Thanks for the advice, Louise. I think if I can aim to be ultra organised during the week, the weekend can be a time to kick back and be unscheduled.
This weekend has been lovely so far - kids back this afternoon after camping with their grandparents and I had a night out last night in my local. I used to be a professional singer (back in the day, before kids!) and still do local gigs now and again for a bit of extra money. Last night my colleagues from school came along to support me and we had a fantastic night bouncing off each other and having fun. Made me feel all warm and glowing inside!! Now I've got to go and pick up the kit as I left it all down there and walked home at 1am this morning
I'm an absolute genius and a hero as far as my lot are concerned.
Router sorted!
Well done to C hazeleyes.
Off to check emails etc...
It seems that autumn has arrived here.
Oh no, not autumn already, we haven't had summer yet, it's pretty chilly here though.
Sarahb sounds like a fab time, that's really interesting about your singing, good for you keeping it up. Hope you got all your kit back intact.
Sparkling, hooray the router is sorted, strange how much we depend on the Net these days
Well it is my day off tomorrow and I will see what the weatherman says as I am planning a day out in the countryside and lovely scenery (but won't be able to see it through driving rain, heh heh)
Hope everyone has a brilliant evening, is anyone watching White Queen?
Hi All,
Had a good weekend. Mil came round for lunch yesterday.
I was interested to read your post Looby about remembering why you married your ex. I was thinking the very same thing last night as my ex has been displaying the occasional behaviour that reminds me of the man I used to know. I found my feelings quite confusing
Sparkling...or should we call you 'supermum'....well done you. I fixed the lock on my front door on saturday and my girls were looking at me with complete amazement, however later in the day my eldest said she wouldn't want me to put shelves up in her bedroom, "no offense mum!"
well ad fantastic nyt sat nyt, went out for my dawter birthday,ad gud dance got in 3.30am,. bit hungover but fine, hope everyone ok,weather not to good here in north westx
Hello all, I had just done a long post commenting individually on everyone's weekend, but managed to somehow completely lose it!
I love reading your news and glad everyone had a good weekend! There have been proud moments for ourselves (sparklinglime) and for our children (kiera & hazeleyes), there have been moments where we have seen the man we once knew and loved (Looby & pancakequeen) and hopefully this will be a positive thing, it shows that you weren't completely bonkers when you said 'I do'! Some of us have rekindled an old love (sarahb34) and found it to be incredibly satisfying! And one of us is just happy to be feeling a little more positive this weekend (Rosie78) and I am sure that will include Hopeful too, her work is done and she was able to relax on Saturday morning!! I hope Louise got her fire alarm sorted and is having a great day in the countryside.
Finally BIG welcome to pw, great to have you on board, working full time is hard work when raising a child on your own, especially as the summer holidays loom, however it are great resources to help you get by! How are you finding it?
This comment has been moved here.
Hello everyone, great to hear your news. Interesting about our feelings for our former partners. I have just found out that my boys' dad has a new girlfriend, first time in 15 years, I am glad for him. However, I would love to be a fly on the wall when he takes her to a big family party they are all having later in the summer
Glad you had a good night out kiera and good luck for court today.
Anna how is your leg, are you a bit more mobile?
Lovely day yesterday, went out into the countryside, a lovely deserted lake, with water so clear and beautiful. TWO posh coffees as well My boys are with their grandparents and each is texting me things that are annoying them about the other one! Quite comical really...though am NOT adjudicating!
Have a good day everyone and let us know what you're up to
Nice and sunny here today.
Going out with some work colleagues tonight for a leaving 'do' and trying to cope with my dodgy haircut until it gets sorted on thursday.
Oh and working........
Gorgeous day here too! Have a fun evening pq, I am going to have a quiet one tonight I think.
Louise my leg is a lot better and I am more mobile, however I wanted to attend yoga last Thurs, but didn't feel that it was well enough unfortunately. I WILL go this week!
Your Monday sounded lovely
Helloooo to everyone (waving) hope you are all well?
I have been catching up with so many friends - it's really nice. Went on a 6 mile walk with two of them today. Work is fine and I am now waiting for that all important pin number to come through! :-)
I'm waving back...
Morning, hope everyone is well today
Hopeful, your day sounds good and I was glad to read on the other thread that there had (finally!) been some progress with the Bursary office.
