Well, finished the essay about midnight and sent to tutor to read through before I submit. Fingers crossed, everyone!
Hope you now had TWO good nights sleep, Sparkling.
No3 son is driving me mad again. He has been offered a place on a connexions (I know it's not called that anymore...) thing, 2 residential trips and a community thing, but he's being passively resistant. He really hates the unknown and this would be so good for him. 4 nights residential the other side of London (you know these outdoorsie things), then come home for the weekend, then go residential again closer to home, then a week off and then do something like a community project. I can't believe he's dithering! "but what if they are all idiots and I want to come home?' is his argument. aaahhhh!
Hi all. Not caught up with posts, so sorry if I've missed any exciting news. Feel as if I've abandoned One Space at the moment!!
Lots going on here at the moment, and nothing exciting or good really. Found out things at work, and I'm angry about it. It's to do with temp staff, and one in particular has been given the go ahead for September, no having to re-apply for her, nor did she even have an interview when she first joined. She is friends with a supply there, and that's how she got in. No experience or anything! Heard today, that someone else got in through the back door too, which is so ruddy unfair. Anyhow..... Ongoing problems with the trees in front and back garden too. Getting me down. I rang the council yesterday, and I don't qualify for something called 'Handyman' as although I have the disability, because of government cut backs, I wasn't able to claim disability, so council won't entertain me. I did say that my GP would write them a letter on my behalf, but they wouldn't have it. So, I rang MP's office. They are going to write to the council, and let me know what is happening. They too thought it unfair. I also put a note in neighbours door, a polite one I have to say.
Hope everyone else is okay. Only good thing right now is the gorgeous weather.
Good day everyone!
pq, I am sorry to read that A was in a bad mood again this morning, it does end up rubbing off on everyone else doesn't it, but then as you say, she seems to just shrug it off shortly after, not nice for H....or yourself.
Hi looby, long time no see, good to read that things are well and you are soon off on holiday, how lovely to spend a week in Cornwall.
Rosie78 Thai tapas sounds intriguiing but delicious, I love picking at food whilst chatting with girlfriends, one of my favourite past times actually!
hi hazeleyes, I was wondering where you were! Good to see you, albeit with not the best of news. How annoying to hear that a temp member of staff does not have to reapply for their job, that sounds very unfair. Also the aggro with the trees, well done for contacting your MP, hopefully this will help get some action taken.
The weather is delicious I agree and apparently it is set to carry on over the weekend too. Anyone got some interesting things planned for the weekend??
Have a lovely time in Cornwall looby. I went there when I was coming up to 16 with my sister, and fell in love with the place.
Loads of hugs hazeleyes - wasn't similar happening this time last year? xxx
My lot are always in a mood in the mornings. I think that's why I quite like it when I can just go to work when there's no school/college as they're still asleep!
Hello, ooh I love coming in here and catching up with what you have all been up to.
Another lovely morning out there and hope the weather is lifting any spirits that need lifting.
Sparkling hope you had another comfy night. Hopeful well done for cracking that last essay and trust the job will continue well.
PQ aagh teens and bad moods in the morning. Of course you can ignore it but as it is upsetting to H then I was wondering about making a funny game of it. You remember when you had the time with their cousins and you used their teen's moodiness to illustrate to your girls what a strop looked like? Maybe you could say to A (in a calm moment) "I have noticed you seem in such a bad mood in the mornings...in fact I was wondering about keeping a chart on it, and seeing how many mornings it was happening. You could get a tick for a good mood and a cross for a bad mood. I bet you a packet of fruit pastilles I will be able to put more crosses than ticks" Say this in front of H and wink at her. Then when the morning strop happens you say "ooh the chart, I can put a cross on it, zippy de doo dah" in a really unconcerned voice.
Hi Hazeleyes, good to see you back, sorry there has been trouble about some things for you, hope you get a result with the trees. Any more news about your own job?
Looby the hol sounds nice and so does your meal, Rosie78. There is a new Turkish place in town that does Meze, like tapas. Can't wait to go! It is lovely to have things to look forward to such as outings and trips, can keep you going during the hard bits!
What's everyone up to today? I have a friend coming over, who is a young people's counsellor, we did our training together so will be great to catch up with her
Well... Just one tiny patch of snow left on the mountains to melt now. I'm sure it will go today...
Glorious day again.
I'll be finishing late today. Colleague's granddaugher has her sports day. Last year it was cancelled as it poured. (She didn't ask, I offered :-) )
Like it Louise . I started the day on a different tack today and got a good result, normally I would just open A's bedroom door and say good morning but leave her to wake up on her own, this morning I sat on her bed and made a fuss of her told her I loved her etc and she was lovely to us all .
