Hi Lush
Good to see you here
Hi there
Today the sun has been shining and the cold breeze that has been around all week seems to have eased up a little :)
I too hear that the weekend is due to be delicious. I just looked at the forecast. Tomorrow is going to be lovely then Sunday it is going to return to our usual UK weather that we know and love!
Make sure all bbq's, sun lounging and wine drinking is done on Saturday, have fun!
Hi Lush, nice to see you again, hows tricks? How is your son enjoying school? Did you know we have another member from Botswana??
What have you been up to? Where have you been?? Look forward to catching up :)
Hello Lush
Good to see you again? i have been wondering how you are, let us know all your news
Hi stuart
Hope the trampoline gets delivered today and you and children can enjoy the sunshine!
The forecast is really good, let us have a full weekend report please :-)
I hope it arrived too...
Morning everyone.
Start of another working week whooooooo.
Yer the trampoline came 10.30 saturday morning, the sun was shining and the children were excited. Took about 2hours to build then they were off kids bouncing 4 hours.
Sunday more of the same but we had a bbq was a good day a few beers laughs and music.
Hope everyone hope a good weekend
Take care
Stuart
That sounds fab, Stuart. It is Bank Holiday next weekend so everyone will get an extra day woo-hoo! What are you planning? There is a local Gala here on the Monday, we like the parade beforehand and seeing all the neighbours out and about
Hello louise you have a good weekend hello to everyone else.
The children are at there mums this weekend so got a free weekend.
Thinking of taking the children to a farm on monday to feed the farm amimals.
An if the weathers good maybe another bbq.
What about you louise you going to catch up with the locals.
Stuart
Hi everyone, stuart your weekend sounds very relaxing - after the 2 hours of trampoline assembly that is!
Louise your carnival sounds fun. There is a carnival near us too, we go nearly every year, it is often the only time I bump into old friends! On Saturday there is Jack in the Green, a celebration of the start of the summer. He is a 9foot green man who is dressed up in many leaves and looks like a huge bush, he dances his way through town and at the end of the walk Jack must die to release the Spirit of Summer!
The children can follow him and there is also Morris Dances that join in too!
Some great plans there, stuart and a bit of free time too, heh heh. Make sure you get a bit of a rest when you can, your life is very busy. The farm sounds a good idea, it is far to travel?
Anna, aren't little ones scared of Jack in the Green? Mine even used to be scared of Santa if he came to todddler group!
I used to go to the local Gala every year but now tend just to go to the parade. I was in it one year as I helped run an Easter club for children called......The Smelly Yellow Welly Club and we had a great song to sing as we were all sitting in the trailer driving round the parade route. What was lovely was that the parade gets "stuck" later in its route and everyone is outside their houses and comes and talks to you and you give them sweets and one person was even making cups of tea! (.....and then everyone ignores each other for the rest of the year...)
Ha ha! Not all the children are scared, my daughter used to be, she always used to scream and hide when there was a Mickey Mouse or any other character walking around town. I suppose they could be pretty frightening, these huge creatures reaching their arms out to you for a hug!
Hello everyone
How is every doing you all looking forward to the bank holiday break.
My middle child C he is scared stiff of clowns runs a mile when he sees one bless him.
Just hope the weathers nice at the weekend might take the dog down to the beach an give him a run out.
Take care everyone
Stuart
Well each child is scared of something different, I guess.
How far are you from the beach, Stuart?
Hello Louise
I live about 5mins away from blackpool in the car. Will take him to lytham St annes its nice there.Walk along the seafront hope the suns out lol.
Yer spiders are the worse in are house they scare the life out of the kids.
When kids are not there i have no one to run around after and its to quiet. If i sit down for more than 5mins i nod off lol.
We watched avatar on wednesday night very good film we all really enjoyed it would recommend it for a family night movie.
Take Care everyone
Stuart
That's brilliant to be so near the sea, Stuart. I lived in Scarborough when my eldest was born, 20 years ago. Visited Morecambe last autumn, it struck me that it had been really run down and they were trying to regenerate it.
I know what you mean about nodding off if it is too quiet, lol.
Haven't seen Avatar, I had wondered if it was 3D on the DVD and how that worked but I think it is just as normal is it?
Hi there, we haven't seen Avatar yet, but hoping to soon. I wanted to get a 3D version so we could all sit around in silly specs, but I don't think that is possible!
Weather for the weekend is rubbish round my way, rain and showers are forecast, however it will be lovely to have 3 days off work :)
I put Avatar in my trolley on Monday, and we watched it on Tuesday - made tea early especially!!
We really enjoyed it.
I know its extravagant, but it would cost over £30 for the five of us to go to the cinema...
Yes, the cinema can be really costly, not to mention the annoyance of the other people sitting behind you, lol.
Glad you all enjoyed it.
What does the bank holiday weekend hold?