Anna I am pleased to hear that your leg is getting better and hope you are able to go to sweaty yoga this week
Did you have a good night out, pq?
What's everyone up to today? Some shopping errands for me and a bit of Wishee Washee I believe, and probably hosing youngest down after his trip to his grandparents.
I'm just clock watching... I might as well just go to work early!
Sun is now breaking through the clouds...
I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning all,
I had a lovely evening, thanks louise, although I have an awful garlic after taste lingering this morning, breath mints will be in order I think!
Morning sparkling, don't go in early, do something for yourself instead.
Usual wednesday stuff for me here today at work.
Hi all, another beautiful day down south
sparkling, i hope that you got in and out of work without doing any overtime?
pq, I hope that the food was good and lingering taste worth it!
Louise I hope that you are enjoying having your boy home. My daughter returns from her Greek Island adventure tomorrow, so no doubt I shall be getting my hose out too!
We went to Pizza express, going there again tonight with a friend so I will avoid the Bosco salad tonight!
Anna, I hope your daughter has had a fab time and doesn't have too many horror stories to share with you!
Hi One and All,
Popping in to wish you all well and let you know today is my last time on for a while as i'm leaving the boards due to other work commitments, i shall be back periodically to help cover when Anna or Louise are off galivanting the globe, and will be looking forward to catching up on whats been going on for all of you when i do visit the boards.
It has been a privellege getting to know you all.
Bye for now.
Sally
Thanks Sally, all the best x
Good bye Sal and thanks for all your support over the months
Best wishes Sally.
I hope you have a great reunion with your daughter Anna.
Enjoy your tea pq
Sally we will miss you Thanks for all your help and support, much valued by us all.
How is everyone today? PQ did you avoid the garlic this time?
Am missing Hazeleyes....hope you are ok, H.
Sparkling, how are you today?
Anna trust your daughter got home Ok. My youngest has got the weekend off so I am wondering just who will be here when I wake up in the morning, is such a new feeling to have the girlfriend here though I like her very much.
I went to a book quiz last night, it happens twice a year and different book groups submit a team, maximum of 6 people. There were 9 teams last night and we came third! The teams who came first and second were comprised of professional librarians so our bonces were the size of Mr Potato Head's and we could hardly get out of the door afterwards
Nice one Louise and your team!
I was wondering about Hazeleyes, hope she's ok?
I had a lovely meal with my friend last night, and yes I avoided the garlic. We took a voucher to save some money on the food but ended up spending loads on wine so a bit of false economy going on there.
Its really greand drizzley here. hope it picks up for the weekend.
Ha ha pq, your message tickled me! Me and a particular friend always have problem! We have vouchers, or go to a restaurant early for a deal, but then spend a fortune on the alcohol. I guess that is their plan anyway, as wine is always hugely marked up.
My daughter has arrived home safe and sound after having a brilliant holiday it seems. The boys upstairs from them were caught peeing off the balcony on their last night and then it was found that they had caused over £1000 damage to their room, so were ringing their parents, grandma's and uncles to try and raise the money before they could leave. Disgraceful behaviour, I would be so ashamed, if they were my children.
I hope everyone has sunshine and relaxation over this weekend.
It's a once a blue moon day here with The Git and Gittess taking the children out to a big city shopping centre.
My purse is empty, naturally, giving them spending money.
Why oh why they can't take them for a day out for a walk and a picnic I've no idea.
Good to see that the two younger ones were miserable as heck going. One wanting to be on the PS3 and the other wanting to see his friend who's home for the holidays. Hope they sulk all day so The Git sees the best side of them.
Meow...
I do think I'm entitled to be bitter for two minutes.
I can't decide whether to have a cleaning day and a crafting day (crafting is quite high on the list) or just go back to bed. The dog looks tired. Perhaps a lazy day for me after having to get up to get them ready on time. As bad as a school/college morning.
Probably just as well I don't have a bank balance and legs that work, or I'd be out shopping
Oldest's card has been blocked due to 'fraudulent use' - so no idea what's happened there. He needed money. I told him my purse was empty. Bet he's regretting not having given me the amount I'd asked for this month. Perhaps I'll go to the hole in the wall later for him. We shall see.