Driving to work this morning got a frantic call from A, the cat had brought a bird in and dropped it at the bottom of the stairs, it was flapping about but not able to fly. A was freaking out, wouldn't go downstairs and needed to leave to get her bus. Luckily our neighbour was home and he came to the rescue.
Hazeleyes, sorry about the 'goings on' at work, it does make you feel rubbish.
Its a bit chilly here at the moment but I think it will warm up as the day goes on.
Hi all, pq so glad to hear that you have found a tactic to keep A sweet in the mornings, will have to remember that for Monday morning! Glad you had a friendly neighbour who was able to extract the bird and ensure A's safe passage to school!
sparklinglime, it must be lovely watching the snow on the mountains, unfortunately here down south we had a very cloudy day. Oh well fingers crossed for the weekend.
Have a good one
morning have you all woken or been woken up to sunshine? There's a lovely blue sky here! Enjoy your days x
No sun here which is a little disappointing as I'm having a bbq this afternoon with the neighbours. Decided to put last weekends issues behind me and move forward, so I invited them round. We'll just have to put jumpers on!
Went out last night with people I worked with in my last job, we went to a greek restaurant, had a lovely evening, caught up wih people I only have time to wave at these days.
Glad you had a good night PQ and your idea of a little "special time" with A in the morning was a top one!!! Hope your bbq goes well.
Rosie78 have you got the weekend off work?
Sparkling how is the view of the mountains? Is the mattress still good?
Hazeleyes, what are you up to today?
Hopeful any news on the library being up and running any earlier?
Kiera how is your garden? I am having to water the flowers every night without fail. I have a white lilac that is my pride and joy.
Sarah how has your week been?
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will have been successful in my attempt to remove curry sauce from my (NEW) blue dress, it is in the washer now. Youngest is sporting shades with bright green frames 24/7 (well, presumably he takes them off to sleep?) I am reading a Tudor murder mystery which is full of total grisliness and I LOVE it.
It's glorious here again today. Rain forecasted for Tuesday, so we're making the most of it.
Youngest is poorly yet again. He's eating very badly since having the traintracks fitted. My friend has brought some special shakes over to help build him up!
Having said that the dog isn't enjoying the heat and is now wondering around the garden sieeing if the grass tastes good.
Enjoy the bbq pq. I'm sure the sun will be shining in time for it - well I hope so anyway.
Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend.
How was your BBQ PQ? Did your neighbors mention the other weekend at all?
Yes Louise off this weekend, on a long day in the week. X
Morning everyone, bit grey out there today. How are you all?
Rosie78 that is great that you have the weekend off, will you get chance to do something nice with the children today?
PQ how was the BBQ?
Sparkling sorry to hear that little J hasn't been eating too well, it must be hard to enjoy your food with the braces, is that it? Yes there is some rain coming over so we need to enjoy the good weather.
Youngest went to work at the nightclub last night as usual, it was a "rocking" night and for some reason involved a black shirt and white bow tie, of which he broke the fastening so Muggins had to mend it.
Hope you all have a good day
Been at my mums again Louise, had a lovely day in the garden yesterday With the paddling pool! Not sure what we're doing today. Maybe the park or indoor play if the weather isn't so good x
I have to say the weather here has been glorious. I had thought the whole country had the same, but it would seem we've been lucky.
To be fair though, this doesn't happen often for us.
There are still two patches of snow though, which my daughter and I are surprised at! I think it was last year that the last patch melted on 22 June.
Sounds like you had a great time with your Mum Rosie.
I have put the heating back on! It is sooooo cold here!
Uni smart card got here saturday, so that's something. To make up for it, my bursary (the one for April / May) has been mistakenly declined; I only know because I rang them to see what was up. This means they are not processing my travel expense claim either for now - so I am out of pocket by about £ 700. I am going mad with all this!!!
Eurgh Hopeful how stressful, will you definitely get it in the end? Glad you got the Uni card so you can get the essay signed off. Wow it has been chilly for you? Hope you get some sun this week,
Ah Rosie78, the children will have loved the paddling pool, did you go in yourself? It is nice that your mum is near enough to visit.
Sparkling you are usually the one who has gale force winds and lashing rain while the rest of us are saying how warm it is. It's been nice here but not too hot. I still sat near the open window at church in case of hot flushes!
Caught youngest staggering down the drive carrying a pile of plastic garden chairs and putting them in friend's car without asking. I opened the door and shouted "Hello, can I borrow the garden chairs mum?" He has been told to being them back from friend's BBQ tonight without fail otherwise he will be sent back to collect them. They were only cheap ones but I can see them disappearing permanently!