Hi louise
Yer morecambe was a run down place but it has had a face lift.
Avatar is just normal on the dvd but i bet it looks good in blue ray an on hd tv its full of great colours.
Take Care all
Stuart
Hi there, we watched Avatar and stuart it was on HDTV and BlueRay! It was great!
I had heard lots of negative feedback about the film, we loved it. I especially liked the idea us all being in one big network and if we all work together we can acheive great things!
I have heard lots of good reports of this film now.
Stuart, how did your weekend go? Did you manage to get down to the beach?
Hi anna and louise.
Yer avatar is a very good film amazing what people come up with an use there imagination.
My weekend was relaxing and quiet do miss it when kids not there got nothing to do or run around after.Had plenty of rest a beer or two and just chilled out.
Weather wasent to good so walked the dog round the large field at the back of my house its lovely.
How was your weekends ladies you do anything exciting.
Take care all
Stuart
We have been so lucky with the weather over the weekend - even if it was chilly! Shame I was ill...
Drizzle and cold here today. Hmmm.... Wonder if that was summer?!
Now then, sparkling lime, there will be more sunny times to come!
Hi stuart, I was working over the weekend as I am in the final throes of a counselling qualification and got lots of assignments to finish, but I did go to the local carnival and parade on Monday. Hope you enjoyed your (brief) rest!
What sort of dog do you have?
Hi louise and sparkling lime
My dog is a black and white collie and hes called ben, we got him from a dogs home his last owner had dumped him.He is a real family dog soft and gentle, hes house trained and paws you when he wants to go out.
On monday took the kids to a wild boer park in garstang the boys loved it the daughter said it was boring ( lol teengaer for you ). It had wild boer, sheep, deer, larma, peecock, pot belly pigs, donkeys, meerkats.
We took a picnic and had a good day,but it feels funny when you see mums and dads together and your there on ya own lol.
Did you and your daughter have a nice time together at the parade.
You feeling better now sparkling lime.
Stuart
Hi all
It sounds as though nearly everyone had a nice Bank Holiday.
stuart, when I was small we had a black and white collie called Ben!! He died when I was about 15, I was devastated.
Sounds like your picnic was fun, how is your week going?
Your day out sounds good, stuart, I know what you mean about everyone else seeming to have mums and dads there, that seems to be one of the drawbacks of Bank Holidays. However, 25% of children these days are in single parent families so we do not need to feel on our own and maybe some of the people you saw were parents who had teamed up together or had aunties and uncles there.
I am glad your dog is such an important part of the family, isn't it a coincidence that his name is the same as sparkling lime's dog when she was a child? I have only got a goldfish these days, his name is Bob le poisson!
Hi Louise, it was my dog called Ben! He was such a good boy, so faithful, he would be able to tell when I was upset and needed him to lie down and be cuddled and also when to be springy and bouncy!!
stuart I used to think that everyone was a happy family except for me, but Louise is right, it is highly unlikely that all that you saw was what you thought!
Happy working monday to you all.
Hows everyones weekend been.
Had a really good day sunday my youngest son was in a footy tornament for under 8s.His team normally come last but hey this weekend they won play 5 won 4 lost one was very impressed.Hey got a medal and was praised for how well he played. Was so proud of him and he also got player of the week a footy training on friday.
Was also my daughter 15th birthday on saturday my god where has the time gone.We got her a bd cake and sang happybirthday to her wasent impressed.
Watched man utd game shame we lost the title but hey you carnt have everything ): lol.
Stuart
Hi Stuart
Glad you had a good weekend. These children soon grow up!
My youngest plays with the town's under 11's. There's a few tournaments coming up (which I don't like as they seem to take all day!).
Hi stuart
That's good news about the football match.
I had to smile about what you said about your daughter. I think all 15 year olds are permanently embarrassed by everything that happens to them!
I suppose Man U is one of your local teams. There are great celebrations over here (the other side of the Pennines) because Leeds Utd has been promoted. I don't follow football but with two sons I have little choice but to know about it.
What does your week hold?
Hi stuart
I bet your son was beaming with his player of the match medal! Good for him!
Congrats to you on your daughter turning 15! As I have said before mine is 15 too and I just can't believe it!
Funny though, one minute she can seem sooo grown up and the next she seems to revert to a 10 year old!! I guess this is just another phase!
Is your daughter in the first year of her GCSE's? What does she want to do in the future? Does she know yet?
Hello anna, louise an ladies
yer anna my daughter is doing GCSE now,she wants to be a physical trainer or pe teacher she is very sporty.
My little lad was well chuffed with him medal.
my week holds just the same as every other week work work an then house maid when i get home.
What about you ladies.
stuart
Housemaid, yes I can relate to that. I am going to a party on Saturday night, looking forward to that ;-)
Stuart, your daughter will have to take Sports Science then?
