrow. Have bought ribbons for us all to wear in her memory. I hope the sun shines. If I could stand, I would be there...
MiL has gone to stay with her daughter and family. It would have been their 24th wedding anniversary on Sunday, and I know she's finding things difficult as time is going on.
I phoned my sister for a chat. Her son is back at Uni this weekend. Sounds like she has a few health issues, one of which sounds worrying (again, family history).
It's a funny old world...
It certainly is. Your friend will know that you are thinking of her sparkling. And we will be thinking of YOU.
Well done Anna, we think you are fab even if the instructor was not doing her job properly!
I watched some the red button programme the other day.
Have just been saying on another thread that ama bit behind with work, this week as well as that massage I have had dentist, optician, church meeting and counselling meeting.....so need to have a bit of a catchup tomorrow!
Shall be thinking of you tomorrow Sparkling. I'm sure your friend's family also know if you could be there, then you would be. xxx
Anna, I think you're doing brilliantly. Keep going girl.
Louise, the massage sounds so relaxing, and it's all free, yeahhhhh.
Morning everyone, my girls are with their dad today so I have a dat to myself.... Trying to persuade a friend to come to ikea with me as I need a kitchen table.
Anna, the instructor of the running club should not have left without making sure you were ok, will you complain about it next time you go, will there be a next time?? You're right about going out with my girls. I'm going to watch the great north run on tv tomorrow to get some inspiration, I ran it with friends the last 2 years so hopefully it will kick start me into it again.
I'll be thinking of you today sparklinglime.
Loiuse, I hate feeling like I have so much to do and catch up with, it always makes me feel really anxious. Hope you get through your list of things ok.
Hi PQ, yes I get a bit jittery with lots to do but I find A LIST calms me amazingly. Any excuse for a list is what I say! Hope your day off goes well and let us know about the kitchen table. Any news on the decorating yet? (hides behind settee)
Sparkling, thinking of you today
Hazeleyes, I saw on another thread that you have a load of cleaning to do, yuk, poor you. I let things build up for ages and then do a Benny Hill and do it all in one fell swoop. I have what I call "my corner" even though it is a not a corner....in the lounge and that is what gets really messy with different books and papers.
How is everyone today? I am looking forward to the new series of Strictly tonight
Yay for strictly ..... I can't wait
i hope people are doing i just cannot wait now to hear what going on with my case it hard going and there been days i wanted to give up but i not done that..
at all as that not fair on me or the kids so going to look in to a room for my group so we can all chat up and have a chat tea ..coffee as well ..
so i been on line dont panic i just been doing my group also on line
Good morning
Sunday is upon us and I would like to know what is for dinner in your house...or tea if that is when you have your meal
How is everyone today? Youngest had a Big Night Out, is not at work today. He has got up to go to the loo and have a chat with me this morning and then gone back to bed. I will wait till later to ask how his deck shoes appeared to turn into giant hobnail boots as they stomped up the stairs at 4.30am
4.30? Don't expect him up til midday then Louise, hehe.
Yes, I did a clean yesterday, but didn't finish it all, but it's a bit more decent in here now.
Sparkling, hope you're okay. xx
pq, did you get the kitchen table?
Hi all.
Didn't get to ikea but have chosen a table from homebase. Going to get it delivered as it won't fit in my car. Its flat pack so not looking forward to that....may have to invite my dad down
4.30 eh loiuse, I think hazeleyes is right, you'll be lucky if he surfaces before mid day!
Sausage and mash for us tonight!
Yum, sausage and mash, I love that dinner, with lots of onions. I'm doing a chicken Korma. All on now, so won't be long. I'm starving!!
Am at the studios tomorrow with some of the kids. We're off to see Got a dance. C is so excited about going. Won't be back until 8pm, so will be a long day.
Ooh that sounds exciting, hazeleyes And a korma today, yum yum!
Don't talk to me about flatpacks, PQ, they are just but maybe this one might be different (she said, hopefully) Sausage ad mash sounds nice, we had that yesterday, I have got some gammon for later but son surfaced as soon as I got back from church and "wondered" about lunch so I made him egg and beans on toast. He looks a bit bog-eyed but he did the washing up. His friend went on a roulette machine somewhere and won £130 but spent most of it again. Obscene.
Eldest arrives tomorrow for a few days' visit. He got the fulltime job at TopMan so is very pleased. I have got him on my team for the curry and quiz night on Wednesday
How are you doing, sparkling?
Isn't it funny, i need to start decorating my kitchen but all of a sudden the ironing seems desparately important
Oh, PQ, we are all masters and mistresses of diversioanary tactics!
How is everyone today? Eldest is on the train to here so I had better finish getting his room ready
My MiL has phoned to say that a dear friend of mine has died. Feel rather bad as I had sent a message to her husband to see if she was up to lunch...
She's 43, and her daughter is coming up to 5. I'm so glad she was able to take her daughter for her first day at school, as for a while we couldn't be sure. Devastated for her husband.
