Hi everyone, well the update, gosh what a day xxx

He came out of surgery about 3.30pmish, so that seemed to be about what we thought.

My eldest son offered to take everyone up to the hospital tonight, not me of course but the children, mow my opinion was that my little boy at 10 was too young to go but to be honest I got that much grief off eldest son about being tight and its not fair as his dad wanted to see him etc that I did let him go, well I now have 3 traumatised children, youngest is absolutely fine its the 3 big ones.

He is wired up to allsorts of drips and monitors and also has 2 blood bags and is catheterised(not sure if speeling correct) so you can imagine thats not a pretty sight in itself but they also said how poorly he looks and how old.

I really did try to prepare them for how it would be but they didnt listen and all believed he would be sat up in bed doing a little jig!!!!!!!!

I have told them that hopefully once he has had chance to rest overnight that he will seem much more himself tomorrow, not entirely sure I am right but it seems the best thing to say right now.

Thank you all for being there, its so nice and so very kind of you all to keep asking even when I dont have chance to post as much for the moment, it really touches me that you havent forgotten me, thank you xxxSmile

We'd never forget you tiredmum Smile You did your best to tell your children what it would be like, tubes etc, and understandably they still wanted to see him, so I hope you're not feeling bad tonight. Hopefully, like you say, your ex will be a bit more of himself, if not tomorrow, then in a few days. I'm glad the whole hospital thing hasn't upset your youngest. Wierd how at their age, they see things differently perhaps. I do hope you all get a good night sleep. Take care. xx

Hi sparklinglime, hazeleyes, thank you to you both xxx

Little one is fine, he has been very mature about everything and we have talked it through so he hasnt gone to bed with any worries or at least not for now. His biggest worry was the blood bags closely followed by not liking lifts, oh to be 10 again right now xxx

I did call the hospital too to ask how he was doing and did explain that the children although warned were unprepared for how their dad would look, the nurse was lovely, his obs are good and he is resting so that has now been circulated to all children.

Its been a difficult day to say the least BUT I am fine, just having a nice coffee and a little me time to unwind.

I do hope you are both ok and having the best school hols you can, I will catch up on all your posts asap and thank you again for being there xxxSmile

Hello tiredmum

Thank you for taking the time to post, we have all ben thinking about you but knowing that you were busy.

Glad that the youngest wasn't too bad, as for the older ones in a way it is a rite of passage, a step towards adulthood, when we see someone we love very ill or failing (I was 19 when this happened and my grandad died). He WILL look a great deal better in a couple of days, I am sure....and you know what? whilst we naturally want to protect our children from pain and sorrow, in one sense we need to let them see that side of things, as they get older, otherwise adult life might feel like driving down the motorway without taking any lessons. But that is a tough call.

Thinking of you. I don't suppose you got much sleep but try and get your feet up for  while today at least

Hi tiredmum, it is great to read your update. Although it was hard for your children, what was really nice was that they did it together and looked after each other and no doubt built another brick into their bond.

Good luck with your meeting - oh mi - in an hour. Let us know how it goes. Does your friend have this dreadful cold that is going around, or is it worse than that? Keep your hanky close by :)

Fingers crossed. Oh and tiredmum, I am sure I have asked this before, but why do you drink coffee (a stimulant) in the middle of the night?? Undecided Laughing

That's one thing I like about my lot is how they'll support each other at time (note the 'at times').

Hi everyone thank you for all your posts xxx

Anna in answer as to why I drink coffee, I like it, simple as that, its not to keep me awake, it actually has been tried where I dont drink it say after 6pm and my sleep pattern doesnt change so coffee and I are fine xxx

My friend has been poorly on and off for approx 2 years, worryingly right now she is a yucky shade of yellow, I am very worried about her, hopefully the doctors will finally get to the bottom of whats going on, she has also lost a lot of weight recently, something she can ill afford to do as she is very petite to start with, she eats loads but the weight has dropped off her.

The childrens father is home and settled in, he is very sore and extremely tired but is doing as well as he is expected to be doing after such an operation, the children have been to see him briefly earlier but didnt stay long as they understand his need to rest.

Ok thats all of the negatives I think now to the positive!!!!!!! I feel there should be a drum roll here ha ha xxx

In around 5 days time we WILL be a company ltd by guarantee, I am the director and my friend company secretary, its been a long hard road to get where we are BUT its so worth it!!!!!!!! This is only the beginning and a lot more hard work is ahead but we now feel we are getting there.Laughing

                                 Congratulations

Woo hoo! Well done you and your friend!

I am sorry to hear about your friend, is it the same friend that you are going into business with?

I hope that the doctors can get to the bottom of it all, very worrying for her, but you also.

I ask about the coffee, because I can't drink it after midday! (I'm turning into my mother Surprised), but I love coffee and accidentally bought some De-caff last year......it is loverly, so now I can drink it whenever I want Smile

So what are you going to do to celebrate your great news??

Glad your children's dad is progressing.

Sorry to hear about your friend, if she is yellow it sounds like something to do with her liver, doesn't it?

Hope her illness will not hamper your plans, Mrs Director, we will have to curtsey to you now Smile Seriously I am thrilled to bits for you WOW and DOUBLE WOW!!!!

Hi Louise,

It does sound like a liver problem but the doctor isnt much help, mpre tests etc so another appt booked for next week with different doctor.

It remains to be seen if it will hamper us, she tries so hard for it not to but on a bad day well she really does need to rest, we do have others who will help out though so it will be ok, just want her to get better thats far more important than worrying about who will do what xxx

An appointment booked for next week? It does madden me, it really does. The Dr must be able to see the colour of the skin, surely must see the weight loss, if not see it, then listen to the patient. I really do hope she is ok tiredmum. Another worry for you.xxx

Hazeleyes it got so silly today, the doctor even asked and I quote "so why did you fall down the stairs" my friend had had enough at this point and said well I was so bored and thought oh I know I will just fall down the stairs to amuse myself for a little while!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to add that she had already told him the full story about how her legs just go completely numb and she falls.

I am very worried about her, she looks dreadful but we will muddle through it as always xxx