Hope everyone will have a good evening.
Hi all. Lovely day yesterday in the garden, though not as warm as Sparkling has had it! C and I had a bbq, which was great. Cut the grass too, which made me feel better. Today the sun hasn't shone, so this was the ideal opportunity for me to get some stuff done indoors. Just ordered Some mothers do ave em, as I'm sure C will be rolling around with laughter. Faulty Towers was a massive hit with him at Christmas.
Hope everyone is well.
Hi hazeleyes your Saturday sounded lovely, chilling in the back garden with freshly cut grass, C and a BBQ.
Louise I hope the garden chairs were returned that same evening and they were in the same condition as they went out in!
Hopeful, I am not surprised you are feeling pretty furious with regards to your bursary, presumably you will be on the phone first thing this morning, I hope that they sort it out quickly for you.
sparklinglime, my dog eats the grass, it drives me nuts! My neighbour says it is good for her, but I am not so sure It is soo hot for them isn't it.
Rosie78, I hope you had a good Sunday and it was just as relaxed as the Saturday at your mums.
Hi pq, I hope your bbq went well and jumpers weren't needed in the end. How did it go with A this morning?
Well today I have my stitches out of my leg, something I am not looking forward to, but hopefully this means I am on the mend, although or some reason I have a full on cold (how strange is that?!)
I remember having stitches out following a car crash, and it didn't hurt and I did feel able to move easier after. I hope you'll be ok Anna.
Another lovely morning here, but I believe we're back to normal tomorrow! I'd better dig out my jumper (which is actually on the back of my chair...)
House is quiet, dog is sulking. I think the middle two both finish college this week though, so I keep adding jobs to this little notebook I have. One job per page, which is not to be pulled out until the job is complete. I figure that way they won't be overwhelmed... Thinking about it though, I'd better list the jobs somewhere else so I know what I've put in it!
Plenty for me to do as well! I have my friend's VAT return to do this afternoon when I finish work.
Daughter still hasn't found a job, and is very upset that a rejection by Asda means she can't apply for another 6 months. I feel that's a bit harsh...
I hope everyone is ok.
Hi All,
The bbq on saturday was lovely, managed with just a cardigan so not toon bad. However on Sunday I was at another bbq and froze!!! I had a vest on a jumper and cardigan and trainers and I was still really cold....is it really June!!
Hope you're all having a good day.
Good luck with the stiches Anna, hopefully it wont be too awful for you?
Hi All,
Glad to hear that most of you have had a good weekend.
Did you get your chairs back Louise?
Anna how did you get on at the doctors? are you managing to spend sometime with your daughter or does she have other plans?
sparkling i know of other employers that have that same system of waiting for 6 months before being able to apply again, seems pretty cruddy to me, i hope she gets somewhere soon.
Haven't seen some mothers do ave em in absolutely ages, hope C likes it hazeleyes.
Well i had a relaxing weekend, i was trying to finish crocheting a blanket for my sister inlaw who is expecting in August and i think i might have sustained a strain injury to my thumb, it's stiff and hurts when i try to bend it, it wouldn't be so bad if i had managed to finish it, i still have the edging to go.
I have already done all the bursary phoning I can do. I will try to find out who is the boss there and email them. It is really ridiculous.
Good third day at work :-) Just my house to sort now, and the 'new lot' of benefits/tax credits....
Would anyone like to come and pack for me? No ironing involved, just packing. Sure I Can't tempt anyone?
I am sat here trying to keep myself awake. Went to see Bon Jovi at Villa Park yesterday and didn't get in until gone one this morning. It was so worth it, even though I have barely been able to speak all day and I have been so tired. Ex brought J home at quarter to seven this morning and he said that perhaps I was getting a bit old to be up so late on a school night. Flipping cheek (although I may perhaps agree with him, but ssshhh). My body will only have seven hours sleep and will then wake up, which is why I'm trying to stay awake. Could have gone to bed at eight but would have then been up at three!
Got J's class photo from school today. It's amazing. Just thinking back to how tiny they all looked at the beginning of September, they seem so grown up now. J is so ready to move to a different teacher. He really doesn't like the one he's got and she is not too keen on him. When she sent a not home in his reading record he said to me 'I just think that she doesn't like me'. Keep telling him not long now!
Ooh Bon Jovi, glad you enjoyed it Looby As for packing, I will only help if I can come on the holiday and pack myself too! When do you go?