Morning everyone
Wow some free time for you sparkling, make sure you really enjoy it and do whatever YOU want to do. Hmm, I am with you with the offspring not handing over the money..every month I say to my youngest why don't you give me some extra money as well as your board, I will give you it back a week before your next payday, but oh no, that's too simple! I went out with some friends last night, got home at the shockingly late time of 9.30 to find he was asleep...he was due at work at the nightclub at 10, I woke him, hustled him into the shower and then into the car and got him there at 9.59. Hope your four get through the day ok.
PQ yes drinks are always expensive in restaurants. My friend gets round this by asking for tap water to drink!!!!!!!! bit disappointing though, for a night out is it pancakes for brekky at your house?
Anna, glad your daughter got back OK, yes there is a lot of damage done by some holidaymakers, how dreadful. I was discussing holiday currency with my son yesterday, he said he needed me to take him to the bank as he didn't want to carry all that cash around. So, I said, you are quite happy to carry it on two trains, then through Manchester airport, through to your resort hotel in a notorious area, but not to bring it home from the bank on the number 2 bus
Lucky you were home on time Louise! Your childrens antics (and the way you write it) do make me smile.
My oldest is working so was quite happy! He's going to a car show next weekend which is close to the other parent, and has said that he might go... He didn't make it there last year. I'm not surprised there though, as I know my brother and sister would leave about 18 months between visits home. I'm not expecting anything more for this lot when they leave.
I'm sure they will leave... Eventually.
Hoping the weather will stay dry as I am going to this with a friend later: http://www.khushifeet.org.uk
Wishing everyone a fantastic day!
No pancakes today. I have my friends boys for a sleepover today so I've promised them for breakfast tomorrow.
i looked at the link hopeful. It looks like good fun. Have you done any Bollywood dancing before?
glad you're getting a day off sparkling. It doesn't really matter what you do as long as you enjoy yourself.
i'm going to home base later for an appointment with a bathroom designer, see what they suggest.
Ooh that looks good, Hopeful. I have been looking today for somewhere to stay later in the year on a break and one place had a "Bollywood room" (out of my price range unfortunately) Let us know if you went along.
Good luck with the designer, PQ, and even better luck with the boy guests, eek
Did you manage some relaxing time, sparkling?
I have been hearing a blow-by-blow account of "My Girlfriend Is Sulking Because I Was Seen Talking To Another Girl Last Night" He then went off wearing shorts, bare legs and a beanie hat
I've had a very lazy day, although I have done four loads of washing.
All out the window when they came back home though...
Looks like it might rain here...
hi everyone, cloudy today in north west.sun tryin to cum out, hung all washin out anyway, my eldest dawter cumin for dinner but im doin spag bol for change, all kids love tht, my younger son bin at mates since yesterday, he slept, i think ive pulled tendon in botton my leg, hurts, all walkin i do i think, hope evryone ok
Ooh kiera I hope your leg is better soon. Hopefully you have had a good weekend now YOUR leg is getting better, Anna?
Spag Bol yum, I love it too. My son was out with friends so I had a strange concoction of tuna and rice. How is your daughter, kiera?
Sparkling are you feeling a bit calmer after what you had to endure yesterday? As you say, that might be it till Christmas now
How did the sleepover go, PQ?
I have got The Girlfriend staying over tonight (they have made up)
Perhaps you son will make you both a cup of tea in the morning Louise.
Today I ran away from home. Not that I was missed!
Good morning everyone
Welcome back Looby, I can so sympathise with your feelings. Life is full of moments like that. Hopefully J will have another lovely week on the holiday and you can have some Looby time.
Hi Rosie, your day sounds nice. Let's hope the children's dad does start being more co-operative. However, if he doesn't then you can still get on with your life on a day to day basis and make things as positive as possible for you and the children
I got a whole new smoke alarm yesterday, realised that mine has probably not been reliable since eldest attacked it in a fit of fury after a toast incident. This morning I have to haul youngest out of bed..he has slept very briefly after shifts at both Asda and the nightclub...and put him on a train to Leeds, where eldest will haul him off and get him onto the train to Birmingham, as they are both going to visit their grandparents (dad's parents) for a couple of days.
What is everyone up to today?