Hi louise
Yer she has taken PE and Sport BTEC at school to learn about the body and stuff. An its her parents evening on thursday so fingers crossed.
A party hey you going to let ya hair down an strutt ya moved on the dance floor.
Stuart
I am not a dancer but will have a good time anyway!
Good luck for the parents evening, does anyone else hate going to them, like me?
Hey guys..... so glad that theres some one from Botswana. I hope its my friend, whom i recomended the site to. Whats the username? Anyway, is everyone good? I have been so great ..... have decided life is too too great and m a great person and evryone and evrybody is great. But guess what...................

Hello Lush, great to hear from you. How are you doing?
You are a tease, you can't keep us on tenterhoooks like that! Come on, spill the beans......
Hi stuart, thats great that your daughter knows what she wants to do, will she go ahead and start studying next year?
If she is finishing school now, does that mean she is attending her school prom? (so american!)
Louise - a party, sounds fun! My daughter is going to visit her cousin for the weekend (this is a first!) soooo I am freeee! Yay!!!
Lush, hallo, do tell all! You sound in very fine form! Its great to hear that you have been recommending the site :)
So what has been happening in soap-opera-land???????
Hi all, I hope you all have a great weekend. Sounds like Louise is going too at the party, and Anna is having a 'free' weekend. Stuart, are you having a bbq, and a bounce on the trampoline maybe? Now, Lush sounds like she is having a wonderful time, but no one still knows with what, or with whom maybe!!!
Sun is shining, so looks promising, but as we all know, looks can be deceiving!
Take care all, and enjoy whatever it is you are doing

She only 15 so dont really want to come down on her to hard i want her to get a good enducation first an formost.
Stuart living the dream (yer when hahahahaha)
How great that your daughter was able to tell you about this. A tribute to your close relationship! But oh it is a worrying for a dad when his daughter has a boyfriend, as you say, you know what teenage boys are like. It's good that he is not too local, to put her off her schoolwork.
My party was great fun at the weekend thanks.
Are you enjoying the sunshine Stuart? I can feel a BBQ coming on....
Hi louise
Yer how was ya party you get tipsy an have a dance. You got plans 4 then week ahead an weekend.
Oh yer you bet if its like this at weekend the bbq will be burning whooooooooooo an the beer flowing.
Hi Stuart
We did have a few glasses of wine, but round my friend's brick stove in the garden, was very relaxing.
This coming weekend I am meeting with a couple who are friends of mine; it is the man's birthday so they are meeting up with me before they go out for a celebratory meal. I am also on the last stage of my college work (counselling qualification) so that will keep me out of mischief.
The forecast is good so I am guessing you will get your wish, stuart. Are the children with you this weekend?
I think it's so emotional dealing with the emotions of our children when it comes to romance! Good luck Stuart...
That sounds nice Louise. Good luck with the college work too.
Hi louise an sparkling
Yes the children are with me this weekend they normally only go to there mums the last weekend of the month.I wouldent mind if it was every other weekend but mum chooses not to but its avaliable if in the future the children or mum change there minds.
Yes bbq and a few glasses of pop i think if its nice.
My course at college has finished now so think its time i looked at another one.
Well done at completeing your course louise, and how are things for you sparkling.
Stuart
Hi all. It's great Stuart that your daughter was able to tell you about her boyfriend. You two sound extremely close. Also good that it is long distance, (for you, not for her of course).
Sunshine earlier, but gone cloudy. I was going to sit in the garden after school pickup, but that hasn't happened. Still working on the fridgefreezer!!! Hopefully it'll work again, fingers crossed.
Hope everyone has a good evening
take care

Hi all how is every
sorry about this but time for me to have a moan.
The kids mum chose to have the children one weekend a month not a problem she could without question have them every other weekend.
She Collects them from school at 3.15 friday brings them back as soon as she can sunday.
Now because they got stuck in traffic going home friday took them 6 hours to get to birmingham she now wants to collect them saturday afternoon it was her decisson to love so far away.Whats the point to and from birmingham for a night.
Yer i love the fact that they see there mum but the time is starting to get less and less.
I had made plans that weekend to go visit a friend, it seams every time i meet new friends and make plans my ex trys to spoil it what a sad person.
It seams the world has to revole around her not that she is spending less and less time with her children.
Thanks for listening
Stuart (still liveing the dream just lol)
Hello stuart and all of you who have just joined and welcome. You certainly have arrived home away from home. Brilliant platform for sharing, understanding and enjoying all that comes with single parenting. I have been a single parent for ove 20years. I am a mother of 2 boys one 20 and the other 14. I have been thru it all, its not bad at all, not scary at all. Just enjoy it. I live in Africa, a small place called Botswana and it has not been easy being a single parent - its a taboo!!! but i have done it and i see a lot of people are doing it now. Good luck and we are here to listen and chat. To everyone its nice to be back