PQ yes it is not so warm, but glad your BBQ was a success, I did get my chairs back in one piece but only after a text IN CAPITAL LETTERS, ha
Sparkling that is a shame about Asda. Did she do the application online? Whether or not, what I suggest is that she writes a letter to the HR people at the local branch after FIVE months saying how disappointed she was not to have got a job and she is really keen to work for Asda and when is the absolute earliest she can re-apply. Makes her stand out from the crowd. How was the VAT return?
Anna hope the stitches being out will improve things.
Sally, when does the blanket have to be ready? Hope your hand feels better today.
Hazeleyes, C must like really slapstick comedy, does he? How is work this week.
Hopeful, glad the job itself is going well and good luck with sorting out the money. It's so time consuming, isn't it?
Rosie how are you?
A very busy day in prospect at counselling. Am trying to think of ways of re-organising my work there to make it less stressful.
Take care all
Hi all,
Glad to hear your weekends were, mostly, enjoyable. I'm still recovering from mine - we had a community music festival up at the primary school - it was fantastic. The pre-school, Beavers, Cubs, Church etc all did a little singalong in the afternoon before we had local musicians and bands on in the evening. It was freezing by 9pm but we didn't give up and stayed til the 'bitter' end!
My girls are finally back to good health - We've had 3 weeks of bed hopping, coughing fits in the night and sick days (it cost me a fortune in lost hours ) but we're back on track. Phew.
I'm now out of work until 1st July when I start a summer teaching contract so am trying not to panic about the finances. I think 'head in the sand' is my only option, and putting all the pennies I can in the Savings account until the end of the month.
The festival sounds fantastic, I am sure all the children had a brilliant time. As for the money, yerrrrs, nice not to be at work but I sense a budget looming on the horizon. Glad all the family are well again
Looby, I will pack for you, if you unpack for me the next time I've been away! Packing really isn't so bad. :-p
Am procrastinating again. Sigh. Will check in later.
Hi all, have just popped home after indoor play as raining as chilly here today! Then off to my oldests new school, she starts in sept, they are having a clothing sale preloaded uniform. Hoping to pick up a jumper so she can have a spare one And I'll buy her a new one too. Will see if they have any other bits.
I like packing but hate unpacking and doin all the washing!!
im off to work tomo for a long day shift. Will miss my babies but do enjoy my work.
nice of you to do your friends VAT return sparkling?!
x
Hi all, stitches out wasn't so bad thanks for your well wishes. Problem is now that the stitches weren't done very well so have a gaping hole, I was hoping to get some jobs done in the afternoon, but it is very sore, so am back to keeping leg elevated.
Rosie78 I hope you find some decent 2nds uniform, it gets so expensive doesn't it!
Hopeful, how is your day going, are you sorting the house today? How is the paperwork going for the tax credits going? (Top tip: Try and photocopy if possible, saves time and questions at a later date) It is great to hear that day 3 nursing is still going well, good for you!
Hi sarahb34, saving pennies is always a better start than burying your head. Your weekend sounded good!
Looby I will not hear of you complaining about the packing, just chuck it in there. Underwear, tshirts, jeans and warm tops. Towels, toiletries, a book for you and a few of J's toys, this is supposed to be part of the fun bit!!
pq glad the bbq went well, it has been so glorious recently but this week it is cloudy and grey, what a shame eh?
sparklinglime, your poor girl, mine is in the same boat, she keeps applying and then getting turned down. My daughter just takes it so personally, which is ridiculous. I remember being her age though and being able to walk in and out of jobs so easily.
Sorry to hear about your thumb Sal, make sure you rest it!!
Louise, glad you got YOUR CHAIRS BACK safely!! I hope that you have found a solution to the busy Tuesday?
Not sorting house out today, tax credits will be on the phone. If I have to fill in one more form for anything I shall scream!!!
No3 son in trouble again - he got into the school van (which wasn't locked or the window was down) with a mate, they let the handbrake off and promptly rolled into another staff member's car. Luckily no damage. No3 son says it wasn't anything like that and he didn't do anything apart from get in (I so don't believe him) and he's not saying sorry to anyone. Grrrr. Head of school says it's so sad, they just seemed to get somewhere and No3 son is the best ever academic achievement at that school, so he'll leave on a sad note, so disappointing.
No2 son has applied for an IT apprenticeship and they've said they have to check funding - that sounds very positive. Fingers crossed!
Handed in that essay - of cause printer card wouldn't work, so it was a right panic. That's it now, nothing left to do uni-wise. Just wait for the results.... :-)
Hi Hopeful. I'm sorry your so has got in a pickle. He seems to have been a bit settled for a while. I'm glad you got the essay in - does it feel odd being uni free?
I'm sorry your knee is sore Anna. I know when I had stitches out it took a while to heal - but that's because it wasn't a clean cut in the first place. I do hope it is soon better.
Ah the chairs - are they back where they belong Louise?
Happy packing looby!
I hope everyone is ok.
You'll all be delighted to here that the weather has broken here, and we've had rain and wind today...
This comment has been moved here.
Hi sarah, I moved the comment to a new thread in parenting support so you can get some proper feedback about it and it won't get lost in the chatroom!
Hopeful WELL DONE in getting your essay in. Oh dear re no 3 son, but isn't it fab to know what academic acheivements he had made at that school? (looking at the positive)
Ooh sparkling, sorry to hear you have had wind and rain, the heating came on here at counselling today, eeek!
The seventeen year old is trying to be brave about the weather, commenting on how "we're back to normal". I sometimes feel he has SAD syndrome.
Ah well....
Just popping in to give everyone a quick hello, and a wave. Hope you're all doing okay, not getting up to mischief hehe. Weather is absolutely awful. I'm sure this isn't really June!!!
Just popping in to give everyone a quick hello, and a wave. Hope you're all doing okay, not getting up to mischief hehe. Weather is absolutely awful. I'm sure this isn't really June!!!
I'm blooming freezing, but I am NOT putting a jumper on.
Hello everyone,
My laptop is truely unhappy so only able to pop on when at work...shh don't tell anyone! Hope everyone is ok
hi everyone well rainin hard in north west and windy, im waitin in for my 11 year old sons new laptop, it bein delivered at sum point today, he starts big school sept, hope everyone okx
It is cold today and the leaves are falling off my cherry tree! Looks like autum has arrived already!! Feeling low today. Have so much to do and either can't find the motivation to get on with it or have to wait for something else before I can get on with it. Feel like in getting nowhere fast!
I hate days like that Rosie, can you just pick one job and do that, then you will go to bed feeling like you've achieved something
Hi all, I really notice that the weather affects my mood, unless I have something really fun going on! Sometimes when I am feeling really blue I try and think of what upcoming situation would cheer me up - a phone call from my bestie or if I was about to catch a bus to the airport. These thoughts often make me realise it is often just a mood I am in and I can change it!
Morning everyone
It's Friday so I hope that will cheer up those who are feeling blue. What plans for the weekend? Tomorrow I am going on my annual Quiet Day with the counselling place, where we have prayers and meditation in the lovely rose garden, not that we can be in the garden much if the weather is like this, heh heh.
Seeing my friend later, a nice reward for getting all my work done
Sorry to hear about your laptop PQ. Hope you will have a decent day, my eldest is flat hunting so that's quite exciting. What news from everyone?
Hi All,
Had a night out with my friend last night, she's having a torrid time with her ex at the moment which is upsetting her little boy, its such a shame. We got to have a good moan and a laugh so I hope she's feeling brighter today.
My best friend from school is getting married over the weekend so I'm going to her 'wedding party' on saturday night, no ones been invited to the actual wedding apart from parents and their children. Then on sunday I have another date, which is quite exciting! So lots going on for me!
Louise I hope you enjoy your quiet day, it sounds very relaxing.
hi everyone well sunny so far, hung all my washin out, meant rain later, goin pickin up my little girl photos from nursery, she is really posing on um,she looks lovely on um, full length as well, then got drivin lesson, then pic my son up from school ,then my little girl from nursery then goin home, makin shepherds pie for tea, hope everyone okx
Hi pq, it can create a new lease of life having a good moan and laugh with friends cant' it, I hope your friend did wake up feeling stronger. Your weekend sounds like it is going to be a good one. Good luck with the date, is he a new one?
kiera, you sound like you have been busy today. I'd forgotten that you were having driving lessons, how are they going? You said you were picking your son up from school, where is your other son? Or does he walk on his own now? I hope you have a lovely supper and evening.
Louise, your Quiet Day sounds delicious, I do hope the weather is nice so that you get the fresh air and sunshine too.
I am looking forward to a quiet weekend, my daughter is preparing herself for her week in Zante with girlfriends, I am still unable to get back on my bike, so am pretty much homebound although a friend may pop in tomorrow eve for a take out! I am thinking Wagamama's - yum yum!!
Have a good one everyone!
I'm sorry you're not able to ride your bicycle yet Anna. How painful is it? I hope you have a lovely weekend with your daughter.
Hi Looby,
Your trip to cornwall sounds lovely, it's nice that you and J's dad are able to co-ordinate yourselves.
Rosie, Thai Tapas?...sounds intersting. I don't go to bournmouth much but next time I do I'll look it up.
Well my morning started off the same, A is in a terrible mood which rubs off on H so she was in tears this morning....happy days!
